    Do you have any practical tips on using constraints in assemblys and the difference between constraintsand joinsand how they apply in assemblys.

      Yes, there are some advantages to using joints instead of constraints - it depends on your application and what will be done with the assembly. Joints are perfect for use when you will be animating the assembly.
      This video demonstrates using constraints to assemble parts. This is a great video because it demonstrates how to use the origin features (the XY, XZ, and YZ planes as well as the X, Y, and Z axes) to help with assemblies:
