    Ah, for myself I am super conflicted now on if I want to pick up a _Grand Power K100D_ or a _Tisas Zigana F_ .
    Basically, I'm looking for a low price point DA/SA hammer-fired range gun.
    And right now it looks like these are the top 2 contenders.
    I suppose the good news is probably that there's not a wrong choice here since it seems both are great guns.
    But still, "if I can only have one" I want 'the best one', lol.

      The Grand Powers are great except for the plastic body and the fumble apart and trying to out fumble it together field strip. You might consider a CZ 75 9mm or CZ 97 45 auto. 9mm is very hard to get now. 45 ACP is pretty well still available anywhere. Grand Power has a 45 version too... really nice. I like my CZ 75 Compact all steel. Or, CZ 97 which is always all steel. The CZ 75 P01 is aluminum frame. Actually the CZ p10, p9, and p7 plastic guns are good too.

    Great review, very nice gun. I reckon smaller or lesser known manufacturers could benefit from including a holster in the package. If a buyer doesn't think they are going to be able to carry it straight away that may be enough to deter them from buying it and choosing something more popular with lots of available accessories. Guess who just ordered a K100D from Global Ordnance... D@^^N you Graham Bates. Seriously though, thanks. I have been looking for that perfect defensive handgun design for years and have wished I could take design aspects from several different firearms and put them together for the, subjectively, best self defense gun. I currently carry a Glock 26 with a spare G19 15rnd mag, and will continue to carry on jobsites and days of fewer concealment garments. I sometimes carry a Commander slide/Officer frame 1911 owb. I hail to the doctrine that I should carry the best that I can get away with on any given day and wanted a full-size, double-stack, decocker, hammer-fired, double/single with a refined single action break and a usable double. I have always loved the Beretta PX4 but the gun is ugly and I don't like the slide mounted safety. I considered CZ and clones, Sig and Arex, and many other double/singles and they all left me wanting - many failing in weight vs capacity vs quality control vs reliability/track record. Anyway, I really like the idea of the Grand Power designs and the triggers look excellent. They seem to manage recoil great and the machining looks amazing. That big chunk of steel in the polymer frame seems like a winner. I look forward to many hours of dry-fire practice and breaking in the double action pull. I hunt with a 9.5"SuperRedhawk and am not scared of a heavy double action. Will update when it comes in. Thanks, Graham and Tia.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  4 года назад

      From what you describe you're looking for I think the K100D will fit the bill nicely. Takedown and reassembly is a bit different, and they do require more regular cleaning than a Glock, but are excellent pistols. There is a K100 in Slovakia at a rental range that has survived more than 100,000 rounds with no change to the operational geometries. Springs and other parts of course have been changed as they would be on any gun, but operationally it's still as it was on day one.

    • @6.5mm_is_the_best_mm
      @6.5mm_is_the_best_mm 4 года назад

      @@GBGuns I don't have any trouble breaking down an R-51 or any of the fixed barrel designs that break down similarly to the K-100. Always a trick to it. The rep in one of the Shot Show videos made reassembly look effortless. I clean my carry guns after shooting - some of the other guns have to wait a few weeks but I don't think they care one way or the other. I read about the 112,XXX round count range demo. I doubt it will see half that round count but I am really impressed with this company. I hope the Stribog raises awareness of Grand Power among the consumers and we start seeing these in the local gun shops. Thanks for turning me on to these handguns.

    • @kimballscarr
      @kimballscarr 4 года назад +1

      @@edwardbohlman3209 Don't like that fumble apart and out fumbling it to get it together?
      I have the same issue on choosing which. The current price on the K100/D is hard to beat $463, about a $100 off. But the Q100 is like $399 right this instant. And, that long barrel X-Calibur is really nice. The Grand Power website says the Q100 is for self defense and military forces use. Personally being a mean old man makes me favor hammers, but being an engineer that part of me favors the striker... so I have a worse problem in choosing. But they do make a safety for the Q100... suppose would have to write direct. Worse they have some awful pretty ones with cericoat finishes now...
      I am going to do a pistol project, and fix that fumble apart / out fumbling it to assemble aspect... looking at it pretty closely I think it can be modified, and fixed.. with new barrel and slide. Unfortunately modifying the stock components would be difficult. Grand Power hardens there slides to pretty high core tempers (390 brinell and about carbonitride of at least 700 brinell for about .5mm thick) and likewise the barrels but harder inner bores around 480-500 brinell but with similar core and surface tempers) this is pretty hard and carbide end mills and tools only pretty much... and cutting through the surface would need cubic boron nitride tools likely, or cermet. That will all depend how I find the thing is to maintain.
      I am also conflicted on the Stribog I purchased now some weeks ago, but not shipped though in stock, as they just released the roller delayed version... yet have not shipped my blow back version yet.... and I am almost ready to change over the order!
      From what I have seen in a French language video on the Stribog, the GP roller system Stribog is unusual design using ONE roller between the non-reciprocating operating handle part of the bolt (little bitty extension of the bolt that mounts only the operating handle) and the main bolt body. It does not lock in recesses in the receiver but in a ramp milled into the separate very small section of the bolt just behind the bolt handle section of the bolt, and interposed between that and the bolt body to which it is attached by the delay roller working in a ramped slot. That means I would guess about 1/10th of the mass of the bolt is in the roller delay mounting section and 9/10ths is in the rest of the bolt body... but they recoil together... just the heavier section moves about 1/4" running the roller up the ramp slot between that and the very light forward extension to the bolt.
      It is unique as it is not traditional roller delay/locked but only roller delayed in differential mass sections of the bolt so it is simply a internal delay to the bolt, operating like a staged blow back. Interesting to see Graham's comments. However, I have changed my mind a little on how it works since a couple months ago.... actually it works like a Mk19 MG... sort of: the main body of the bolt is accelerated back by the recoil and firing pressure impulse, this causes the small mass section of the bolt to be accelerated forward by the ramp and roller action between the two components, this transfers momentum and energy from the larger to the smaller to counter the rearward movement of the main bolt body.... to "delay" actually retard by momentum transfer between the two parts. Nothing like a conventional roller locking / delay where the rollers interface and temporarily lock the bolt in place to the receiver!

    going from a CZ to one of these seems like a huge downgrade. I could've understood an Arex Zero 1 CP but still prefer the CZ. I'll stick with my CZs.

      They stopped with stainless and started nitride a year or so ago. It's that way from the factory

    The same way that the safety got inadvertently knocked off, couldn’t this gun get inadvertently knocked into the double action only mode?

    • @6thmichcav262
      @6thmichcav262 4 года назад

      Yes. Although obviously not as dangerous as DB’s slip into in-safed SA, you can inadvertently leave the later GP’s in DAO. As I understand it, some of the early ones did not have a decocker.

    Dont like Ambi-controls! Everyone in my family is right handed. WHY would I want controls that could only harm me? I understand the need for Left handed controls - just NO advantage at all for me to have them!!!

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  3 года назад

      There are a number of reasons. For one it's easier to use the mag release on the right side of the gun for many right-handed shooters. 2. Should you train, or god forbid need to shoot with your left hand the gun remains fully functional. 3. The ambi safety makes for a quick check of a holstered firearm while remaining low profile enough to not get bumped during carry.

    If you live in a State that allows lg capacity Glocks, the safety system is 1000 times better then a Grand Power 100 D... That being your trigger finger and a consistent pull. KISS...keep it simple stupid.
