- I highly recommend getting a hitch clamp. As you can see they take the play and unwanted movement out of the receiver and hitch. They also help your trailer connection to stay solid and stable on the back of the tow vehicle.

common sence, logic and reason, you have sold me on the thing. Thanks for all your efforts. Great video.
up here in the rust belt we just leave the hitch installed all winter and by spring you will never get it out
😂
Best glue = corrosion.
That’s exactly what we do
😂
Awesome thank you buddy I got mine ordered yesterday Ordered one of the U-bolt set ups but I have a 2015 ram 2500 so I had to re-order the 2 1/2 inch one so I had to re-order the 2 1/2 inch one I wish I would’ve seen your video first I wish I would've seen your video first thx thanks🎉
Just ordered this... this video is over 4 years old and still as relevant as ever. i appreciate your review my dude!!!
I just bought one today at Harbor Freight. I like the security feature added to my already locked ball carrier. Thanks for the demo
I ordered a drop hitch step and it came with that part. There were no instructions, so I learned how to install it from your video.
I see some comments about your installation being backward, but you got me going in the right direction.
Thanks!
I ordered a DNA Motoring 36" wide Hitch Step Bar from Amazon for accessing roof mount cargo in my Navigator. I later realized that I might need a hitch clamp. When the hitch step arrived, I was very pleased to see that the manufacturer included a hitch clamp in the package.
WOW. Great video, well explained. I was putting on a mobility scooter rack ramp & it was wobbly, bent & all over the place. I was ready to throw it out & couldn't figure out why it was doing so. Now watching this video it has made sense & now I will be buying a hitch clamp, thank you for explaining all of it. N.K
This video saved the day. I just bought a new hitch and trailer and had a little too much "wiggling" going on. Thanks for posting this.
I have the same camper weight distribution hitch. It's loose and makes my camper sway because of that. I even went to my local trailer supply and they didn't have that. Thanks for showing. Now I won't sway unless I want to. : )
Just ordered my 2 1/2” one for my Ram 2500. Thank you for this video. A real rattle saver! I just started trailering again. Perfect timing.
Todd, great video with good information. Ive been towing for years and never heard of them. I was impressed by how much they stop the play, looks like I'll be getting a hitch clamp
Hey Todd, Hitch clamps do work great and you'll be glad you got one once you start using it. I had never heard of them till a couple years ago and have been using them since. Thanks for commenting and watching! ~ Todd
I need to get one of those to take the play out of our hitch. Thanks for sharing!
Great advice I will take
Thank You!!! I have not even bought my RV yet.
I do not believe my dad ever had any hitch clamps when we carted out boat around. Nor any stabalizer bars.
No You Tube back then.
We thought we were 'big time' when we went, from a hand cranked winch for pulling the boat up the trailer, to a key operated electric winch.
Just found this video and ordered the two-inch version of your two-and-a-half-inch clamp!! Thanks for the video and this should help my cargo carrier from wiggling!!
Great video!
Got a boat last summer and the wife and kids (sometimes dad too) were a little worried about all that clunking going on when going over intersection humps, and when coming to full stop and starting up again.
Going to pick up one of these and should be nice and quiet from now on. Thanks again!
Thanks for sharing this makes perfect sense. I tried to get one from Amazon before my trip to Sturgis. The package arrived empty! So my trailer swayed and bounced all the way to Omaha. I got to get one of these!
Been towing my landscape trailer (with rowboat inside) for 18 years... and never thought to get one, BUT now with a new SUV, and a different hitch-- I'm doin this, thanks!! ( I love the anti theft aspect too)
Great VID - Thanx, I’ve Towed for 27 years and had No idea these were Available 🙀🤗yea !!
I have been living with the play for years!! Thanks, i am going to get one soon. Thanks for doing the vid, very clear both in pics and words.
Hi Judith Macdonald, They do work great and you'll be glad you got one once you do. Thanks for the nice comments and watching ~ Todd
This was so helpful. I stopped using my hitches, because of this. You are so helpful. Thank You Sir!
We ordered a wheelchair hauler no instructions no nothing we didn't know what it was for we do now thank you my friend for real for real I'll subscribe😎👍👍
I've used one for years. They work great.
getting ready for camping season with a new camper and towing my boat behind this was a helpful video. already added turnbuckles and chain that hook to frame. Didn't consider this so thank you!
Great clear video. Such a simple yet priceless device. Thanks for sharing that.
Great products. I think you installed the 2 inch one backwards. The 45 degree fold down should go facing the rear to rest against the smaller tube . This levels it out with the wider flange over the receiver .
Your an Idiot!!! It only fits one way...
Technically, you are correct as that is what most instructions say, but mechanically, it really doesn't make much of a difference as you want that downward force. When it comes down to it, it's mainly personal preference.
@@skyviolet Did your mother teach you name calling? Grow up.
So, are you saying he should remove the bottom plate and flip it so the pitch goes down, instead of up?
No more sticking washers underneath it😂😂😂 I'm about to order one now, thanks👍🏽
You have been a great help to me. I bought the 2" clamp at Home Depot and it had no instructions with it at all. Now I know how it's done. Thanks so much!
@Marcia Watts thank you for watching!
Thanks I will purchase one right away!! Enjoyed your informative video.
Excellent info and demo. Also great to know that it tightens up the hitch pin too.👍🤠🇦🇺
Thanks for the info. Bought a hitch mounted ladder rack system and it came with a U type clamp and didn’t know what it was as I’ve never needed anything like that. Also, great info on the security side, so I’ll be attaching it for that purpose alone. Thanks again.
