Hobbs brand is my preferred batting. I didn’t realize Hobbs has a sample chart - that would be incredibly useful. Your information was very helpful ~ thanks.
This was great info! I know many longarmers use Hobbs 80/20 so I bought some to try and don't like it. It's too stiff in my quilts, now I know which Hobbs battings to try for my preferred feel!

Thank you for answering my question the last time I was finishing a quilt. I have a new question for a new quilt. I’ve always used cotton batting, but I want to do wool with my next project. I am making a whole cloth quilt, repurposing an old linen/cotton blend duvet cover. Since the fabric is old, it won’t be shrinking any. Should I prewash and dry the wool batting, before sandwiching, pinning, and quilting?
Are use Hobbs 80/20 batting but I want my quilts softer/with more drape possibly? I’m not sure what you call it. But it seems my quilts are more stiff. Someone told me to not quilt as tight so I’ve tried quilting with larger spacing but it doesn’t really make any difference. Can you please tell me what batting to use or what I need to do other than wash wash wash. I love your videos! You are adorable and And they are so informative. Thank you so much
Please tell me if I should prewash my batting! I have prewashed all the fabrics for the top and bottom, before piecing it. My batting is a Warm & Natural needled cotton batting. I’m sure it will shrink when washed. I don’t know if I should prewash it before I do my quilting. I will be doing all the quilting by hand.
Hello Natta! Washing your batting before being stitched into a quilt is NOT recommended. The machine agitation will potentially shred the batting. Always read the recommendations provided by the manufacturer for care and stitch spacing.
@@FatQuarterShopTX Thank you very much! I got impatient yesterday and went ahead and got my layers together and basted it. I didn’t prewash the batting, but I did put it in the dryer with a damp towel and the backing to get out the wrinkles. It actually seemed to me that it may have shrunk a little just from that. We’ll see!
Wonderful video Edyta! I've always loved your quilts and have put all these battings on my Fat Quarter Shop wish list. xx Karen

The chart she showed is on their website under Products
Cloud loft is a polyester batting. Tuscany Supreme is the thicker cotton batting.

Hello Natt! We do not recommend washing batting. You batting should have instructions on how to use it on the packaging.

Wool !
This is very helpful! Which one do you suggest for a winter quilt? The double cotton?
What batting do you use if you do NOT want that "vintage" look when you wash your quilt?
Do you pre-wash batting?

what is the warmest for a winter quilt?
Hi Creative Chica! Wool batting would definitely be the warmest.
@@FatQuarterShopTX Thank you! Now to plan my next project, which will actually be for me this time😄👍
