I think the main reasons are really just the update schedule and rogue being a lot less forgiving to newer players who don't already know all the tricks and aren't progressing with a group of friends

Love the vid the reason I don’t play rogue anymore is that it’s impossible to prog without being boosted or having a big group of big buff men who help you when you get jumped and I hate the weirdos that jump freshies
I love when people call a game "better" because of their nostalgia and not because of their flaws and mistakes, just proves people are willing to call anything "good" because of how they played it
@@nacun4740the media ban made sense bc it was meant to be a “community” game, not really made for solo so it’s not better game design for everyone but contributes more to exploration, without a media ban people aren’t going to try exploring in the exploration game and are just going to progress quickly

@@shironage yeah but are we really gonna ignore the fact that progression was essentially putting down around 50-100 dollars on alt accounts and race rerolls for tomeless? also hitting ultra doesn't mean shit when a macro shinobi/faceless surprises you with a 1 shot macro.
@@benj4845 1- The game doesn’t explicitly tell you to buy tomeless alts lol. Just because a lot of people do it doesn’t mean it’s the only way. 2- You can get macrod sure, but if you fight properly you avoid this situation
i believe its cause rogue lineage was way too focused on pvp cause it was mainly just targetted towards a certain audience, but deepwoken is pve/pvp so more players took interest into the game (also its probably cause of the update schedule)
tbh deepwoken showed the player alot more than rogue lineage it having several npcs around the map which gives you clues on how to start + a optional tutorial gives it a better start compared to rogue meanwhile rogue is more confusing to progress and you’ll have to go to the wiki just to even know how to play the game that + every other player is OP and will freshies on sight due makes it impossible to progress without being carried
Like two takes in this video were reasonable, the rest of this video was entirely fueled by nostalgia. The two takes i will agree with are the tundra being superier to layer 2, and rogue lineage having poor pve. First off, deepwoken is a pve game, any poll that questions the majority of the playerbase on whether they prefer pve content over pvp comes out overwhelmingly as pve. The game just looks like a pvp game because all of the pve content is too dry to make videos on. Tha majority of players would not intereact with pvp if they were not forced to, this is why games like bloxfruits that have private servers that allow people to progress without seeing anyone are massively successful compared to rogue lineage, and why rogue lineage’s highst numbers have never come close to deepwokens lowest. Rogue lineages lore is nonexistant. All anything anyone knows about rogue lineages lore comes from unnoficial youtube videos. The only interaction you get from food vendors is being able to ask them about eachother. You used the example of lance leshi, but you left out the entire quest you can do for lance leshi’s brother to try to learn his name, which is alluded to from an ingame book. And that is one example, for two npcs, that isnt even touching on the rest of the worldbuilding that is actually discoverable in game. Deepwoken may have piss poor mediocre world design, but it is a master class in storytelling and exploration, if you are willing to put in the work and pick up a book. (Which isnt hard there are multiple libraries in game) Another point i would like to make is that a media ban would not have done anything. It worked for rogue lineage because it was a tiny game compared to deepwoken, when the media ban was in place rogue was seeing about 500 players at any given moment, and thats without touching general roblox culture, when rogue lineage first released exploiting was way smaller, and way less known about by the general playerbase, expecially compared to deepwokens release, which also saw tens of thousands of players on the game. Deepwoken was an exponentially larger game than rogue lineage on release, even if there was a media ban there would be channels like key exploits that would just use exploits to constantly drop deepwoken info to chase clout. Final point i would like to make is that rogue lineage was a pay to win game, there is no comparison between common races like riggan and castellen to the rare races like dinakeri and djjin, and even when you were going through your progression you needed 5 burner accounts (with the right races on each of them) just to progress your character. And thats after the tomeless buff, it used to be 8 diferent races for tomeless. Early rogue lineage was a magical time, i played back when the community thought that scrooms took 2x dmg, but this entire video is just a nostalgia rant about missing the good old days. Deepwoken has more player than rogue lineage because it is a better game in every measurable form, and because at the end of the day its playable by your average player. Rogue lineage isnt playable.
If my goal was to revive rogue lineage and get a real playerbase going for it i would do the following: Make each artifact obtainable through a method similar to ultra quests or tomeless, each one would have a unique method of varying difficulty dependant on the power of the artifact. Add 7 new edicts, and tell the playerbase that i had added 10. In addition obtainment of each one would be locked behind the real world callender to sow more chaos. Give players an additional artifact slot, and make tomeless take up an artifact slot. Multiply all silver gains by probably x4. Add more loot run dungeons similar to castle rock, and balance them for different levels of progression. Add an npc that can soulbind your weapon. Nerf dmg across the board, no ultra should be able to one combo another ultra. Make races selectable, lock more powerfull races behind obtainment similar to azael or construct. Remove shinobi Either add in a weekly global restore or give players a life back every day (ingame) More pve monsters, and monsters that give chaotic on grip. Finally i would add in the semi safe server system that hallow abyss uses, where some servers protect freshies from progressed players, so like fresh/base class would have protection from supers, which would have protection form ultras, which would have protection from ashiin freshies.
@@spectrophobia4042 this is the most permafreshie suggestion i have ever seen. "no classes should one combo" "tomeless is an artifact" "remove shinobi" crazy
@@opiumsigmaclan I emphasized that no ultras should be able to one combo another ultra, its lame when you lose a life because you just got hit by a skilless faceless combo, tomeless is an artifact I put forward in addition to giving players an additional artifact slot, that way there is more build diversity because you can choose to give up tomeless for something like a lannis or whatever, I get that most players wouldnt give up tomeless so that means their build would just stay the same, and remove shinobi I mostly added as a joke but I dont feel that shinobi fits into rogue lineage, compared to every other class in the game it is overdesigned and feels like it came from a different game.
As someone who bought rogue 4 years ago and still hasn’t gotten a single chaotic ultra class, the memories are still cool and I play it more recently just to prog and it seems like it’s gotten somewhat better, but deepwoken has more of a charm for me since it’s not so hardcore but gives me something to watch out for.
Personally, I believe the main reason Deep has more players is that it gives you room to learn while still being difficult. Not a lot of people mention this, as they have gotten better, but in a begginer's eyes, Deepwoken is a hard game, but the (mostly) nice and helpful community, the forgiving system and the decently good tutorial allow it to remain begginer friendly (this is also why I think limiting voidwalkers would help the game, as they are the most begginer unfriendly part of Deepwoken). On the other hand, in Rogue, you get no tutorial, the system is unforgiving and the community is so toxic that it matches COD (more than once, people didn't even grip after they knocked me, they just held me until I ragequit, I even had a f#cking conversation with one of these people who explained to me that this was his only source of joy, not to mention the main way people get money is through robbing noobs), which makes it so no new players can join the game, and as people quit without new players joining, the devs get less motivated to improve the game, making even more people quit.
@@jeffboy4231 I'll take a garbage tutorial over no tutorial any day of the week (Also, the turotial isn't even that bad, it teaches you the basics of progression and humanoid combat)
I personally feel like ignoring rogue lineage where you basically cant get lives back, once you pick a class (basically attunement from deepwoken for people who haven't played rogue lineage) you can't branch off with another, and another note on classes they are specfically basic super and uber tiers of classes. Attunements in general have more customizability, dual attunement, triple attunement, and quad attunement are used decently often Deepwoken has paths for attunements that can change the main function of it (such as frostdraw chilling/freezing enemies but then later when you get to 40 frostdraw you can get the crystallization path which removes the chilling and freezing of enemies for higher damage output) and dual attunement mantras/paths also exist (Twisted Puppets path from flame and shadowcast) Edit: i forgot about ultra classes being in the middle of basic and uber tier classes in rogue lineages and also fuck edicts, oaths are 90x better
I feel like Rogue Lineage is timeless. Not necessarily within updates, but purely because of the game design. The power spikes between base, super, ultra and uber is steep. However, the reward you get from transitioning through each one was more then rewarding This also adds onto the difficulty. Making the game mainly PVP and making PVE harder to progress with makes the game something you can't just one and done. The need to get stronger and the fun you had playing with friends made Rogue what it was, and when it was updating frequently, it was addicting Deepwoken hasn't fully gotten this down yet. Once you max out in Deepwoken, that's it. There's no conquest, ganks don't give you anything to work towards like leviathan brand or tomeless, or money, or things that held value. And ontop of that, the thrill of only having 3 lives is removed when you can escape depths and you're back to "3 lives." I don't know. I've had alot of fun on both games, but I definitely believe that Rogue Lineage succeeded more then Deepwoken currently.
lowkey rogue seemed fun in its prime, I got akuma a good while ago but I got jumped by a bunch of ultra classes and wiped /: the only thing I would give rogue over deepwoken is that builds are way less complex while with deepwoken you literally cannot PvP or do chime without some ultra specific build
One thing I like about rogue is that pretty much any build you make will be viable in pvp, (as long as you have the required things like tomeless and helmet) Whereas deep, I just don’t like how complicated it is to make a build, this is just my personal taste but I just wanna jump in and have fun progressing, not spend 20 minutes compiling a stat board and a list of talents and mantras
On the subject of maps, I feel like people overlook how important it is to a game. Games like Rogue Lineage and Verdant Moon stand out to me because of the atmosphere created by their maps.
Deep has more players cuz over the time it turned from a passion project to a game that wants to appease to those little anime community brainrots while rogue despite being made easier still holds it original values
even from the beginning it had a few anime references. all they have done is added more content. some of that content is bound to have anime references or references to other media.
@@PBOPFunnies yes, I know but my point was not about the anime references but how the game slowly but surely started becoming more like your average anime bandit beater on roblox instead of what it originally was meant to be
@@PBOPFunnies bandit beating is legit one of the best ways to progress tho (not 100% sure cuz I haven't played much recently). On the topic of progression, every Deepwoken progression looks almost the same which is the complete opposite of what the devs said in one of the q&a's before the game's release
I was FR hoping DW was a better RL but now its just straight handholding I do wish it was more of a community game like how the new weapons/oaths came out where everyone banded together to figure stuff out
@@Shadow_stopzIn recent times, it hasnʻt taken more then a day for us to figure out where to get new weapons and oaths. Saltchemist was found the day it released. The game is too big for ʻsecretsʻ since thereʻs always players in every area of the game. Rogue had a better sense of secrecy when it comes to finding things because there is much more risk when you go through uncharted territory (tundra for example), and the community is much smaller which means word of mouth would spread slowly
It's not hand-holding, the community simply got better, as a relatively new player, I can tell you rn, deepwoken is still difficult, it's just that y'all have way more experience now so you *think* it's easier
@@Shadow_stopz even if it is found normally by a working community, around 2-3 of the oaths are gonna be found in 1 or 2 days because its just so many players. There are about to be like 50k players. The reason media bans even worked with rogue and that they wouldnt work during conquest is cuz rogue had like 500 players when they were doing that. Deep is likely gonna have 100x that playercount
Honestly Grimmkind has made rogue a walk in the park compared to even a few months ago. Trinkets sell for even more, you can get mana run/climb day 0 and dash on day 1. Mana punching now trains your mana, so one round a zombie scrooms is enough for max mana training. Even PD’s are only a uncommon find nowadays (walked in castle sanc one time and 2 pds were just sitting next to eachother) All im gonna say is that solo progressing a chaotic class is nigh impossible with how the player base is. Most of the freshies you will kill for your grips have no issue in spinning back on a snap gate snap hoppa ultra druid. Compare this to orderly classes where you could reasonably get meditate in about 6-7 hours of play time from daily quests, mainly because days are only 30 minutes now and the repeatables are easy as hell
Walk in the park as compared to a boring chore, it wasn't "hard" before, just more tedious. It's actually harder now that the playerbase is so saturated with powertripping ultras and people that don't know how to move on from rogue lol
Yet the game just isn't fun. There's a thousand glitches in the game and seeing spec users is extremely common. Also Rogue Lineage is just a game people have. People will come back just for updates and leave. The game is utterly unfixable. Without my need to mention everyone is banned but it is what it is.
@@mj8135 i could maybe think of a few things that could make rogue a better experience, but i agree the core aspects of the game lead to it eventually becoming unenjoyable, but i just think its fun to come back to with friends and just relive some memories
Honestly came into this video expecting to hate it but you had some good takes. I do agree rogue was never meant to survive but honestly (as of right now atleast) its still around 1.5k-2k players which its held steady over the years. Rogues player base it genuinely the most dedicated set of players I've ever seen and will probably continue to play it for a long while. For me, I do come back and play it every now and then and the game is still fun honestly (despite the macros), personally I think the appeal of the game is the 1 combos and high speed combat but I also understand that it turns a lot of people away from the game (along with its progression system). Tbh I think if it came out today with a few more classes it would hold up to deep but thats probably my rogue bias honestly. Either way love deep still love rogue (yes I think rogue is better) and its cool to see someone talk about rogue reasonable instead of a jagged lens from years of playing
I tried to give rogue lineage a second chance doing really well finding an azael horn being able to boost others. Then being banned from the anti cheat because rogue is glitched atm with no appeal and told get it back because azael and healer isn't rare.
@@secuforreal Right? It really is fun to gamble gate. I don't have any houses to boost me so I play solo I do have my friends but there's no need to call them because I won't commit. 😭🙏I'm glad I will be free
you're missing the biggest factor between both games deepwoken is just a better quality game overall even from verse 1 it was the highest quality game on roblox everything from the soundtrack to the combat the attunements the bosses the depths layer 2 the lore etc etc etc then you compare it to rogue and it just feels like an empty game with no sense of direction yes it was very fun and high quality for roblox standards at that time but it doesn't compare to what deepwoken has today not by a long shot edit: this video feels more like "ROGUE BETTER DEEPWOKEN SUCK IT TOO EASY" it's just rose tinted glasses and nostalgia when you look back on rogue in it's prime it makes me want to go back sometimes to play with my old friends and to compare deep to rogue is just not a fair comparison as there is one that is objectively better than the other due to a million factors while the other game is just full of ogs who just want to relive their memories and wont move on from that game
the thing u said at the end just gave me an idea, the devs should make content for void sea and make a media ban on it, if anyone leaks it they can either move the driftland island or submerge it. this way we can have adventure
Deepwoken is more of a casual game than rogue. I've never played Rogue but as someone who's doing a documentary about Deepwoken, i learned alot. It is true, aslong as you're smart about it, getting wiped in Deepwoken is technically impossible. Eventually you will but it's much much harder. But it still gives something for new players (like me) to watch out, and even the end game players have to be careful, because not all of them are god like in game, and PVP is still a thing.
I like deepwoken’s progression more(Minus the extreme lack of any PvP and the depths being so forgiving), but rogue actually captured the rogue like experience SOO much better. My biggest problem with rogue was definitely how the balancing got split between khei and gaia(khei was ass).
I truly wish to see a rogue lineage remaster or a rogue lineage 2. I think rogue as a concept has way more potential than a game like deepwoken which is just less creative as a whole as it’s a basic rpg with perma death thrown in. Deepwoken was definitely made to make money and rogue was made out of passion. Rogues world is so much more interesting but the game suffers from being old and from the devs lacking from experience when creating it. While deepwoken is definitely not a bad game it was by far one of the biggest disappointment I have ever seen. It doesn’t have the life and soul that rogue had. I wish they remade rogue with into a higher quality game and added similar pve to deepwoken will still having the same feeling rogue had.
I remember a couple months ago me and my friends bought rogue, those moments reminded me of when I first got deep, me and my friends were just tryna find out how to do stuff and get our classes. I went for monk to get dragon sage since I played allusions back then and dragon sage was one of my favorite items, however didn’t manage to get it before we hopped off. Haven’t been on since, but I might hop back on to try to get my class or wipe and go for Uber oni since that looks interesting.
honnestly imo the main reason why is just because of how different the games are, like for example rogue lineage is a completely new concept for roblox, with pvp progression, totally unique compared to other games. Meanwhile deepwoken has only gotten easier and easier since the games release, has bandit beater progression, where pvp is almost optional. i think rogue lineage will average between 500-2000 players for the next 1 or so years because of this though, since it’s the only popular game like this on the platform it retains most of its old players and even some new players. i think it’s wrong to say the reason why this is is because one game is “better” they both just appeal to the types of games certain people might like
I mean, I wouldn’t really say it got easier, it just has been getting a ton of quality of life content like the loot all button and keybinds. It’s still a hard game for new people.
they went even more away from a hardcore experience by removing luck and making xp super easy to get, deepwoken isnt really a permadeath anymore with how hard it is to actually wipe a build
@@Bruh.Andrew it was really bad but it encouraged pvp which made the skill ceiling higher, nowadays the average player cant really parry that well in pvp
invalid take, its not about being hardcore. it is not hard to wipe a build, since the new balancing in the depths making depths monsters spawns almost 3x more often. With that and new and more powerful monsters being added, the game is way harder than what you all are talking about. (btw this is from a deepbound main's pov)
both games have shit engame content but i would feel much better finishing an edict wipe then doing w rank and the combat system for rogue is so much more fun than having 30 minute 1v1s
So what I'm hearing after combing through the glaze is rouge failed because they made inherently bad decisions that chased away anyone who didn't have the time to throw days at a game where you can lose everything to a hacker or gank in 5 minutes. The pve was non-existent or terrible. The combat system was abusable. And just generally the game wasn't fun if you didn't follow a predone meta or counter meta as build diversity was significantly smaller with both less options and more limiting options.
the only reason people like rogue at all is because despite having a horrible new player experience for most those who stuck around are the people who actually enjoyed learning everything and trying stuff out. once that fades away people just stick around because of sunken cost fallacy. deepwoken at least has decent gameplay even after you do it once
It seems on the mentality on the people. I played since release and had nobody ever to boost me or teach me and I never gave up. It just seems like people are babies. The game is hard yew but that dosent make it unplayable.
