the printing of doppelgang has probably been the happiest moment in recent magic history for me. what a card. only use it to copy lands of course, having an order of magnitude more mana than the opponent and using it to get even more mana is the true win condition.

play limited, get good at draft, go infinite with an average of 4 wins each 7 matches, and you will put toghether the entire set collection in a few days for basically free. that's what i do, and i am not even a top player.

A guy at my local plays a similar deck to this, except he copies the OTJ crime lands. He calls it Simic Burn. He’s talked about splashing the landfall lizards for even more damage

I've been playing a RU version that just uses Season of Weaving and Three Steps Ahead to copy Cursed Recording a bunch then cast Lightning Strike at face, it works surprisingly well. I think you need the 1 extra damage of Lightning Strike over Shock to make the math work out, you can often make 7-8 copies but 10+ can be hard.
Oh nice. I did a Jeskai version of this with Ral. White was splashed for board wipes and Union for heals and card draw. Then the blue red room that does damage/draws a card at the end of each turn.

Hey legenvd would you consider making a forgefire automation deck? I find it fun to use with cards like angel of invention and combat thresher and then have a decent blink sub theme since both those cards are decent reanimation targets for forgefire and both they and it love being blinked
There were definitely a lot of options that turn! The main focus at that point is managing the time counters and making sure we can close out the game in time. Wasting their mana would've been a nice bonus, but not critical to playing out the rest of the game.
The fight against White made me think... what if you splashed in white instead of green. If you get a ton of lifelink the 20dmg from the Records is not that difficult anymore.