Don't know why you had to play hero but THANKS a mil... for no reason at all you had to go help folk with same issues... Very smart observations and again... Thanks!
Thanks for the great tips, guys! Didn't know they existed until now.
I'm new at this RV life and thought I had bought every thing-a-ma-jig I could, well, I guess not ! And that bang and clunk is really annoying and well I was sure we had to live with it but I guess not ! Thanks for the info, now I have one more thing-a-ma-jig to buy. Much appreciated, thanks again.
I just bought the second type you showed..works fantastic, the only mod I did was add a second lock washer and nut to back up the first set.
Thanks! The 2 inch clamp worked great! Vid was just what I needed.
Thank you for this info. Helped me immensely as I try to figure out my setup.
Thanks for this, I am new to towing so bought the clamp and it really helps.
Straight and to the point - good video
thanks for the education/information....wasn't aware/familiar with the clamp
Thanks for the tip and demonstration.
If I ever get an RV I will get a hitch pin.
I just got a hitch mount cargo basket and it wobbles like crazy. I am going to get one of these hitch tighteners cause of your video. Thank you.
I got one when we towed with a Jeep Grand Cherokee and it did the job. We now have a Toyota 4Runner and have not installed it as I have yet to notice the noise.
Runaway you are totally awesome. Thanks for sharing your information
Steve Flaherty, thank you that is so nice of you to say. Thanks for watching! ~Carla
I just ordered one off Amazon thanks for the heads up..👍👌
Thanks for your excellent suggestion...
Thanks for your help. First time I got a trailer
OMG! THANK YOU for this video! The rattle was driving me crazy. I had no idea that a "hitch clamp" even existed. :)
Never heard of this. I have to get one. Thanks man.
Long ago I designed one using a 4 hole super strut flat plate, two eye bolts, and 6" long 1/2" pipe nipple. It's good to see a commercial product in addition now.
thanks for showing these styles to us !
thank you, especially mentioning the additional security
This is very helpful. Another thumbs up for up for you!👍
Now this is important information....thanks!!!!
Just ordered one thanks man!👊
I wish I'd seen this last week. I just took a small Uhaul 1200 miles moving my daughter to college. It was the most exhausting ride I've ever done. I did air down the tires and that helped some especially with the trailer empty, but, that gadget would of changed everything.
Thanks for the explanation. Much appreciated! 😀
I always used a muffler clamp on my hitch and it works great too. Plus half the price. I paid $4.00. Great video
Happy to come across this video handy tips.
Thanks for the video, buying one today.
Thanks for sharing this with everyone. I didn't know that there was something like that. I'm going to pick one of them up.
Kim and Vinny in CT
These things are great and definitely worth the money in my opinion. Thanks for watching. ~ Todd
That's great information.
I'm about to order one now. Thanks.
Hopefully it helps, let us know. Thank you for watching!!
Great demonstration and video. Thanks.
Good tip,… thank you. I hate the sound of ol that banging around back there.
Even with my small little utility trailer unloaded it bangs around.
Very Alarming sounds!!
First time I heard it I though my hitch was coming off the truck.
Nice job!👍
Thanks for showing details.
Never heard of these. Gonna take a look at my setup next time we head out to see how much play is in ours. If there is, looks like a hitch clamp will be in my future. Thanks for the vid!
Michael Godsey thank you and thanks for watching!
Cool videos! Well done and good camera angles to clearly see what you are doing. The only constructive comment I would make is that the angled edge of the bottom plate on your u-bolt style clamp should go the other way around. The angled edge goes against the draw bar and NOT against the receiver as you have shown. This keeps the plate horizontal when you tighten it up and keeps if from jamming against the threads. It works your way. Just not as well. Also see the spec sheets that come with the U-bolt clamp. Small thing. Otherwise, fun videos to watch !
Thank You for showing me how to install the clamp I was doing it so wrong.
thanks so much,if not for this video i wundnt known. such a simple and practical formfitting trick...a must!
Thanks for the great information!
I need to have Gary watch this and check out how much play we have with our hitch. Good to know how to correct it!! Thank you Todd!
Lovely. Great video
Thank you, Sir 👍🏽
one heck of an idea thanks for showing.
Awesome tip. Thanks!
Thank you! Definitely something I want to get!
I got the 2" one and put it on my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the thumping stopped and the silence was golden. I haven't put it on my 4Runner yet as I don't think it is needed.
Great info! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome information
Thanks 👍🏽
I have a flagpole hitch for the back of my trailblazer that shakes a lot and I have that 2in. clamp and it works really well.
I like this. Never heard of it. Definitely adds security.
urity
Nice and useful video. I'll make myself one hitch clamp
Never knew they had these! I’ve been using a metal shim.
NEEDED THAT GREAT ADVICE THANKS
Thanks for the video . I just hooked up my extension to my 21/2 receiver and was noticing the play and the downward angle and was thinking , if I could get the play out , I would have more clearance . This may be the answer , gonna order one now
Thank you, great video.
Thank you very much, really help out!
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the video bud!
Just what I needed Thanks ! Didn't know they existed lol
Great Video . Thanks for sharing !

Good info about the Ram. I think you just saved me from buying the wrong style.
Glad we could help! Thanks for watching! ~Carla
This is a good video! I love this idea.
I dont hall much with our Ford Flex but the Hitch clamp is a life saver.... I use it with our 2100lbs pop-up camper and especially with my Hitch Bike rack. It keeps the bikes from wobbling...