Rouge lineage has extremely fast pvp combat which makes me wanna play rouge but taking heavy fall damage breaks my leg and I get jumped randomly from max levls and dont actually any prog done.
the thing is that deepwoken dropping effectively killed rogue lineage because most of the rogue players switched to deepwoken when it dropped unless they were a perma freshie because htey were finally able to get ultras with ez and no life's because they spent so much time making builds and stuff it'd be a waste to switch
tbh the main reasons are, new players get fucked, you always get ganked, you can't prog without a group of friends because of ganking. Deepwoken isnt just a bland ass looking map with no navigation, you're exploring the map instead of the exploring the wiki to figure out wtf to do, and you can actually get your lives back without having to find a rare item just to get that life lost again within 30 minutes.
The reason being deep woken is far more forgiving and lets face it deepwoken gets updates and rouge doesn't and ill admit rouges progression is quite painful at times also deepwoken ones up rouge by replay ability
I wish I played rouge but back then I didn’t have a laptop I got it like 2 months before deep dropped but deep prolly one of most fun games I’ve played I got so many funny memories just exploring the game with friend like once we were in mini and he got one tapped by the mech cause I told him to fight it for a katana
i dont know how you listed all these negative features about rouge lineage and still glazed it. just hearing this makes me think WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?. deepwoken also makes me feel like this but much less. also theres a difference between game being "hard" and game being "annoying" or "frustrating"
@@swordlegend3256 @swordlegend3256 player interactions, the adrenaline rush of escaping situations which you should've died in, the feeling of winning a fight actually mattering since its not just beat a easy "mini-boss" and get back to full, its much more noticable to notice your self improvement, maxing your first build (much more fun than maxxin my fisrt deep build). overall to summarize it was just a combination of the community and progression/game style that was only able to be experienced during its peek years of 2020-2021ish. anyways thats a lotta yappin deepwoken better mechncaially and stuff like that cause game is newer with better funding and coding.
I think its because rogue didnt have any weird or strict npcs and no doors you have to open, souls to type something about and battle arenas to fight in, and guts with Blackpowder or any rng ingame but deep had a few
I like deepwoken but i love rogue lineage due to 1 thing and thats the stat system and the talents. If you want to play on a comp level you have to kiss a handfull of builds and not stray from them or you loose unless your a godsweat.
Just by looking at the footage of rouge lineage i find 1 not rly noticable problem and its that the map is not rly scaled to the player mobility like sure some places are massive for this speed but some like the bridges look extremely small which can cause a lot of trouble for someone fighting there and falling off while in deep the movement without jetstriker or mantras is pretty generic enough to not walk 30 min a simple path but not to be barely able to walk with double click falling into the water
ngl im only 3 minutes into the video cause im too lazy to watch all of it but i think its pretty simple: 1: rogue lineage feels more like a closed community game, and deepwoken is much more accessible to a lot more of the playerbase because of that 2: learning the game is very difficult to play solo and literally everyone plays with a friend or a house 3: the combat is like 10x harder to learn than the game, even if you think you got used to it there are techs that change the combat completely and require good muscle memory to be used every time u need it 4: the game lives on very little updates because the ganking is addicting to the people that enjoy it, including me 5. if i had to say either of the 2 games failed it would be deepwoken easily because of how tight knit rogue's community is and how deepwoken just seems harder to look at every update (i still miss the first 3 months of deepwoken)
getting silver is not even close to the hardest thing about progressing in rogue its most definitely getting grips even if you want to say optimized efficient like a scroom alt it will still take longer to get the grips than it will to get the silver as a lapradist. unless dinakeri
The answer to the title is simply that deepwoken is 100x higher "quality" and more polished and gets frequent updates. Rogue lineage is way more fun and has better concepts than deepwoken and if the developers put in the effort they put in deepwoken into rogue it would've been a wayyy more fun game than deep (I know that's not really possible because rogue lineage code is garbage to work on but still)
@@Reaconteurliterally no, it's just that PVP-locked progression will always suck because you have to defeat someone who has more experience than you, better stats than you, and most likely more teammates than you in order to progress, so it *seems* harder, but if you grind alts, it's not so hard to progress, whereas with any souls-like game, you literally cannot "farm alts" to progress, you just have to beat the bosses
@@lunsine Nope, it's just more tedious. What rogue had wasn't "difficulty", it was bad game design, which is what separates it from an actually hard and fun game like dark souls.

