Jake Mason I played a game today. The releases and shot meter in 2K19 is so weird and the location of it is nuts! And I loved the shot meter last year, until I finally started using the meter this year, now last year is weird. On ball defense was so much better last year. And offball was more op!!!! How is that l??

To see how 20 with the gameplay, it literally takes less skill this year. Don’t get me started on the randoms either.. bcuz this 2k20 really shows who plays 2K

I’d get annoyed last year when people would say 2k19 was trash... I’ve played every 2k... 2k19 was one of the biggest jumps from its previous years game. This year definitely took a step back.. they introduced a ton of new mechanics and behind the scenes systems that frankly are broken this year. Maybe they’re more robust systems that can make the game better moving forward but the way shooting and movement is tuned this year is garbage. Last year felt way better. I’m in the process of editing a video talking about those systems and how they should be tuned. Loved your points in this vid man. Keep the content coming!
2K20 is the worst game of all time. Never seen a game with so many bad mechanics and so many glitches that wasn’t fixed. Love the video especially around this time, gives the 2K devs more time.
Inside defense ruins this game. You have to match the opponent on height, have the right badges and hope 2k gives you a good contest animation to at least get a 25% contest. What makes it even worse is that shooting is so inconsistent that 5 out post hook cheeses is the most efficient way to play
I honestly forget all the small differences in older 2k’s to remember if they were any better than the current ones but since I’m still playing 2k20, everything you said about it was so true

2K19 was a good edition of 2K but it was far from perfect. Shooting was overpowered and certain takeover badges were unguardable. Honestly, In summary, if you did not have a lineup with high tier PD’s or some of the best Opals, there’s no way you could compete with leaning threes, base 11 cheese, and a 3- point shooting Shaq with Slashers takeover.
Man I would regularly compete against pink diamond and opal squads with rubies and budget cards last year. If someone was the same skill level as me obviously not, but I went 12-0 a bunch with budget teams. This year I feel as though it’s impossible to compete with the best cards when you have budget cards. It’s all about the badges in 2k20 because it’s so animation based

The main factor of how good any of the last 2k are is how much you have while playing. 2k18 - fun even with the silly blow by animations 2k19 - fun even though so many things were " overpowered " 2k20 - to many bugs/glitches/rng outweigh any fun that could be had

I still play 2k19 it's better, the shooting motion of players look off in 20 plus I feel the dribbling is better in 19 like the signature dribble you can use for example.
Honestly dude, the main point that i got from your video is that 2K19 was EASIER to play. You talk about how you were casually able to play and have success. Well 2K is moving in the direction where a lot of people are playing for a lot of money now...so the game shouldn't be easier to play, it should be harder. And thats what 2K20 is. Sure its a video game and i understand you wanna have "fun". But thats what modes like triple threat are for. If you don't wanna play real basketball, then go in those modes. As the game gets more competitive, it should get HARDER to play. That's whats gonna separate the pro's from the casuals. I think 2K20 went in the right direction towards realistic bball.
EarvGotti I get what you’re saying but it’s a philosophical debate on how skills should be rewarded... is it basketball knowledge, i.e. generating open looks, being in defensive position. Making proper adjustments to take what the defense is giving you.. OR is it purely stick mastery? Particularly with shooting. I think that type of mechanic can work for competitive MyCareer modes like the 2k league because you have so much more time on with the same animations. In MyTeam where lineups are constantly evolving that just doesn’t work for playability and fun factor. Also things like the irregular movement animations are just not good for the game in any sense... particularly with highly rated players.. that’s the problem, this year attributed/ badges don’t really matter much... the game isn’t tuned in a way that’s enjoyable and that feeling is overwhelmingly consistent throughout the community. My 2 cents

I liked 2k19, but I prefer my experience with 2k20 more. It depends on your preferences and what you want in a game. Content is a huge thing to me, and the content in 2k20 is the best it's ever had and is unmatched. Gameplay wise I can see why some would prefer 2k19. It was easier to make shots depending on the player, but I don't have an issue with the shots in 2k20 and I shoot with the meter on. I can hit shots pretty consitently with it on, and happy with where it is now. It's better then it was in October. Shooting last year was over powered IMO, especially depending on the card. The one thing I certainly don't miss in 2k19 is how OP off ball and full court press was last year. I can get by off ballers pretty easily in 2k20. Even with adjusted settings. Last year off ball with adjusted settings made the game experience terrible. Every rendition of 2k is going to have some toxicity to it. The best way to help that is to remove 12-0. I would just have it where you need a certain amount of wins in that month to get that card. IE. You get 50 wins of Unlimited in February you get Moses Malone at the end of the month. That's just my suggestions to 2k. Reward the people that play the game, not the sweats. Love the video tho man. Good for discussions.
I feel you! Offball and press were super annoying last year. The addition of position locks were needed as well because short point guards are useful this year. I really hope we see them get rid of 12-0 as well though. Supermax was actually a good system if they just got the point system correct. 100 points for a win 50 points for a loss something consistent. Having to go undefeated brings the worst out in people

