    I agree wholeheartedly, I'm still of the opinion the devs just gave up on Rogue. However, it is worth mentioning that EVERYTHING in rogue required long time investments to obtain. Despite what some will likely say, yes. Waiting for an hour to get things like the crucial ability to climb is in fact, very long.

    i wanna go back to october 2019 when rogue was active and not just exploiters and ultras 😭🙏 it's rarely fun to play anymore without a guild and most of them dissapeared when deepwoken dropped

    Rogue lineage inspired a lot of different rougelike games - and I think a lot of people probably tried Deepwoken, found it wasnt really for them, and moved onto another game that came from the influence of Rogue. It's possible that Rogue was just so popular because it was one of the very few Roguelikes that got popular and then caused other games to come from it, where players then moved to the other games if one game wasn't for them.

      literally happened to me i loved rogue and did everything there was to do, deep came out, i tried it, i hated the combat because it was something i wasnt familiar with then dropped it after a week 😂😂

    i think the reason deepwoken has "lower retention time" is because deepwoken utilizes teleports and seperate places in the game like the menu, etrean/eastern lum, depths, dungeons and more so the retention is innacurrate as it could be counting travelling places and leaving the game

      the thing i dont like about rogue lineage is how difficult it is to make any progression without watching 10 different tutorials. with deepwoken it’s relatively simple and even if you’re not watching 10 tutorials you can tell that you are getting stronger.

      @@enriqueedru8998 rogue would be a lot better if you could view your stats and if it had more unique accessories/weapons. every player ends up looking very similar to one another in rogue, it doesnt feel as personal of an experience since you cant really make any special builds that wrent already set up for you (apart from hybrid builds but those are still limited to classes)

    I love rogue lineage, but my main gripe with the game in its current state is that there's almost nobody actively progressing anymore. You can't just pick a class, go out and get grips/rots for it by fighting people on your level anymore. Almost everyone logs on sight (it's hilarious how many people have logged to me, a freshspawn with assassins armor) and grinds alts to get their class.
    For me, at least, the fun in rogue never derived from the gratification of getting your class, but the struggle to get there. Solo progression used to be so fun and now I get an average of one grip per hour. Maybe I'm just really unlucky, but it still lost its charm all the same.
    And Deepwoken isn't any better. The most fun I ever had was in the first week of release, because the optimal experience of the whole game was discovering new places and learning about the game with a group of friends. Any point after that, it loses all its fun. I haven't even done all there is to do in the game and I've still gotten bored of it. Normally, I'm a completionist, but I just can't bring myself to keep playing the game anymore.

      I have been playing rogue since 2019 I have always loved the game and always will but it has recently become build simulator. I make a build on an acc, gank, die, get pd, gank, win, make new build.

    rogue lineage has more retention system because it has more time restricted requirements for most of its lifespawn(COUGH COUGH ILLU, PDS, EVERY RACE IN THE GAME, GACHA, ETC)

    I think that if rogue had the same hype deepwoken had and if its combat system was better with better anims and less bugs, along with khei actually being finished and not super buggy that rogue would have more players even in its no major updates darkage that will continue forever likely

      also rogue has more mechanics that require you to stay for hours and its a much more difficult game with many more black marketers meaning I think that a lot of the statistics are pretty boosted but it would be better if it wasnt given up on, also deepwoken hasnt been out nearly as long as rogue

      @@MarsRover81lso with the animations it allows animation cancels so you can move stack, change it and you stop one combos but in a game with resurrections one combos are somewhat needed. everything is so unbalanced it’s almost balanced.

    Although I do think rogue is better than Deepwoken and would advocate for it, in the ultra class vs max power statistic, the badge for max power was recently created and to my knowledge you wouldn’t get the badge until you rejoined when you were max after it was created. This places a skew on the data, as people who got max (power 60) before layer 2, and people who were max before the badge then wiped, a chunk of the badge count is missing. Idk tho just my thoughts

    I would love to see a game that's rouge lineage with deepwoken level graphics and monsters. I like the idea of classes better than deepwokens power system because there no way to limit or balance this as easily as just seeing a broken class and nerf it or rework it. the whole point of deepwoken was not having classes was so player would be unique but everyone just mains meta builds so there all the same anyway.

