An unfortunate consequence of the constant cycle of upgrades. They've made 21 different handhelds. I wonder how much a unifying rebrand for newer models together with their ease of use would boost sales. Retroid Pocket has got the easy branding, but the setup isn't easy at all.

      RG is typical Anbernic prefix.

I purchased a RG35XX about a month ago. I plan on buying some replacement shoulder buttons and a bigger battery, but with GarlicOS I feel like there really isn't much need for a lot of changes. I could live with the shoulder buttons, and the battery life is only about 4.5 hours with lower screen brightnesses, but it's still a solid little handheld. Plus, the purple case almost matches my OG Game Boy Color. Totally worth the purchase if you don't already have a handheld that will play up to PS1.

One thing that the RG35XX has over the Miyoo Mini is a Real Time Clock. This affects Pokemon games from gen 2. The Miyoo Mini gets around this by moving the clock forward every time you turn on the handheld, but you can't change the amount of hours it'll jump ahead. Miyoo Mini Plus also won't have RTC, but it'll have wifi so you can sync the time that way. Might be bothersome if you're away from an Internet connection though

Personally I love my miyoo mini but the scarcity of it makes it an easy target for price gouging, especially since the screen is so sensitive that it breaks easily. I already dropped some more bones for mods like better triggers and a case that turns into a grip and love it, still if I busted it I'll get the RG35xx as a replacement. For me personally its a matter of OS and the Garlic/Onion OS is where it's at, easy to install and personalize to my taste. Plus features that takes advantage of the portability. I need the sleep mode as I use my pocket consoles for stray game sessions during dry spells of activity. Being able to boot up where you left off and sleep the console when you gotta do something at the press of a button is essential for the stop and go in my day to day life. I got everything I need for now thanks to Onion and the pocketability of the miyoo my next emu console purchase will be if something is within the same pocket size but comes with dual analog so I can play the few ps games that need it like Dark Stone or if my Miyoo nose dives on to the floor.
I'd like to thank you for mentioning that the Garlic OS has the same features as Onion. All I've seen is people showing the install and the tile UI I haven't seen anyone make a comparison to the features.

I have to say of all my portable handhelds (now it could also be the games I play), I wind up now using my 35xx more than even my rp3+ just for its connivence, comfy size and reasonable portability. It goes with me every day when others are a 'maybe' choice and I have enjoyed the heck out of it. A few things I could wish were better, battery life being one as If It could just get 1-2 more hours on average it would feel basically perfect, the back buttons since I don't need them for games much, mainly function/menu commands they aren't that key, but I wish it also had a more responsible and tactile volume control. If this had a little bit better battery, and the volume wheel of the mini, I think it would be a 10/10

Have to say the sell point was the size of the system. The Miyoo Mini V2/3 was as big as a stack of playing cards so it fit perfectly into the pocket and even into those card deck holders for belts. Reason why I wanted one so I can put it in say a shirt pocket whilst the Miyoo Mini Plus and RG35XX wouldn’t be able to. Least for my shirt pocket size.

The one thing I'd like to know that I think you didn't mention in the vid is what the battery life is like. I'm sure there's a lot of difference between running say a gba game vs a ps1 game, but it'd be nice to get an estimate. Otherwise, as someone that's been trying to get a miyoo mini to no success, I'm glad an alternative with a similar form factor has shown up.

I think one of the best combinations (2022) you can have is the iPhone, and the Retroid Pocket 3+. You get access to iOS Apps and Android Apps, all while being easy to take anywhere as you put them into two pockets. Plus the emulation experience is very very good.
      My previous combo recommendations:
      - 2022 iPhone 13 Max and Retroid Pocket 3+
      - 2019 Samsung S10+QSD and Razer JungleCat
      - 2017 Samsung S8+QSD, and PS Vita Slim jailbroken
      - 2015 iPhone 6S Plus, and GPD XD
      - 2014 Samsung Note 4+E, and new3DS Jailbroken
      - 2011 Samsung Note 1, and PSP-3000 hacked
      - 2007 iPhone 3G, and DS Lite (flash cart)
      - 2004 Nokia N90, and GBA (flash cart)

I ordered mine through keepretro. I went with them because they inspect the product before it gets to you and they handle returns/refunds if necessary. In total I paid $64.99 + $15.78 for expedited shipping which I'm not entirely sure if that was really necessary. I don't know how much of a difference expedited shipping makes over standard but I ordered mine on January 21st and received delivery February 8th.

I got a Miyoo right before the hype, luckily. I will say it is my favorite emulation handheld, but I do feel like a big reason of its success is FOMO. Most of the other available handhelds are great for playing the same games. The biggest draw to the Miyoo (for me) is it's size and the OnionOS. Most of the Anbernic devices are great and with the RG35XX getting GarlicOS, seems like a no-brainer for those who want a similar experience.
