    I need this right now. I am trying to start a bakery where we both hire and help domestic violence survivors. I'm so so close. I have everything to get it going except a building and the funds to get insurance, an oven, fridge, and the things like bulk flour, packaging ECT. Courageous Cakes LLC if you're ever in the area. This would change my life and so many others. Bless you for doing this for people. This is so awesome.

    • @vampiremask
      @vampiremask Месяц назад +38

      @EQLovesWater part of the issue with that is I have a lot of cake stuff.
      It has taken over my house. I have 5 mixers, lots of pans, all the things needed for a bakery that I have been picking up here and there over the years and I need a place for it to go. So I can have my house back.
      I am not exaggerating when I say I probably have more cake stuff than personal stuff in my house. My basement is just one little room but it's full of totes of just cake stuff.
      There is one kitchen available in the area but they charge $20 an hour to use the kitchen and I can't charge the extra to my customers. They will not pay that. I tried. I live in a small town. $4 for a cupcake or cookie is the max anyone will pay. I cannot compete with the other bakeries selling them for $2.50-$3.
      Right now I work as the baker at a local country club and the chef lets me do some things from the kitchen there but it can't stay that way. It's temporary. He said when I find a building he would just buy things from me wholesale to serve at the club. If that works out it would be great.
      I have an amazing idea that I haven't told anyone that would keep the bakery going all year I believe with no down time. I don't tell anyone because I don't want anyone to do it before I can. I believe it will turn the baking industry on its head and be an entirely new thing that everyone will try to follow.
      The YWCA is willing to send us women from the shelter to work but I want to help them too.
      We need more housing for these women and children, I'd like to have a separate place for men who deal with this to go too. I personally know one who is dealing with it. He's too afraid to leave his kids and he can't take them with him with nowhere to go.
      I want to be able to buy a big building with security that women and children can stay in .
      Sorry I went off on a little tangent. I just really want to help people and I know this would work. If only I could get it going. I am taking an online business course trying to learn the business side. It's just taking a while since I work at the club, do orders for my bakery have a house and two kids to take care of and some health issues that take me down sometimes. My trips to the hospital though I always take a notebook and take notes from my business class. I figured I'm just sitting here I should do something productive. I am so sorry I just got going on this and it got away from me.

    Offering $10k to quit her job and start a pastry shop might sound generous, but it's misleading and unrealistic. The average cost to open a small bakery ranges from $10k to $50k, and that’s just the beginning. Monthly expenses for rent, utilities, supplies, and labor can quickly add up. The $10k might cover a few months of living expenses, but it won't even scratch the surface of the actual costs involved in starting and sustaining a business. This kind of oversimplified gesture can set someone up for failure rather than success. If you're serious about helping, provide realistic financial support and practical business advice.

    I love that you do this stuff for people. Must be such a blessing. The initial start-up of things like this can be so intimidating, and I'm so glad that there's people out there who help with things like this. I've wanted to get into making music, and the start up materials to record, edit audio, get some kind of soundproofing (apartment life) have been difficult especially saying as I'm disabled and can't work your average 9-5 to create those funds. Youre changing lives here, man. Thank you for helping all these people access their dreams.

I know it would be successful, but I don't have the cash to start it. I would hire guitarists to give lessons and keyboards, piano 🎹. I wish I had the opportunity like this extremely blessed lady! This is such a great idea! A lot of times, this is the only thing that stands between a person launching their actual businesses. The power company typically does not want to hear about a persons “dreams”. You can even do something strange for a piece of change they want it! But I love what this man is doing. I know the success stories is his real payback. Nothing like hearing a good success story from someone you helped. Blessings to you both!

      Starting a pastry shop, or any retail business, will easily cost $50-100k (especially since you need 6mo of float). The smart way is to start small at home WHILE MAKING A LIVING AT WORK. Reinvest the profits and some extra money into it as you grow.

      even 100k is honestly not enough especially for food industry. Of course most small businesses start up with not much money but they also struggle hard and it takes getting not paid and working 90hour weeks. But with food there’s licensing, the expensive appliances, designing, rent, surveying and getting a property, even just a sign is like 10k…