hell nah simply deepwoken is going the same way as rogue lineage. They don't give what the community wants. And there's also the idea that the game doesn't really have anything new in the game.
its so simple lmao they just stopped working on rogue and shifted to a different game that casts a way larger net and is significantly easier of course deepwoken will b more popular
this is what ive been saying dude, my friend keeps yapping abt how its wayyy better than deepwoken n shit but I joined the game and looked at the map for one second and I already left bruh
It was very possible and quite easy, it was just a lot of cheese and not that fun. Basically just farm freshies whenever you see them and log if you see or hear someone stronger. It's like farming grips on an alt because they can't fight back for shit, just with the added annoyance of obese monstrosities chasing you sometimes. It really ain't all that, people make solo progressions seem like some skillful shit when in reality you just need a basic understanding of the game and luck. And assassin's armor + symphony of horses if you want to run from anything not including braindead shinobis.
Whats actually super weird is the Devs for some reason DESATURATED almost all the maps and islands for some reason in Deep. I remember I couldnt play for like a month, and when i hopped in i was baffled by why Etris and Songseeker looks so much more aged. Thought it was my monitor, but nope, was an update.
So basically with deepwokens leaked progression problem, make things more mysterious in the end game progression so you have more fun finding it out yourself how to reach your potential Also great choice of music really nostalgic 11:18

thats why rogue lineage was rewarding lol, the power spike you got from finally reaching that ultra or uber was unmatched, thats literally 90% of why it was so fun

@@benj4845 1- The game doesn’t explicitly tell you to buy tomeless alts lol. Just because a lot of people do it doesn’t mean it’s the only way.

@@shironage you telling me everytime you get tomeless you're not relying on alts? get real.
i believe its cause rogue lineage was way too focused on pvp cause it was mainly just targetted towards a certain audience, but deepwoken is pve/pvp so more players took interest into the game (also its probably cause of the update schedule)
tbh deepwoken showed the player alot more than rogue lineage
it having several npcs around the map which gives you clues on how to start + a optional tutorial gives it a better start compared to rogue
meanwhile rogue is more confusing to progress and you’ll have to go to the wiki just to even know how to play the game
that + every other player is OP and will freshies on sight due makes it impossible to progress without being carried
(Which isnt hard there are multiple libraries in game)
Another point i would like to make is that a media ban would not have done anything.
If my goal was to revive rogue lineage and get a real playerbase going for it i would do the following:
Make each artifact obtainable through a method similar to ultra quests or tomeless, each one would have a unique method of varying difficulty dependant on the power of the artifact.
Remove shinobi
Either add in a weekly global restore or give players a life back every day (ingame)
More pve monsters, and monsters that give chaotic on grip.
Can’t blame him, prime rogue was unforgettable, and very fun
@@spectrophobia4042never suggest again this is horrible
On the other hand, in Rogue, you get no tutorial, the system is unforgiving and the community is so toxic that it matches COD (more than once, people didn't even grip after they knocked me, they just held me until I ragequit, I even had a f#cking conversation with one of these people who explained to me that this was his only source of joy, not to mention the main way people get money is through robbing noobs), which makes it so no new players can join the game, and as people quit without new players joining, the devs get less motivated to improve the game, making even more people quit.
the tutorial for deepwoken is outright garbage. unless you mean the well put together wiki
Attunements in general have more customizability, dual attunement, triple attunement, and quad attunement are used decently often Deepwoken has paths for attunements that can change the main function of it (such as frostdraw chilling/freezing enemies but then later when you get to 40 frostdraw you can get the crystallization path which removes the chilling and freezing of enemies for higher damage output) and dual attunement mantras/paths also exist (Twisted Puppets path from flame and shadowcast)
Edit: i forgot about ultra classes being in the middle of basic and uber tier classes in rogue lineages and also fuck edicts, oaths are 90x better

I feel like Rogue Lineage is timeless. Not necessarily within updates, but purely because of the game design.
The power spikes between base, super, ultra and uber is steep. However, the reward you get from transitioning through each one was more then rewarding
This also adds onto the difficulty. Making the game mainly PVP and making PVE harder to progress with makes the game something you can't just one and done.
The need to get stronger and the fun you had playing with friends made Rogue what it was, and when it was updating frequently, it was addicting
Deepwoken hasn't fully gotten this down yet. Once you max out in Deepwoken, that's it. There's no conquest, ganks don't give you anything to work towards like leviathan brand or tomeless, or money, or things that held value. And ontop of that, the thrill of only having 3 lives is removed when you can escape depths and you're back to "3 lives."
