Ever thought about greeblie-ing up a Roomba to make a "Sanitation Droid". Or adding an R2 or BB style dome to one so you have room for electronics lol. The cleaning droids from KOTOR also have a head that could work.
Weather and detail paint at each level is a trick people often over look. So nice to see a DIY that mentions that. When you say "it looks great but missing something" it's usually that step. Looks great bro. Another amazing video.
@@TheSmugglersRoom Yup. I've got a small Stanley tool box that is going to get Star Warsified like yours...and I'm thinking of doing a metal one up to look like a Brotherhood of Steel tech's....This inspiration thing can be dangerous!
Funtastic! Thank you very much! We really appreciate the compliment, and so happy to hear you are enjoying the journey with us. You can email us ideas if you would like, that would be great to try an incorporate ideas into the design. info@thesmugglersroom.net
You are so much fun! Your stuff is way cool. I wish I had more shop knowledge. As a mom of twenty-somethings, and a pip-squeak, I was busy raising and teaching kids and not tinkering in the workshop. I wish I had more time on this earth to craft some of this cool stuff. This younger generation is so innovative and smart and creative... if only I were younger. But, you are still inspiring me and tempting me to try my hand at a few things for the love of my 15 y.o. Maybe even for the grandbabies! Thank you so much! Keep sharing. Blessings! :)
I'm headed to Disneyworld/Galaxy's Edge next month. I plan on purchasing an R2 unit from Droid Depot. You've given me the inspiration to build one of these in scale for my new droid!
Awesome, looks cool. Thank you for the inspiration. Man if that round cog in the middle would have worked as a dimmer, i would have lost my mind. Cant wait for the next project, have fun👍
The video production quality in all of your builds are out of this galaxy! Thank you for sharing your creativity and tips; one of the best prop channels out there. You guys deserve more love!
this channel is so underrated. I'm not a fan of star wars, never seen them, but I admire everything you make. it's art a geeky art :) keep it up, my friend!
Thank you very much, we have been hoping that what we are doing would be appealing to everyone, even those that are not necessarily Star Wars fans. Really appreciate the feedback!
I have a lot of favorite channels about different things, and after having just discovered yours recently, I can happily say that it's already right up there with my top prop faves :) I'm a scratch builder at heart, and while I let the 3D printer do a lot of the work these days, your hardware builds like this take me straight back to the early 2000s when I was making sink tube saber hilts and PVC E-11s. Thanks for bringing me back to my prop roots, and keep up the awesome work! (RPF "Pilot" if you're in that neighborhood) :-)
I like these quick, DIY videos. They inspire me to go and throw something together in a short time while I'm working on larger projects. You could call it procrastination, but I call it inspiration. :)
Another awesome video! On a totally off topic, would be willing to share what camera you use? Your videos are always very done with clean footage. Thanks!
Thank you very much! We use a Canon 80D, here is a link (it is affiliate FYI, but it won't add any additional cost to you if you use it) amzn.to/2tUZn3O
Looking good. Looking over the parts list i see you list your airbrush. But you didn't' list the compressor. Do you use a hobby compressor or more a professional compressor with adapters?
I'm not 100% sure. My initial guess would be no, simply because silicone does not adhere very well at all. But I can't say for certain. If it's not an overly expensive case I would just give it a shot.
i would like to see some mandalorian builds , aside from that love watching you . This has helped me a ton with my cosplay , i am building a kit to join the Mandalorianmercs.org and your weathering has been clutch for me .
Thank you Greg. As it so happens, we are going to be building two full mandalorian costumes starting very soon to have ready for Star Wars celebration. We plan on having a series of episodes for those builds. The costume, armor, weapons, and more. So keep an eye out for that.
I can tell you that we are 100% making one of these, however I can not decide between putting it in the room or at the entrance to my shop. I may need two of them! LOL
Question, did I miss in the video how you powered up those LEDs?? Batteries? I didn't see an AC cord. A basic course on how to determine voltage, amps and resistors would be super helpful for hacks like myself. I never know which battery is appropriate for projects or how to calculate it. I was an ME not an EE...lol..:-) Thanks for entertaining my questions.
Hi there, we did use AC power for this project. But I love your idea of putting together an episode how how to determine voltage for electronics. Well do that for sure!
I have not actually. Most of the time I sand the surface of what I am working on, especially true of the HDPE. If you wash the resin with soap and water you will be fine. PVC can chip, but 90% of everything I paint I also go back and add a layer or two of clear coat. I use Rustoleum most of the time and it protect the paint from chipping or any smudging. On the Junction box in this project, i don't typically paint it, but just keep the grey color because it is one of the exceptions I have found that does not take paint well.
We are working on it. This episode is part of the room as well. The room builds take a good deal of time for us, so we are hoping these small projects also are enjoyable while we work on the room. Our plan is to have a new room build each month at a minimum.
us too!!! It's coming, i promise. It is taking a while to get it ready for showing, but we are working on it. You should see a new episode for that in a week or two.
awesome build...