    Personally I like rogue and deepwoken an equal amount, both were very fun but I’d probably like deepwoken more if it had the same media bad rogue had. A media bad for layer 2 would have helped too

    Retention stats are weird like that though.
    Rogue lineage had ~Days~ which was a near arbitrary system forcing players to play for 1-2 hours to do any meaningful progression at the start. This obviously increases 'Retention' because if you play for less than 1 hour, you're severely limited in your gameplay, which Deepwoken doesn't have the same issue, letting players use various means to progress and not barring something behind a time requirement. (You CAN do layer 2 at power 1, it's been done. You CAN'T do deepforest without mana climb, barring the entire area.)
    Also Deepwoken has been out for a fraction of the time Rogue has been, and the people still playing Rogue are continually bolstering its statistics.
    Anyway, that's just my opinion.

    Well considering the newish updates to rogue, it’s pretty alright. But the only problem is that now that exploiters are gone it’s a result for all ultras to kill freshspawns it really isn’t all that hard to get classes anymore to be honest. Another thing is that khei is either dead or is being flooded by any other existing houses or friends. But I think rogue is still a good game.

    the only problem I have with comparing the ultra class badge to the max power badge is that the ultra badge is over 3 years old while the max power badge is only 3 months old, and you were using this to show how double the amount of rogue players have played long term, but the issue is that the badge is really damn old compared to the max power one for deepwoken, which already has half the amount in under a quarter the amount of time

      Also like he said in the video, only 1 badge per deep account cause slots. In rogue everyone i knew had alts(a lot of alts). I've gotten ultra classes on 8 different accounts.

    The reason i think more people quit deepwoken is because deepwoken feels less alive with its players rouge they are TONS of reasons for you to talk fight or make peace with anybody you find but with deepwoken you only get that till power 5 when voidwalkers can come after you or power 10 when high levels just jump high levels

    for the time i played both of these games i feel like rogue was more fun but maybe it was the people i got to bound with along the way. without a doubt whenever the friendgroup drops the game i cant help but feel like we couldve committed more to the game but you cant blame them for being less competitive. which game did you enjoy more reactor?

      I prefer Deepwoken more if I'm honest, it's more balanced, and I don't have to worry about some mage dropping an ice nuke on my head every five minutes. Not to mention, race benefits kinda fucked me over since I got Ashiin in Rogue and I was stuck alone so I was fending for myself in an unbalanced hellscape most of the time(when I wasn't in the ded room or saved by some random other Ashiin), but then again that's just my experiences and opinion.

    One of the points you brought up contradicts yourself. You talked about how people who play rogue are incentivized to make multiple accounts to play rogue to make multiple builds. And since rogue lineage has double the amount of people who got the power 20 badge, lets just say everyone had a SINGLE alt account. That alone puts rogue almost below deepwoken because its numbers get fluffed up by that.

    I'll say one thing, Deepwoken's Lore/worldbuilding is Not better than rogue's. Don't get me wrong, it's more available and easier to find like ingame, but it's leagues behind Rogue's lore, which has been in process for years (With Tales of the Valley and Rogue both feeding into eachother)
    Though rogue's lore is Much harder to find, and you do really have to search, it is still a much more rewarding thing to look into than the currently shallow world of Deepwoken (I've gone deep into both)

    I think retention is lower in deep woken because
    1. rogue used to have a lot more times you have to wait
    2. there is a lack of late game content and people don't want to play or some people quit deepwoken and sometimes hop on. so there is a lot of people who bought the game but not a lot of people who play for more than 20 minutes.