I don't know.
One thing I like about rogue is that pretty much any build you make will be viable in pvp, (as long as you have the required things like tomeless and helmet)
Whereas deep, I just don’t like how complicated it is to make a build, this is just my personal taste but I just wanna jump in and have fun progressing, not spend 20 minutes compiling a stat board and a list of talents and mantras

@@mi_kii i mean i guess but what it originally meant to be looked boring. also the game is only a bandit beater if you make it a bandit beater.
@@PBOPFunnies bandit beating is legit one of the best ways to progress tho (not 100% sure cuz I haven't played much recently). On the topic of progression, every Deepwoken progression looks almost the same which is the complete opposite of what the devs said in one of the q&a's before the game's release
I was FR hoping DW was a better RL but now its just straight handholding I do wish it was more of a community game like how the new weapons/oaths came out where everyone banded together to figure stuff out
It still happens a lot like with new weapons, but when conquest comes out they should have a media ban
@@kingstondaking7877 I do agree hopefully when conquest drops stuff stays secret until found by a community working together
Even PD’s are only a uncommon find nowadays (walked in castle sanc one time and 2 pds were just sitting next to eachother)
All im gonna say is that solo progressing a chaotic class is nigh impossible with how the player base is.
@@pantommy I agree but the game can be fun with friends (grass is green take i know but still)

Then being banned from the anti cheat because rogue is glitched atm with no appeal and told get it back because azael and healer isn't rare.

the thing u said at the end just gave me an idea, the devs should make content for void sea and make a media ban on it, if anyone leaks it they can either move the driftland island or submerge it. this way we can have adventure
I wish they remade rogue with into a higher quality game and added similar pve to deepwoken will still having the same feeling rogue had.

honnestly imo the main reason why is just because of how different the games are, like for example rogue lineage is a completely new concept for roblox, with pvp progression, totally unique compared to other games.
For a lack of better words Rogue is just from a different era of Roblox. Wouldn't consider it "dying" though.
For me i only picked deepwoken cuz of graphics and visuals
they went even more away from a hardcore experience by removing luck and making xp super easy to get, deepwoken isnt really a permadeath anymore with how hard it is to actually wipe a build
luck was a really bad system
@@Bruh.Andrew it was really bad but it encouraged pvp which made the skill ceiling higher, nowadays the average player cant really parry that well in pvp
invalid take, its not about being hardcore. it is not hard to wipe a build, since the new balancing in the depths making depths monsters spawns almost 3x more often. With that and new and more powerful monsters being added, the game is way harder than what you all are talking about. (btw this is from a deepbound main's pov)

Deepwoken pvp in 2024 is so heavily influenced by ur build it’s not even fun
Just by looking at the footage of rouge lineage i find 1 not rly noticable problem and its that the map is not rly scaled to the player mobility like sure some places are massive for this speed but some like the bridges look extremely small which can cause a lot of trouble for someone fighting there and falling off while in deep the movement without jetstriker or mantras is pretty generic enough to not walk 30 min a simple path but not to be barely able to walk with double click falling into the water
ngl im only 3 minutes into the video cause im too lazy to watch all of it but i think its pretty simple:
1: rogue lineage feels more like a closed community game, and deepwoken is much more accessible to a lot more of the playerbase because of that
2: learning the game is very difficult to play solo and literally everyone plays with a friend or a house
3: the combat is like 10x harder to learn than the game, even if you think you got used to it there are techs that change the combat completely and require good muscle memory to be used every time u need it
4: the game lives on very little updates because the ganking is addicting to the people that enjoy it, including me
5. if i had to say either of the 2 games failed it would be deepwoken easily because of how tight knit rogue's community is and how deepwoken just seems harder to look at every update
(i still miss the first 3 months of deepwoken)
Rogue combat is 10x harder to learn? 😂😂😂 Yeah bro pressing the button to activate your one combo macro is so hard

The answer to the title is simply that deepwoken is 100x higher "quality" and more polished and gets frequent updates. Rogue lineage is way more fun and has better concepts than deepwoken and if the developers put in the effort they put in deepwoken into rogue it would've been a wayyy more fun game than deep (I know that's not really possible because rogue lineage code is garbage to work on but still)
rogue concepts with deep progression could’ve potentially been peao
As someone whos played both and was a top 50 pvper in rogue deepwoken is simply a better game
I love the fact that Tank Fish called Rogue Lineage harder than Dark Souls
it is
@@Reaconteurliterally no, it's just that PVP-locked progression will always suck because you have to defeat someone who has more experience than you, better stats than you, and most likely more teammates than you in order to progress, so it *seems* harder, but if you grind alts, it's not so hard to progress, whereas with any souls-like game, you literally cannot "farm alts" to progress, you just have to beat the bosses
@@Ammiad which makes it harder LOL
@@lunsine Nope, it's just more tedious. What rogue had wasn't "difficulty", it was bad game design, which is what separates it from an actually hard and fun game like dark souls.
