@SamMcFarlane247 this signifies EXPERT mode. Besides that- 1) There's more enemies [and they fire more with better accuracy (while also trying to crash into you)] and 2) You wings get damaged in one hit.
All my years beating this game over and over I learned two new things in minutes. 1. I NEVER knew about what would happen if you hit that last spin portal in the asteroid field and 2. I didn't know there is an ACTUAL hard mode. Thanks
I've played this game over 200 times, slaughtered it completely, found every secret in the game, and yet I did not know that hitting all the speed boosts in the asteroid field warped you to a different area.... I am ashamed.
Besides Sector Z, Katina, and Area 6 are the most difficult missions to get medals. Your allies, Falco, Peppy, and Slippy are also shoot down the enemy ships and don't get kill points for you. What a pity!
I recommend downloading the whole thing overnight or something and then watching it in your computer media player. Several different quality videos are available at speeddemosarchive [dot] com / StarFox64 [dot] html - check it out!

I can get a medal in Cornelia even you don't fly through all 7 stone arches, and still score 150 or more point, by saving three wingmen, Slippy, Falco, and Peppy, respectively in Cornelia.

His dad wore sunglasses so it's an homage to his father. When you beat the game at a certain level and/or get all the medals, you unlock the glasses.

@tjbabb1994 Even when you are going fast and spinning due to the warp rings banking (or at least hitting those buttons) makes the arwing turn faster

Here's how to do the warp:
1) FLY THROUGH ALL 8 RINGS
2) COMPLETE THE "LITTLE" LEVEL
3) YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY TO KATRINA
