I feel kind of bad for the dog challenge one. She clearly put her all into making that dish, the fact that no one in her team corrected her is a bit more concerning. I understand the switch to team was out of the blue but they heard and saw what she was making. They wanted her to fail. I get being in a kitchen is competitive but you need to be able to rely on your team.
it wasnt fully competitive atm though outside red v blue. them not helping her only screwed their WHOLE team out. plus the show also teaches how to work as a unit of which that team greatly lacked

I think the most iconic moment of him asking if someone is high is when Matt (season 4) presented him the exotic tartare with venison, caviar, quail eggs, scallops, and grated white chocolate as his signature dish and Gordon asked him if he smoked and he replied with “Cigarettes?”

In the UK (at least) all dog food is legally required to be consumable by humans, so Sade making her meal for the dogs is, while unusual considering the show, not a bad thing. I mean, it's still technically edible, right? 🤷♀

I've heard that cold water heats up faster by several different adults when I was a kid. There is an old wives tell that claims cold water will heat up faster. Some people even claim to understand the science behind it and say that the water molecules are able to be stimulated more easily while they are cold. It doesn't make sense, but they believe it, and then they pass that false information on to their kids.
Hot water is what freezes faster
I'm so glad my mom taught me to use an electric kettle first and pour the already very hot water in a pod afterwards. Saves a lot of time and energy.

Suzanne rubbed me the wrong way right after she made that statement about her food and her arrogance. The Welcome home episode aggravated me but also made me happy at the same time. The aggravation for Suzanne’s awful, awful ‘leadership’ and cockiness but what made me happy was seeing everything that she boasted about and the ‘surefire win’ blew up in her face.
Honestly she should’ve been eliminated when she questioned Chef Ramsey on their lost in another dinner service by requesting ‘a play by play’ on their service. I remember thinking ‘Oh my god, she did not just say that!’ Robert’s comment about her stupidity was spot on.
Yea its always strange when someone you really do not know very well rubs you in the first place and when they do it wrong its even worse...

To the last one, a customer should never have to speak with the cooks directly to ask for the food. That's what the server is for. She completely ignored this, basically asking for unfiltered information. The cooks aren't there to deal with the customers directly unless something serious is going on. Delayed food is not serious enough.
Yeah, and also it’s Gordon Ramsey? Like he wasn’t going to make a rude joke at her expense for walking up to him when she should have asked a server?
To be fair to Wendy, before I knew too much about cooking, I'd been told that cold water boils faster than warm water. Which I realize is completely counterintuitive. But I can understand her hearing that before.
its a common myth that has been disproven. The discrepancy in temp causes the cold water to take in heat faster than hot water would, but that's only until it's not cold anymore, so it still takes longer to make it boil than if you just used hot water, and this is where the misconception comes from.

I was always taught that cold water boiled faster as well. This episode was actually the 1st time in my life that I'd heard otherwise.
Hot water freezes faster than cold water. It's called the Mokgumbo effect. (Spelling probably wrong). I think that's where the confusion lies.

I don't mind people being vegetarian.. but as a chef you need to be able to cook what's on the menu. If you only want to cook veggies then open a vegetarian restaurant. So, is no excuse. Especially in a contest as this 🙄

21:25 Listen. I dont know a ton about cooking. I couldnt even tell you the first thing about hawaiian cooking. But if that woman told me to my face, “hawaiian food and asian food are basically the same thing” i would scream.
I've never eaten either (reaaal small town, the most cultural restaurant is the Chinese buffet) but even I could guess that food from two totally different places and cultures don't taste the same 😂
I'm fully aware that in the end this is a competitive show but like, there's too many instances where the competing chefs dont work as a team or act completely antisocial during dinner rushes and are almost never called out for it. Like isnt the point of the position they're all fighting for basically require that they form teamwork/social skills? How can you be a leading chef when you cant even communicate with your team?
also like, first thing should be the folks you're serving food to, right? Food and teamwork should come before in the kitchen and your skills should decide. And yet, people just... man.
Maybe call-outs happen between the lines idk. The competitive sells better though sadly.

