- Today I check out Star Wars The Acolyte. Here is my reaction for episode 1 and 2. I also give my initial thoughts.

I really dig the fight scenes, for me Sol is the stand out character

It's weird because if those 4 jedi did something wrong and are trying to hide it and cover it up. Then that is not the jedi way. It has to be some kind of twist to the story. Maybe the jedi thought the covenant of witches were evil. They possibly played judge and jury. I think Qimir the shop keeper is more involved than it may seem. Only 2 episodes in so we shall see how it plays out.
Indeed & Leslye is a talented writer as can be seen in Russian Doll Telly show. So i have good expectations for rest of the season when streaming via D+ 🙂
So far I'm enjoying it, I have a feeling there's going to be a plot twist coming up with the Jedi 😶🌫️
Yea that is what I am seeing as well. The fact that the one Jedi commited suicide for what he did makes me wonder what they did. And the conversation with Sol about keeping it quite due to politcal enemies also is interesting. I'm enjoying it as well.

Lol no it's a setting on the camera. I only use it for shots close up like this. It doesn't really work well when I am doing product videos.
I like it so far. It is very different than the epic battles in the movies. More of a martial arts movie feel. Each episode should reveal more of the overall story.

The Jedi getting involved in politics is exactly what lead to their downfall. I think that's the entire point of this show if I'm not mistaken, is showing the 'beginning of the end' of what eventually culminated in Order 66.
Thats what I am thinking as well. Its actually one of the points in the show that I hope they delve into a little more.

It's unfamiliar territory for me since I've had no interest in the Old/ High Republic era, but having seen the two episodes, I can say they are a solid alright.
The environment doesn't feel as cozy and familiar as some of the other productions, but it was still entertaining which is all I can ask for.
Yea I was entertained. I definitely didnt walk away from these two episodes waking up my wife to watch this again. I am not as hyped as I was when the first Mandalorian episode aired. But I was entertained and overall had a good time.

This show looks good. I like the storyline that a twin (month of the ♊️ Gemini) is killing Jedi. I give the first two episodes 8 out 10. This is the way

Jorge! What's up man! Okay I'll try to keep this short (no promises). I can honestly say after the first scene in episode 1, my hopes for the show took a bit of a dip. I mean the acting and line delivery is pretty bad. However, let's face it, the same could be said about the prequel trilogy (I'm looking at you Attack of the Clones). One thing that annoyed me (and Jorge you hit on this too) was the dynamic between Yord and Jecki. You'd think Jecki was the knight and Yord was the Padawan. Sol and Yord's relationship reminds me a bit of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. That being said, as much as I like Jecki, I feel she wasn't needed. It feels like she's only really there to make Yord look like an idiot.
As for the positives... I like Mae quite a bit as she's pretty darn likeable in my opinion. And Sol, man, he's amazing! My favorite character so far. Then there's the Jedi Order. Ugh, how self-righteous and ridged they are, I love it! One thing I've come to appreciate about the Jedi are their character flaws and I'm already seeing them here. Oh and the fight choreography is AMAZING! All in all I ended up really enjoying what's been shown though Disney has a knack of fumbling the ball, so time will tell. Hopefully the Force will be strong with this series.
I am with you on every point here. The dialogue is a bit rough, but honestly nearly every actor under George Lucas has complained about that. I think the show has some heart. At least it is trying to be thematically be in line with the prequels I think. They mysteries of what these Jedi did to Mae, what politcally is going on with the Jedi and the Republic, the identity of this Sith Master and how Mae fell in with him are all interesting to me. I hope that they land the rest of the season.
I am crying a little foul with that Jedi being killed. Lyrics to the shoulder there in that area it will be hard for me to believe that someone could be killed by throwing it in that area there are no major organs on that side. Even if it penetrated a lung you can still breathe with the others long and your heart will still be beating.
She did seem to be taken out rather easy for her being a Jedi Master. I think its ok that they killed her off, but I wish the showed how powerful she was before they did it.
I feel like I felt when I saw the Mandalorian for the first time, full of wonder and mystery. I hope it sticks the landing…

After watching the first 2, I think it's ok, but I'm puzzled, I'm really not sure if this is going to turn out as a good Star Wars show but let's give it a chance...., Like you Jorge I'm intrigued, as for the caracters i didn't like Yord as a jedi knight, he really lacks the charisma, but Sol is good, the main actress is great so far, let's hope her story has been well written 🙂

I just watched someone else’s review and they said it was terrible and star wars is over.. haha interesting how drastic people can be with their reviews.
It is pretty crazy how polarized the reviews have been. If they watched it and really didn't like it, thats fine. Star Wars means a lot of different things to different people. What I don't like are the channels that feed on the hate, and they say in the video that they themselves have not seen it. How can you have an opinion if you have never watched it? But who cares. If we like it, we like it.
We already see how inclusive Disney and the directors have become, we see a fat Padawan for the first time lol I hope the force makes him agile lol lol lol

I paid very little attention to the PR for this show outside of the first trailer. I was excited for another new star wars show. However I was like damn they killed off Trinity within the first 10 mins of the show

lol she will always be Trinity haha! It was pretty fast. It would have been cool to see her power as a Jedi Master before they did it. I don't know if you have seen Fallout. But I think they did a good job at showing us a character that we all felt sorry for at the begining and then later the twist that character arc really gives you a different perspective. I'm very curious at what the Jedi did.

HAHA! Yea I have not enjoyed the PR for this show. Disney has no problem shutting down comments from other actors but when they have someone calling all nerds Gay, intentionally using it derogatorily, thats ok? I mean I am actively just tuning out of these interview videos and just watching the show for what it is. I enjoy it anyway

You could've shown some self restraint and personal responsibility and just NOT watched the trailers then...? Then you wouldn't have "bad vibe expectations" or whatever whiny shit you call it lol. Typical old guy yelling about "BACK IN MY DAY" but taking no action to actually change it from your own complaints.
As a fellow 'old guy' I get where he's coming from. These days you don't just get a trailer, you get trailer one, two, and final then featurettes, then behind the scenes and so on and so forth. I assume seeing as Star Wars is what drives his channel, it's not easy for him to avoid it all. And sometimes things can be overhyped and with Disney's track record, you just never know how things will go. That's my take away after all. 🤷♂
Thanks man! That's exactly what I meant. Sometimes showing less gives us more. The fight at the begining for example was shown several times over and almost in it's entirety. Also, just before I went into my office to watch the show, I was playing Star Wars Hunters on the couch and my wife was watching the news. A commercial for the show aired showing even more. I had to run out of there quick. It's cool to be surprised sometimes.
