In this video, I demonstrate how to create a wdl file, which helps users know what to type in each box.

    Hi. I made linetype using shape. But when i send my drawing to someone, linetype dont work. Is it beacause of shape? Must be shape and drawing in same folder and then if someone open drawing from that file,will work? If i want to send linetype to someone, what to do that linetype will be shown as i made that? Thanks

    • @professor_porkchop
      @professor_porkchop 21 день назад

      Thanks for the question! You will need to send the linetype file (.lin) and the shape file (.shp) to the client. The client may save them on his computer (both files in the same location) before opening the drawing file. When the file is opened, the program will direct the user to specify the location of the linetype file, and everything should work out just right!

    Hey! Could I use this program to customize a car frame? I need to fabricate the rear of a classic car I have to hold a subframe of an electric vehicle. Can you message me? Would love to talk to a person familiar with autodesk

      Certainly! Do you have access to the 3D model of the subframe of the electric vehicle? If you can sketch it on paper you can model it in Inventor. The other alternative is to model the space available and use the frame generator to place the structural members, then miter or cope them. I have a video on the frame generator as well. Let me know.

    Hey, Klint. It's cool to see your face on RUclips. I noticed you exited the block editor before adding the VP scale field. Is that something you can add into the block and it still updates? Also, maybe you have a vid on this already, but i could really use a refresher course on LISP routines.

      @professor_porkchop 3 месяца назад

      Hey Mike! No, unfortunately, the field linked to the viewport cannot be in the block. If you add it in the block editor the link to the viewport doesn't stay connected when you save the block. Here are two links to AutoLISP basics: ruclips.net/video/ID_Cl5jsZK4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/_L8dZT7C3Gg/видео.html I can make more if you let me know specifics. Great to hear from you!

    How do you define the sheet metal rules in order to obtain the best result?

    • @professor_porkchop
      @professor_porkchop 3 месяца назад

      Fernando, The sheet metal rules are based on several factors, but the two most important are the type of material and thickness. When sheet metal bends, the inside of the bend is compressed and the outside of the bend is stretched. The neutral line is the point in the thickness that remains the same length. To calculate the bend allowance by hand you have to know where that neutral line is. In order to create a flat pattern (if not using a CAD package such as Inventor) a designer usually refers to a bend allowance table. For the most part, if you choose the correct material and thickness, Inventor will correctly create your flat patterns - to within a few thousandths of an inch! Here is a link to a resource that gives more information on sheet metal unfold rules: ketiv.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/KETIV-AVA-Sheet-Metal-Unfold-Rules-Equations.pdf

    Do you have any practical tips on using constraints in assemblys and the difference between constraintsand joinsand how they apply in assemblys.

    • @professor_porkchop
      @professor_porkchop 3 месяца назад

      Thanks for the question! Yes, there are some advantages to using joints instead of constraints - it depends on your application and what will be done with the assembly. Joints are perfect for use when you will be animating the assembly. This video demonstrates using constraints to assemble parts. This is a great video because it demonstrates how to use the origin features (the XY, XZ, and YZ planes as well as the X, Y, and Z axes) to help with assemblies: ruclips.net/video/xYFtmx0s7tc/видео.html Here is a video for joints: ruclips.net/video/ApDwh3paZGw/видео.html I will be making a series of videos next week. How do I make a shape that has a solid hatch?

    • @professor_porkchop
      @professor_porkchop 4 месяца назад

      You cannot include hatch patterns in shape files. The solid fill pattern in AutoCAD is a dummy pattern. To work around this issue you will need to get creative. Here is one solution: 1. Change the hatch pattern from SOLID to something like ANSI31. 2. Change the scale of the pattern so it is dense. The density you need will be determined by your application and the size of the shape. A small shape may need to have a scale like 0.05 3. Explode the hatch pattern so it is now composed of several lines. 4. Use the MKSHAPE command as before. Depending on your application, you may need to increase the resolution on the file. Hope this helps! Let me know! KR