@@theamazinggarbage3209 game difficulty doesnt have to come in just PVE and bossfights, if the game is hard to progress in and play because of players then that is difficulty, especially if thats the point of the game
i dont think rogue lineage failed, its just a deepwoken vs blox fruits situation.
Well because in rogue lineage pvp is forced and wiping is forced and getting boosted is forced in deepwoken its much more fair
hell nah simply deepwoken is going the same way as rogue lineage. They don't give what the community wants. And there's also the idea that the game doesn't really have anything new in the game.
the asnwer is conquest.. which will come out in a decade..😅
@@Max_alabmah conquest is literally just gonna be a boring ass King of The Hill gamemode with nothing new, trust me, it wont be worth the hype
It’s like
Boring ahh gameplay and endgame or way to difficult progression (but still somehow fun ) gameplay and a fun endgame
its so simple lmao they just stopped working on rogue and shifted to a different game that casts a way larger net and is significantly easier of course deepwoken will b more popular
Lmfao dawg this is just a Rogue player talking about his nostalgia fueled days 😭😭😭
to be honest they both failed on not adding ambrosia
this is what ive been saying dude, my friend keeps yapping abt how its wayyy better than deepwoken n shit but I joined the game and looked at the map for one second and I already left bruh
blud saw simplicity and his brain shut off
@@lunsine looked boring
@@TheAquer773 ☠️☠️☠️ bro didnt see 300 effects on the screen and immediately went cross-eyed
@@lunsine tf r u on about?? I didnt actually leave I watched my friend play it and found it boring
@@TheAquer773 thats my point
i solo rogue and i get my ultra in about 4-5 days no boost (Thats 2-2:30 hours) That sounds like a skill issue 5:30
huh rogue didn't even fail lol, deepwoken was just a new game they made, so rogue lineage obviously fell back
6:28 "nobodys really playing the game" it has more players than you have views on this video rn as of posting this comment
literally didn’t because youtube view counts aren’t even accurate publically 💀
@@Reaconteur the point is that you said nobody plays it even tho it has 1.5K?
I hope the devs finds learn from the mistakes and benefits for cursed gear
Learn from the mistake of making rogue open to the public instead of keeping it closed community, lol
cursed gear probably isnt gonna be public
At 3:45, what in gods name happened
idk
solo progressing without alt farming was so impossible in rogue re evolu got an exclusive race for it
It was very possible and quite easy, it was just a lot of cheese and not that fun.
And assassin's armor + symphony of horses if you want to run from anything not including braindead shinobis.
tbh it’s easy for akuma you only need 2 assassinations, game still sucks tho
yk i feel like they should make the rouge lineage wiki a bit more helpful.
it literally has every single bit of information you'll ever need, like what else do you want
Oni silver does NOT take 10 hours to get what is he yapping about
schlawg i don’t have a blacksmith
Eclipse was right. We need casual chime (I suck😭)
Blinded by nostalgia
nah
When you talked about fungzy gati he’s the last actual player that doesn’t macro
visser:
Ice dragon is killable normally
Your supposed to lure the dragon into the pillar(its kinda buggy tho but it works)
thats still not normally its a cheese method
@@Reaconteur dont even respond bro this guy has to be an npc
@@Reaconteurwhy else would they add pillars that only the dragon can break
@@thecomet653 nice so u think they accidentally coded giant pillars that can only be broken by the dragon which kills it
@@76__76 bro u still play rogue shut up 😭
Whats actually super weird is the Devs for some reason DESATURATED almost all the maps and islands for some reason in Deep. I remember I couldnt play for like a month, and when i hopped in i was baffled by why Etris and Songseeker looks so much more aged. Thought it was my monitor, but nope, was an update.
weird
You sure that's not your monitor? Lmao
bro learnt about the new look of insanity pov😅
So basically with deepwokens leaked progression problem, make things more mysterious in the end game progression so you have more fun finding it out yourself how to reach your potential
Also great choice of music really nostalgic 11:18
