      The Pentax engineers put a lot of brains into this relatively small number of components.

    Hello. I have just purchased one of these I live in UK so had to get it imported. Luckily my copy works. My PCB looks the same as yours but my battery compartment is different. I have no spring inside camera the spring on my version is inside the removable screw on cover. The battery polarity is the same as yours.. I also have the ES which has spring inside the camera and opposite polarity. My electro spotmatic has a lower serial number than yours also. Thank you for all your amazing work. Mike.

      Hello Mike! Congratulations for getting a working one! Interesting that a camera with the lower serial number has the spring in the removable screw, which is the better design for this polarity, in my opinion (no risk of shorting anything out with the spring and easier maintenance of the spring).
