I've followed my gut before and ended up miles off. I think you are right with the blazes. They burned them off. It's great that there is someone who can hand out a map and offer help. At the beginning, you said Stephen. Is it Stephen, Steven, or Steve. I don't want to assume and get it wrong. I always carry too much water with me after running out on a hike a year or so ago. It is certainly a beautiful wooded area. Is it true that if a Gator is after you on land that you run in a zigzag, or is that an old wives tale? I get it with the road walk. It does my feet in. I did 12.33 miles today and 2247 feet of elevation and then the same down again. My feet hurt 😂. Thanks for sharing.

I think I’d take my chances running straight instead of zigzagging. Gators are pretty fast for a short distance. I have never known of a gator actually chasing something down on land they usually have short bursts as they ambush prey. It is Stephen.

Great Video, love Colt Creek Statepark. I usually park all the way at the end by the equestrian area and hike out to the Hampton Tract , totally wild and scary but fantastic, you can go in any direction from Hampton and hike the Green Swamp .( I have climbed a gate in the park before to get to the Green Swamp 🤭 and hiked all the way up to the main road to the East entrance Green Swamp ) I have seen Florida scenic trail signs in there .

This was my first time hiking there and I will definitely be back for more. I’m even thinking about camping in the primitive sites someday. Thanks for watching. I enjoy making these videos to share and to look back on someday.

The Lady Ranger at that park is awesome very friendly and helpful...I love that place! I had my bear encounter camping in the backwoods campsite in the middle of the night there. Yes...I reommend bear spray,,,I carry it with me all the time. You can get bear spray at REI and most outdoors store have it. Wal Mart may have some too. I think you may have been going in circles..I blame technology and aps...paper maps are always correct in my opinion! I got lost in the Jumper Creek wilderness years ago. In Colt Creek follow the numbers! Those gators love the culverts!

The ranger was very nice. I think I would like to back country camp there when the weather cools down. I’m now more familiar with the trails and the signage but I was scratching my head there for a bit. Have you made a video about your bear encounter? Thanks for watching and always commenting.

@@walkeroutdoorsadventures8521 I made a video describing my encounter...but none of the actual encounter as I was more concerned about surviving...lol

Colt Creek is my favorite state park. You can buy bear spray at Bass Pro Shops. I carry it at Colt Creek as well. Bears have been seen there as well.

If you add the road walk to the trail, then what was the total for the hike?
