Hi! As an Afghan, I just want to point out that Afghani is currency, not a descriptor of the people or things of Afghanistan. So "Afghan art" not "Afghani art." Also it's important to note that the Taliban was installed in Afghanistan by foreign influence as a means of keeping the country de-stabilized. Prior to the Cold War, Afghanistan was a modern forward thinking nation where universities in Kabul educated men and women alike. Duke Ellington even played in the national soccer stadium in Kabul in 1963! For anyone that is unfamiliar with the country and curious to learn more, check out what it was like pre-1979. You'll be very surprised.
That might be in part because “afghans” in English-speaking countries is a kind of throw blanket crocheted with yarn, and is a common beginner project for people learning to crochet. So, “Afghani” might be in parlance to avoid confusion. Though I guess that does mean it’s possible to knit an afghan for an Afghan. 😅
As an American, I am deeply sorry for my country’s role in training the mujahideen and propagandizing Afghanistan’s children to commit jihad. Operation Cyclone, USAID’s jihad literacy project, and our invasion are unforgivable things that my country has done to yours.
I think I speak for many here when I say that we are prominent witnesses to something unique in the asmr community. The way you combine history of a country with poetry, art, personal insight and asmr is unseen on youtube. Incredible how much preparation and perfectionism you put into your videos. 'The French Whisperer' was the only one so far that comes close to what you do. Only you do it much better, more enjoyable, more natural, more varied. And on top of that, you can do much more than these trips down history lane (those blissful role plays!). You really are a phenomenon!
your love of history and research is apparent. as a fellow history “nerd” i thoroughly enjoy these videos. thank you for your hard work and dedication to such content!
I am so grateful for these videos, every time I watch one of these my worldview shifts a little and I am so glad for the knowledge carefully and calmly explained. ❤️❤️
I recently finished a book by Khaled Hosseini, A Thousand Splendid Suns. It is a book about the lives of two women in Afghanistan. Maybe that's why I found this video thanks to the algorithm because I googled information about destroyed Buddha statues.Great video, very relaxing
This was so fascinating and relaxing to me. I’m absolutely in love with your soft spoken whisper. I don’t always fall asleep with asmr, but use it to just relax, which I definitely need tonight/today.
Were you a teacher? You would be a wonderful one! I’d love to see more of these lessons style videos, on any subject! Thank you for all the research and care taken to make this fascinating video!
Loving this style of video, how prepared you are is exceptional! Really appreciating the combination of art, history, and current events with your own interpretation. Looking forward to more videos like this!! ❤
Your Asmr is pleasant in so many ways, your enthusiasm , mixed with the pencil noises onto your notepad that has notes so neatly and passionately written, mixed with the educational aspect and lastly but most importantly, your very relaxing voice. Thank you
Thank you for your amazing presentation on the middle east history it takes my minde off of todays bad news , you have a beautiful voice , its so calming, thank you ❤❤❤
Perfect!! I enjoy your style of normal soft speaking teaching compared to other RUclipsrs who whisper and make all sorts of irritating sounds. This is so much more relaxing and you nailed it! please keep making more just like this. I really appreciate all the hard work and research that goes into your videos
Thank you so much for this video, truly, it was very educational and well explained, even for someone like me who was not familiar with Afghan art at all Hope the pain of the afghan people, especially the women, is going to be appeased in a close future ❣️ Happy to have found your channel, warm greetings from France !
Hi, thanks for this video! I’d love it if your notes (and the pictures too, if possible), where available to download in pdf :) this is a super interesting topic that I’d love to learn more about! And also super calming the way you explain it :)
Your commentary about destroying art before destroying a people was thought provoking. While it may be obvious to you, I'll say what it invoked in me. Art is an expression of who we are and what we think. It's an outflow of our thought and emotion. It can also be a way of quick, mass communication. I think of how quickly a meme can be put out to millions of people and how easily many ideas can be portrayed. As a product and and extension of us it is therefore part of us. Destroy the art and you destroy part of the person or people. It's destruction of their thought, emotion and way of causing mass response. It's a form of intimidation and sends a message that if the pointer or extension of us can be easily destroyed, the destroyer doesn't have a far chasm to cross before our physical lives can be destroyed.
Lovely video and just stumbled upon your channel. Lovely voice and great subject. My only criticism would be the advert popping up loudly in the middle of your talks 😢 otherwise thank you 🙏🏼
My hypothesis regarding art destruction is related to the theory of art regarded as a form of magic since ancient times. Some believed that cavemen depicted themselves taking down mammoths before the hunt, not after, in order to make the hunt successful. Art in that case didn’t have an historical intent, but a magical one. Representation and real object/person/landscape, and the confusion between the two is an interesting subject. The most clear example I can think of is Magritte’s The Treachery of Images. For some, the picture of a pipe is the pipe itself. In conclusion, to some minds, destroying the representation is as strong as destroying the real depicted entity. In addition, some currents of Islam believe figurative art to be blasphemous, arguing that the creation of “living forms” belongs solely to Allah. Not that in this case there is no difference between creating a real living entity and a representation. (I’m loving this video, by the way!)
More accurate to say Taliban resumed power or governing in 2021. The country could have been one of the most developed and progressive in the region if the US state hadn't supported the rich landlords, religious zealots etc prior and during Soviet Afghan era
"During the Soviet-Afghan era" what are you talking about... the Soviet invasion lasted about half that of the US but k*lled at least 20 times more civilians, soviets kidnapped women en mass to r*pe them, extensive carpet bombing campaigns on villages and scorched earth tactics were frequent Millions of "butterfly" anti-personnel mines were dropped all over the country, injuring and k*lling who knows how many people, but especially children The Kremlin has just as much (well, actually a lot more) Afghan blood in their hands as the US
Thank you for bringing light on this topic! This video was both relaxing and super informative, your take on the art with the inclusion of the poems was amazing and really interesting. Love from italy💕
Thank you for this presentation. Maybe the anti-American (and allies) women are used to their way of living and know no different way of thinking or living. How would they know what autonomy and a feeling of agency is like? Just my opinion. I love your videos btw! ❤️
As someone from Newcastle. I don’t know if I agree with that, if anything we are becoming more like Russia…. a path towards potential Revolution and collapse of a state. Atp England will have to federalise imo.