Honestly 2k19 is better in my opinion. It’s more clean and neighbourhood is way more filled up, the latency is amazing and the game is apparently getting more updates and millions are moving back to 2k19
Bro I spent 2 months grinding my player to a 99. Played park with some trash as players on my team and went back to a 96, lost my contact dunk animations and speed boost and other abilities, I was so pissed. I hate that mechanism. I get that they want you to be more consistent but when you play well but lose because of randoms on your team its bs. My 99 should stay there, I grinded day and night for that shit. Since 2k20 is not about overalls but badges why reduce someone's overall after getting pass 95?
I'm the exact same way. The gameplay is the number important factor for me. If that's not there I don't care what new bells & whistle you've added to the game. Without good gameplay, the game overall sucks.
problem of my team, 📍lag game 📍 centers should never shoot 3s like curry (yao,olaju,abdul etc) Pds or opals, Never 📍offball auto steal 📍Limitess range HOF is shit, ruins the game, 95% only shoot 3s 📍 we need realistic stats
Hard to tell from the video it's one of those things you have play to feel the difference but your 100% right the shooting was SOO much cleaner its so frustrating I literally can't play online I can't make anything. You can actually make moving shots on 19. I think the idea of position locks is supposed to make it less cheesy but now dudes are just chessing with Giannis, magic and Yao. Its a bummer man the content in 2k20 is promising but again just became an unnecessary grind for evos and such.

2k20's gameplay is terrible in comparison to 19 imo, huge step back. Not gameplay related but i also hate position locks. Not because i enjoy cheesing but it's bald faced greed on 2k, it just allows them to release mulitple iterations of the same card at different postitions for more money. Also takes away form the fantasy/freedom to do what you want aspect which was a huge appeal of the mode for me in the past.
The only thing 20 has on 19 is position locks. If 19 had position locks gg. I went back and played 19 and had so much fun because the button leg was not near as bad and the shooting was so much more consistent. If 19 had position locks I wouldn’t even play 20. I just hate going up against Shaq and Yao at Pg.

The lag part I do agree with. 2k20’s latency is horrible, idk what happened. But that’s really the only thing 19 has better than 20. 20 is the better game clearly though. 2k19 was just too easy. Way easy to shoot in 19 and drive to the rim. I love the balance 20 has.
Elvis Adames I get what you’re saying but 20 is pretty easy if you cheese. You could literally post hook every play and score most of the time. Especially if you mix in post fades and post spins. You’ll beat a lot of people in this game if you cheese like that.

I felt more OP in '19 and shooting and dribbling was more simple and sick back then... '20 changed so much and I hate the shooting mechanics now.. dribble moves are gone and have changed.. wtf
Honestly 2k19 is better in my opinion. It’s more clean and neighbourhood is way more filled up, the latency is amazing and the game is apparently getting more updates and millions are moving back to 2k19

Bro I spent 2 months grinding my player to a 99. Played park with some trash as players on my team and went back to a 96, lost my contact dunk animations and speed boost and other abilities, I was so pissed. I hate that mechanism. I get that they want you to be more consistent but when you play well but lose because of randoms on your team its bs. My 99 should stay there, I grinded day and night for that shit. Since 2k20 is not about overalls but badges why reduce someone's overall after getting pass 95?
I'm the exact same way. The gameplay is the number important factor for me. If that's not there I don't care what new bells & whistle you've added to the game. Without good gameplay, the game overall sucks.
Im fine with turning off the meter for mycareer but myteam needs to have a different set of rules and sliders

Hard to tell from the video it's one of those things you have play to feel the difference but your 100% right the shooting was SOO much cleaner its so frustrating I literally can't play online I can't make anything. You can actually make moving shots on 19. I think the idea of position locks is supposed to make it less cheesy but now dudes are just chessing with Giannis, magic and Yao. Its a bummer man the content in 2k20 is promising but again just became an unnecessary grind for evos and such.

2k20 is way better. There are some things that are better in 19, like the post offense. But 2k20 takes way more skill. People need to stop overthinking the game and just play basketball. I feel like everybody wants to just dribble and learn moves off of RUclips. Just play ball. Simple

2k20's gameplay is terrible in comparison to 19 imo, huge step back. Not gameplay related but i also hate position locks. Not because i enjoy cheesing but it's bald faced greed on 2k, it just allows them to release mulitple iterations of the same card at different postitions for more money. Also takes away form the fantasy/freedom to do what you want aspect which was a huge appeal of the mode for me in the past.

The only thing 20 has on 19 is position locks. If 19 had position locks gg. I went back and played 19 and had so much fun because the button leg was not near as bad and the shooting was so much more consistent. If 19 had position locks I wouldn’t even play 20. I just hate going up against Shaq and Yao at Pg.

The lag part I do agree with. 2k20’s latency is horrible, idk what happened. But that’s really the only thing 19 has better than 20. 20 is the better game clearly though. 2k19 was just too easy. Way easy to shoot in 19 and drive to the rim. I love the balance 20 has.
Elvis Adames I get what you’re saying but 20 is pretty easy if you cheese. You could literally post hook every play and score most of the time. Especially if you mix in post fades and post spins. You’ll beat a lot of people in this game if you cheese like that.
Elvis Adames also in 20 it’s way easier to drive. If the team your playing has a guy with no clamps it’s gg cuz you literally just have to rim run over and over again on that player and you’ll score.
The game is sooo bad this year because they created too many badges. This year game is badge based more than ever. If u have deadeye HOF u will pop contested shots like nothing.
