I hope you will draft this set a bit more than you have the previous 2-3 ones. This one seems really interesting and the powerlevel is much closer to ravnica than what we have otherwise gotten. Stryxhaven was fun, but damn i feel like it passed in the blink of an eye... Im not even sure i remember all the cards from it
Nice draft and well played matches. Blue / black just seems so good: synergy and versatility and mostly with commons and uncommons. Great job on displaying cards when talking about them for a specific point or just some inserted text. Very good quality video editing that provided that extra useful info: well done!
Who would have thought you don't take the first rare you open for your very first Innistrad draft! I loved it, this perfectly shows that draft is a true different format and power among cards may not be what we expect. Big GG's for this draft, good deck, opportunist is such a good black card ^^ (especially with a lot of removal as black was open).
@@CaptTeamwork Maybe we should expect commons to be just as fun to play with as mythics and rares so it doesn't even matter if a few cards here and there suck.
I don't get, why it wasn't high priority before. That card is obviously so much gas. Card advantage is really important, especially in those drawn out limited games.
Wow dreadhound and opportunist wheeling pick 10... I might've even picked the dreadhound there; I've never beaten an unremoved dreadhound before and neither have my opponents. The drain effect working both ways is HUGE. It's a Syr Konrad on steriods. And opportunist has sometimes been bad because the 1/3 body is so weak and I either won't have time to use all those cards or just don't have enough material on board to gain proper card advantage.
think in few weeks people will see the value of the lurker zombie especially in the dedicated decay strategy. also great in this deck specifically for the sacrifice capability as it's a 1-drop and it blocks so well in this format with 1/3
Since splendor refreshes the noted life each turn and you only need equal or greater life, wouldn't you draw a card each turn unless you lose more life than you gained or if the board is stalled with no life change. I originally thought this card was horrible in draft until I reread it. It is good in lifegain or defensive decks but it is quite bad with aggressive strategies or if you are behind.
Can you make a deck around Lord of the void? It's a hard card to play since of it's mana cost. I have been trying to figure out a good way to use the card but I never have a chance to play the card in general. If you can it would be appreciated.
Tfr was my first time doing limited as I was new. By the end of it I was going infinite in quick draft. Now I'm trying sealed and even referencing the tier list spread sheet. I cant seem to get more then one or two wins. Even using the things I learned from draft deck building.
Drafting different sets is really shockingly different. I do really well on some, and abysmally on others, and I'm not experienced enough to understand why, haha.
Sealed deck building is different than draft because it's tougher to hit your synergies. Therefore you should rank down cards that depend on other cards to be good and rank up cards that have a lot of play on their own. Sealed also tends to be slower so rank up card draw, larger bodies, and evasive creatures. The other thing is to look at your specific pool to see what jumps out i.e. if you have two voldaren stingers two vampire socialites and a stromkirk bloodthief then ignore all other advice and create a max gas vampire deck etc.
@@jacobmartin9021 Nice advice. I found I have to splash into a 3rd color every time. I've been following most of what you said anyway but the one thing I wasn't is gearing more towards late. I was building mike deck like I would in quick draft. Making sure to have good curve and PLENTY of 2 drops. I guess it's better to have more bigger plays and card draw in this mode? I would say I've been drafting with no more then 4-5 4 drops, 2 5 drops, and 1-2 6 drops.
@@Stickyrolls123 Yeah you should shift the curve over by +-1 per column or so for two reasons. 1. the thing about 2 drops is that the premium 2 drops are very good but they drop in quality quickly. You get to look at 420 cards in draft vs 84 in sealed so odds are you aren't going to hit those premium two drops as much. 2. Because of the looks disparity people have less removal in sealed. Therefore a large creature is less likely to simply be a negative mana trade like it is when it gets removed.
Hostel is pretty broken. Sure it take a few turns to get going but you pretty much win the game if it does. Underestimating the card my friend It got me a 7-1 run
That's still anecdotal. It requires very specific circumstances to be good and not making colored mana is a huge drawback. The data from 17lands seems to back this up, as the card will negatively impact your win rate on average.
I feel like black is just too strong compared to other colors this set. Literally everyone at the prerelease I played yesterday had black in their deck... might be a coincidence, but 18 people coming to the same conclusion at the same time is a bit strange.
Eww, he ran into the same BW deck three times in a row. This does not look like beginnings of a fun format if everyone just drafts the same, strongest color pair :(
This is not necessarily bad. If several players try to draft the same color combination at the same table, other archetypes will be open. Too bad you don’t play against players sharing the draft table with you. However, this is just the beginning of the limited environment and things may change.
I'm surprised you skipped over the rare and mythic. Especially pack one, pick one. WotC should pay attention and do better on card design. I'm not saying every rare or mythic should win the game but you would think a player would grab the rares or mythics...
not necessarily, the main point of rares and mythics is mostly to diverge from the usual way to play the game. I think its fine that some of them are focused enough on a play style that they just dont fit in a typically broad limited deck
Splendor is actually way better if you read it closely since the life noted changes each turn and you only need greater or equal life to draw the card plus you can gain life by playing white spells. It's great at parity and winning, but not great when losing life quickly and you need a defensive deck or lifegain.
@@misterogers9423 seeing the way the games play out, you need to play to the board. Even the tome gives you a tap ability on the backside that effects the board. The rest of his card draw effects are stapled to creatures with the draw 2 black instant being treated as filler.
