TONI BASIL Mickey EXTENDED

A massive hit from 40 years ago: Toni Basil and 'Mickey'. This cover of Racey's 'Kitty' (1979) was released early in 1982 and charted in Britain first; where it made the runner up position. Here in Australia it went all the way to the top where it spent a pair of weeks; and some 27 in the Top 100; ten of those in the Top 10 and becoming the 6th best seller of 1982. In America, it took several months to find a release, and hit #1 in December. The fab video was choreographed by Toni Basil herself, as that was her primary career; but she had been singing for more than 15 years when 'Mickey' made her an 'overnight' success worldwide. A follow up album and single ensued, but nothing could come close to this catchy piece of 80's pop. I have used Toni's appearance on our 'Countdown' program and re-edited it to accommodate this extended remix of the track. More of 'Mickey' to love. A classic!