    But seriously i feel like you have a good point. Rouge fel5 way more rewarding so when it was in its prime more people were eager to get ultras and ubers, just like how deep was to get power 60(keyword :was). But after verse 2 dropped it was basically playing on easy mode. Yeah content was good and agamatsu was able to still afford doordash but if we were to bring a game with as much hype as prime rouge agamatsu would be able to afford door dashes dash pass. Deepwoken i feel like wouldnt be good if a rouge game came around with smth like deepwoken graphics. The game types ar3 different but 1 in its prime is gonna be WAY better

Now as we both know, Roblox takes around a 30 percent cut of the money made by these Roblox developers so rogue lineage’s Net income is around 221,900$ While Deepwoken’s net income is around 2,450,000$. With this fact in mind, the average cost per order of door dash is around 33 dollars so the total amount of door dash orders you can make with rogue lineage’s net income is around 6724 orders while deepwokens total doordash orders with its net income is 74242 orders.     The badge difference doesn't take into account the maxed powers BEFORE Layer 2 and the creation of the badge, as well as the fact that there is no slots in Rogue meaning there is much more Ultra alts.

    and for ur more people play rogue lineage for longer, because in rogue lineage people have a reason to buy alts since slots dont exist in rogue lineage. i've gotten ultra in rogue lineage probably like 7 times and 6 of those are from alts alone.(meaning i got the badge 7x times), while in deepwoken i've had 20 max slots at once, however i've gotten the badge once

    Also in rogue, the majority of players are consistently running 2 or more accounts some even run 25s so I believe that the active players are pretty much always halved and even more players are in ps. No hate to rogue I love the game but I just feel that the player count is pretty much permanently inflated

    I've always thought of this, arch and rag most likely dropped the concept of tales and rogue that they created including all the lore and events that happened. I feel like the universe in those two games are something that could shine much brighter with their current experience and resources, but now that they have those resources and have moved on, they sadly won't go back. Rogue Lineage 2 or Tales from the Valley 2 sounds very stupid, they don't NEED to use the same lore. The main thing for me is the gameplay of Rogue which could have been perfect, which they abandoned.
    If people wanted a game with the same tales/rogue lore, Arch would most likely say that the lore just wasn't on par, and that Deepwoken lore is better and it's an easier game to work on. But MAN is it boring. Rogue has the intensity in gameplay but less quality, and Deepwoken has more quality but no intensity. I don't see them making Deepwoken feel like rogue, which is why a new game with polished rogue progression would be the only option. *(could or could not be a sequel - it doesn't have to use the same lore, gameplay is most important)*
    TL;DR rogue was close to being perfect, and they have the ability to do that now, but it's too late, they moved on. (the entire game got too much spaghetti code, a new game with their current resources would be the best thing to come out of Monad)

    Both games are no longer in prime but heres the things that make them different or prove which is "better".
    Rogue lineage had less peak players due to it being MUCH more difficult (dw also had way more hype), a person who has 0 clue about the game is practically guranteed to not play or comeback unless they gain more knowledge. Same can be applied to dw on a lesser scale. The bigger ratio of dislikes is mostly caused due to ppl finding the game to difficult and etc.
    Rogue was way more engaging and overall players were more involved with the game as shown with the prime blackmarket freshie azael accs going for around 200 USD LOL.
    Deepwoken is overall "better made" with having better effects, graphics, ost and etc. while rogue was a one time experience with its uniqueness and "fun" combat. Rogue also feels way more rewarding than dw, ppl literally wouldnt fight on their max builds because they were scared to wipe while in dw the ganking lost all its purpuse due to luck being removed, enchants not dropping and chime. + You can only wipe in dw if you get jumped by multiple mobs or by a player which is rare due to the community being less toxic and overall more friendly.
    Only thing dw EASILY wins is progression even though both rogue and dw prog are ASSS
    The builds in rogue feel much more unique too with the artifacts, spells, races and classes while in dw its just "hes a flame med with blindseer".
    Lowkey couldve written twice as much but aint none reading even to this point 💀 Still prefer rogue even when not getting to experience its prime. I enjoy things like the competetive community, it feeling more rewarding, the combat (i hate dw combat) and the risk involved.

    honestly deepwoken became too easy, the thing about rogue is that it was challenging and is still challenging, deepwoken made their grinding system and getting rare things like enchants very easy to appeal to newer players, but since it's so easy right now the game is boring for a lot of players since we can get basically whatever we want. i went back to rogue and im enjoying it a lot right now

    There's another reason to the uber class badge having double the obtainments, it came out after world traveler so anyone with an uber who just hasn't touched the game doesn't have the badge, same with anyone that had uber before and then wiped before the uber badge came out, not to mention sac alts which are usually permafreshie accs.

