    Not only great information, but excellently presented!! I’m 70 years old and have heard many presentations by some well educated speakers, mainly in the medical field at the university medical center, from which I retired. Three things I noticed…you know and love the material, you have great grasp of the English language, and you are very articulate!! Son, you should also teach public speaking!!! Thanks for the info!!!
    Blessings, Robert

      Robert,
      Thanks for the kind words! I do teach middle school English for a true living, but my students probably would say I bore them to death more than anything. :)

    To test your shafts for any micro cracks, run a cotton ball over them. If it has a crack that you can't see, the cotton will get caught up on it.

    Use that orange can of kano aerokroil. It promotes bleeding and helps prevent rust

    Should I put any cam/serving oil ( like scorpion venom or dry teflon spray lube) on the cams and servings?

    Good info, great time of year for cleaning, organizing, and preventive maintenance. I spent 7 hours today in my man cave (pole barn) going through 6 totes of camo clothes, 2 totes of hunting gear and 1tote full of boots. When that was done I checked over and touched up the paint on 8 tree stands and 4 ladder sticks. Plenty of time for the paint smell to dissipate before next season, tomorrow I'll be using your tips to work on maintaining my bow and arrows. Thank you AJA

    Would you recommend oiling the cam axles on a bow?

    My bow has been sitting in my basement for 2 years unprotected. Its filthy, covered in dust, mold, spiderwebs. Any tips to clean it up? Should have been in a case now im kicking myself. Scared to try to clean and shoot it at this point.

    If the broad heads are rusty, do we still apply jelly or do a different approach?

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  5 лет назад +1

      If they have rust, hit them with some wet sandpaper (super fine grit), steel wool, or a metal brush to remove the surface rust before applying the Vaseline. Just applying the jelly over top of rust will seal it in and not actually rectify the issue but possibly exacerbate it.

    Just found you. Great stuff. I must confess I’ve really neglected my bow. Going to give it a hard look. Yikes. Many thanks

    I’d like to make one suggestion. That’s to use a less harsh solvent than acetone in case there are plastics or finishes that are susceptible to it. Maybe isopropyl alcohol instead?

    Good video! I also would add putting a drop of oil on each side of the cam on the axle.

    Thanks for your efforts and great information. Does it hurt a bowstring to leave it under tension for long periods of time such as with a cross bow?

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  5 лет назад +1

      Not at all! They are designed to take such abuse. But do keep in mind bows like recurves and longbows could possibly warp the bow's limbs. But for modern bows and crossbows this is not an issue.
