Just came across your channel today and bloody hell you're funny!! Love the sarcasm and so witty!! Also, the videos are not only interesting but informative 😊👌
Ok, so here's something I learned about the business of massage. Professionals that do not offer the "happy ending" bit are called massage therapists, whereas those that work in "special" the massage parlors are called masseuses. Many massage therapists will absolutely be offended at being called a masseurs because they obviously don't want to be associated with prostitution and massage is a key component of physical therapy that aids in speeding up the process of recovering from an injury. So next time you get a massage from a professional, remember this!
I think it is really awesome that back in the day, sexwork was just considered entertainment. You want to be entertained? Sure! Dancing, singing, puppets, sex... I think it is a view we should get back to, instead of all the shaming.
the "shaming" is probably less due to morals, than to health concerns. There are a whole lot more dangerous diseases around now, especially with globalisation, than back then in an isolated island country. a monogamous marriage with no premarital sex was the only surefire way to keep yourself venereal disease free.
I worked at a high end massage parlor in college and the massage part was as important as the, well, rest of it... We had to take a 4 month course in massage before we could work there, in fact. It wasn't full service, if you know what I mean but I paid for school, a BMW and was able to put a lot away. It was safe, clean, upscale and had security. Plus very strict as to what we could offer. So although I may have been a Prostitute, I don't really care. It was a professional environment and it really set me up. Alas, I eventually got tired of it and moved on but to think i make less now, in my career I went to school for is ironic. I believe if we changed the thinking about the whole subject it could be made so much cleaner, safer and trafficking wouldn't be as much of an issue. I have mad respect for these ladies, they were early hustlers
On one hand, what you said is true but maintaining strict standards at a wider scale will certainly be a problem with the super rich. Most people who manage such places would bow to money and power, since, well it's a business to them. Plus, there will be those who don't want to pay workers their due and so source them from other places and isolate them. Exploitation would always be a problem in this industry, much like it is in others, but here people's bodies are at a risk of violation. It's a subject I can never decide on.
@@randomplebian461 But how is that different from literally anything else? Illegal immigrants end up as day laborers, making pennies on the dollar and pretty much guaranteeing any injury is swept under the rug. But because of regulations, getting caught can ruin your business, such that many places wont accept anything less than a green card, just in case. It literally cannot be worse than it is today for s*x workers
I'm about to subscribe to this channel. I rarely laugh at jokes, but apparently I jive with your sense of humor cuz I was giggling. I think this would be a fun time to be a woman. I'm not married, but the fact that it was alright for women to have many lovers is something I think would be a lot of fun. Minus the STIs of course. I like that arrangement better than the women who were pretty much stuck at home all day bored as hell until someone came to visit them while their husbands were free to come and go and have multiple wives

Interesting piece, Linfamy! While it's true that the view of sexual entertainment may have been glamorized by the elites of the time, it's also interesting to see how religious credos demonized it and may have contributed to the push for the laws that ultimately caused its decline. Also, the retired emperor that started the Joukyuu war was named Go-Toba, also known as Takahira-shinnou and Takanari-shinnou. Greetings from Spain!

@Drakon590 He is referring the trope that Jesus was born without a physical father. You know, all that fuzz about Mary being unblemished while conceiving him (catholic view). Or as a saying goes: Many can see women only in two ways, like the virgin Mary, or like the tainted Magdalena, with Magdalena being fully open to receiving whichever treatment (with impunity for the man), simply because she isn't Mary
Only people and elite simps that slept with these harlots did, and they had the privilige to document it. Linfamy did say that there were people that were against it and rightfully so.
@@niqerfaguettranykyke ask any incel who hates women for not obliging, or a macho man. These guys want both to be served in one body, which of course doesn't work. Christianity is pervaded by this impossibility. to a point when women become despised for being women, as soon as they had closer contact with a man. Especially when this 'adultery' (odd that this shares the root with being 'adult') happens without a legal/religious sanction ie marriage beforehand. Men can get away with this, but women get criticized.

Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass" was definitely influenced by Japanese buds of wheat.

Didn't know Whitman was a Japanophile ;)
Just came across your channel today and bloody hell you're funny!! Love the sarcasm and so witty!! Also, the videos are not only interesting but informative 😊👌
Great , Fun History lessons indeed! Thank You So Much for the Tutorials! Stay Safe & Stay Humble! 🕯🌷🕊

2:00 it is a fun surprise to find Vaush in this corner of the internet.
Came for the history. Subscribed for the jokes.
Why does it have to be married
That video cut was brilliant, like Anyway

Love how they went by reliegous names, like imagine being picked up by the virgin mary or jesus
When he said they fought over splitting the loot, I heard "splitting the lute" due to the earlier metaphor.

Is dragon flutter the one where you swig sake and the blow onto a torch so you set your lover ablaze with your flame breath?
Yes it is! Forgot about that one.
Sake is flammable?

“Will cut a bitch for some cloth” had me in stiches! 🤣

THE FLUTE JOKE IS SO UNDERRATED
I'm about to subscribe to this channel. I rarely laugh at jokes, but apparently I jive with your sense of humor cuz I was giggling. I think this would be a fun time to be a woman. I'm not married, but the fact that it was alright for women to have many lovers is something I think would be a lot of fun. Minus the STIs of course. I like that arrangement better than the women who were pretty much stuck at home all day bored as hell until someone came to visit them while their husbands were free to come and go and have multiple wives
How these women played with your flu- 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I guess you can say by modern standards this practice is quite "Kinki" (Kinki is japanese for taboo, I made a pun)
Very punny :p

Interesting piece, Linfamy! While it's true that the view of sexual entertainment may have been glamorized by the elites of the time, it's also interesting to see how religious credos demonized it and may have contributed to the push for the laws that ultimately caused its decline.
Also, the retired emperor that started the Joukyuu war was named Go-Toba, also known as Takahira-shinnou and Takanari-shinnou. Greetings from Spain!
It's interesting that although they eventually limited prostitution to certain red light districts, they never banned it until the modern era.
It’s literally been almost a year since I’ve last checked this channel (as Jessica Vlogs/Putting the story in history). I come back to this. Something you wanna tell us, Linfamy?
Yes, I wanna tell you about Japanese adult stars 😀
Even people from the Heian period were showing respect to the sex workers... why can't we have that now?
Christianity and the obsession with the virgin Mary.
Dafuq does Virgin Mary have to do with it?
@@niqerfaguettranykyke ask any incel who hates women for not obliging, or a macho man. These guys want both to be served in one body, which of course doesn't work.
Christianity is pervaded by this impossibility. to a point when women become despised for being women, as soon as they had closer contact with a man. Especially when this 'adultery' (odd that this shares the root with being 'adult') happens without a legal/religious sanction ie marriage beforehand. Men can get away with this, but women get criticized.

The idea that entertainers provide many services is still common in Japan and Korea. Make sure to ask the price before going to a Karaoke or Noribang, the price will tell you what services are provided.