    Video idea: Chime is killing Deepwoken.
    Now hear me out, there is no doubt that the top 50 have an influence in balancing. At first anyone would be like “Sure good thing, experienced players helping in balancing”. But later on.
    “Chime = Main game???”
    By this I mean that most balancing changes feel more focused for chime rather for the main game use.
    And considering that some top 50 were boosted to their currently spot, it could go to the worse, considering that non experienced players could be the ones making wrong decisions upon having the word in the balancing of the game.
    An example of the terrible balancing are:
    -Jetstriker mantras keeping momentum: in chime is perfect for the Jetstriker, but yet comes difficult once it’s not against 1 person and there is more environmental that players can use.
    -Bloodshadow: Bloodshadow mainly has been nerfed because of Infinite posture (that’s why now Bloodshadow can be canceled by hitting their block), making unable to use Bloodshadow on lightning clones, I used this feature but it didn’t heal much compared to using it against a player (which was way faster), also considering that these clones die in 1 hit by anyone even yourself.
    This has to be brought up as a video to make more attention please.

    Deepwoken might have a better world building, but Rogue Lineage (even when I first joined) felt much more fun due to the atmosphere. Deepwoken's more gloomier atmosphere is probably what drove some people off compared to Rogue Lineage's much more friendly atmosphere (even though deep down you knew evil existed inside of the game.). Rogue Lineage lore (keep in mind im talking about KHEI LORE) is incomparable to Deepwoken's lore. But Tales beats all of them, NOBODY CAN BEAT TALE-

      I like rogue more in the worldbuilding aspect. It reminds me of ds2. Where the planet is completetly devasteted by the 'undead curse' and theres no safe place to go which is why most things follow the same aesthetic in the regular game "dumbknighst with big sword", while deepwoken the continets are literally sinking and you need some water bs portal to travel to sea. Yet stuff pops from other luminants as if travel between them was super mega dangerous and deadly. I like more the idea of a 'b' plot game. Where theres a bunch of stuff happening but you stick to a smaller view since that doesn't affect you.

    For rogue the higher ultra count is due to how the average rogue player had more than one account to play the game on, I don’t think it’s a good time to make a comparison between both games when we take into consideration how rogue lineage has been around for longer while deep has not.

    Deepwoken just feels a lot more messy than rogue lineage for me, the fact that they constantly introduce new concepts instead of polishing content that is unbalanced or just plain garbage (for example some bosses and mobs are just really poorly made like duke or kaido, both of them which are just punching bags, no kind of fight involved)

    honestly i feel i as though deepwoken doesn’t really have much replay ability compared to rogue. it sounds dumb to say since looking at deepwoken it has so many different builds you can make and all the talents and stuff, but for me it almost feels like a chore to make build

      One of the things i feel that kinda hindered the replayability is the attunements, especially earlier on in deepwoken. Sure each individual build might have talent variety, but picking the same attunement will start making it feel repetitive because of the mantra repeats. But thats just me

    Been playing deepwoken since release but since the parry changes allowed for true combos, pvp became very shit. I’m now back on rogue and it’s more fun than ever with shit like roblox account manager, I can make a safe entirely by myself and loot a full CR every 15 minutes. Progression is easier than ever, the players are sweatier than ever, but the game is way more fun than deepwoken is right now.

    as "the dumb kid" that started playing deepwoken because of tank fish, yes i did stopped playing it because it was too hard but later on i realized how good this game is and how fun it is because of permament character loss and difficulty but now i got 500+ hours on it and dont regret anything and i enjoyed every single second i played deepwoken

      I mean yeah, I’ve played since release and only have 700 hours, I don’t sit on my ass 10 hours a day to grind a curved blade of winds. I feel the irl fresh air winds and feel truely content with myself. Deepwoken wasn’t meant to be played for 24/7, and I think because I played it more casually I enjoyed the game a lot more.
