    This is an appreciative performance of two classic Moody Blues songs. However, little to no footage showing Graeme Edge and nothing showing Norda Mullens the flute player.

    'You and Me' is probably my favorite Moody's song. As a guitar player, that motif in the song is clever.

      Speaking of john lodge, love the bass, yes of coarse, but his background vocals are superb, singing the high part.

      In my opinion, his wonderful guitar parts are so perfectly woven into their recordings that his tasteful tones and creative parts are criminally overlooked as a guitarist.

    One of their best songs, and truly one of the great album segues of all time into Land of Make Believe. Too bad they waited until they were old to start playing this timeless classic, and never play Land except for Justin solo. San really...

    Thanks, Nancy. I have been trying to copy John's bass parts to both of these songs but the other videos I see posted hardly ever even show John playing. With yours I can see both of his hands and hear him well enough to learn these parts the way he does them. I used to play just the flute part on Gypsy with our Moodyfest tribute band and on You and Me I played acoustic guitar, the same chords that Norda now plays so I am eager to tackle the bass on both now.

    If only Justin had used the tone he has on the intro to "Gypsy" on "You and Me" that song would have reached the gorgeous heights it does on the record with his great playing and the wonder tone of that beautiful Gibson 335. But instead he's got some kind of flanger on his tone which makes it sound tinny and really negates the beautiful natural tone of that Gibson. Not to mention, the volume should be up on his guitar parts. Instead it sounds like he's playing through a transistor radio.

  • @richardtofts8546
    @richardtofts8546 9 лет назад +1

    I'd love to know what setup he us using now that he is playing a Jazz instead of the precision. It's notoriously difficult to replicate the P bass sound on a jazz, plus he is using a pick, which you would expect to give an even more trebly sound , but this sounds rich and full of bottom end.