Thank you so much for telling me the difference - I am terribly embarrassed!
@@JessaLynnASMR no need to be! Lots of people use the term Afghani. Totally innocent. ❤

Getting prepared for another hurricane here in FL, and this is exactly the type of calming break I needed.
I just learned about Milton. You are in my thoughts. I’m already devastated by the loss of chimney rock nc, can’t believe more is on its way so soon.
@@JessaLynnASMR - It’s unreal. I work in emergency services and pretty much everyone is mobilized to come in.
This is amazing. You should do a museum curator/tour guide role play! That would be incredible.
Pairing the poems with the art was sublime. Thank you for this thoughtful video. ❤
I am so grateful for these videos, every time I watch one of these my worldview shifts a little and I am so glad for the knowledge carefully and calmly explained. ❤️❤️
This was WONDERFUL. I subscribed on the strength of this video alone-the conversational rhythm, the tone and the information were all perfect.
Love your clear and crisp enunciation, especially when hitting those Ts.

If I could suggest topics for future videos
I would say history, geography, or political topics
Those seem to really capture ones attention
Jessa Lynn, you are so beautiful.
😊your absolutely beautiful 😍 beautiful
I just have one annotation; the color of the video is too white, for the rest, excellent ASMR educational video. And you are a very beautiful woman.
The Taliban is truly evil
Actually, there was no ancient Afghanistan.
Can you please remove the mid roll ads? It ruins the asmr experience for sleep
How old are you?