For the last "customer", the one who she needed to talk to is the maî·tre d' (Chef Ramsey's assistant on the floor, aka head of the waiters) the kitchen isn't really responsible for taking the orders.
Was it John Felippe? That's the person she should've asked or at least one of the waiters.
I dont think that would have mattered, honestly. She wanted the chefs to know that she was an impatient brat. I think her being escorted out was a good call. Who the hell throws things at chefs in a professional kitchen.
Sure, waiting a long time for food sucks. But, she chose to go to Hell's Kitchen, where it's known people can wait a long time for food.

I heard somewhere that in Hell’s Kitchen there’s some kind of rule that the customers aren’t allowed to go up to the hot plates if they have a complaint like could you imagine being in Ramsey’s position where both kitchens are behind on orders, food is coming up to hot plate undercooked/overcooked, the chefs communication is poor, you’re trying to lead 2 kitchens at once and there’s a customer at the hot plate yapping your ear off while you’re trying to call out orders. Like every time a customer goes up to the hot plate to complain Ramsey tells them “just give me 2 minutes please to call out this order” and while he’s trying to call out orders these arrogant entitled customers won’t shut up for 2 minutes so Ramsey can do what he needs to do, his attitude towards the customers is completely justified in my opinion
I’m pretty sure Antonia (the one who made the gumbo in the signature dish challenge) left the show due to a medical emergency

Elizabeth cracked me up with the “they taste similar” like no not really sometimes maybe/yes but often no and then proceeding to just lie (or maybe just lacking some brain cells) saying they said Asian screwing everyone over is really something else
How can anyone say the Karen didn’t deserve that? Maybe his opening comment was a bit much, sure, but Karen’s deserve absolutely 0 costumer service and Gordon did the absolute right thing in not only berating her ego but also kicking her right out of the restaurant.

Jessica would’ve given up under pressure eventually, if it wasn’t because of pressure it would’ve been because of conflict between teams or her own team members- which is why she gave up in the first place
To be fair to Sade, if the judges were dogs she would've won, I've never seen dog food look that good, even from people who make it themselves.

Even if you don't eat meat You need to know how to cook Many different food items If you want to be a Chef. Such as cooking pasta, meat, lobster, scallops, oysters, Whatever is on the menus. Get a well rounded knowledge base about the different choices made by Meat Eaters, Vegan and Vegetarian.

On the last one, if I don't remember wrongly, that wasn't the entire encounter with the costumer. I think I saw on Hell's Kitchen uncut or somewhere else that Ramsey tried to talk calmly with the woman at first, but she wouldn't stop. In the end he lost his patience and, I don't remember what he said, but it wasn't the part that was shown in the show. Still though, the woman was out of line for flipping the plate. It would have been pretty funny if it was actually her food that she was flipping over.
Bro what about that one contestant that dumped the pasta into the garbage, and then preceded to dig it out back out of the garbage and tried to serve it, and then got called out for it 😭🤣

There is no way a gumbo can be cooked in 45 minutes!! The spices have to blend together... I cook my gumbo on the stove 2 hours at least. I've also cooked it in a crockpot for 5 to 6 hours.
That last lady was completely in the wrong. As individuals we are responsible for our actions no matter what. So he hurt her feelings, that still gave her no right to waste someone else's food whom had nothing to do with said situation.
The problem with the chefs, is that they don't communicate at all when they're under pressure.

If Sade had paid more attention to her team mates, she’d have noticed much sooner that everyone else was cooking PEOPLE food, not dog food.
I've heard that cold water boils faster from so many people that I had to look it up to make sure I wasn't crazy.
I do have to admit the last one has always rubbed me the wrong way. I understand it’s a very very stressful situation for all the cooks but to treat a customer like that is just not right. All she wanted to know was how long her food would take. What she did in retaliation for his harsh and disrespectful comments was not right either. She waisted peoples food and all the hard work from the chefs to prepare it. So yah she should have been kicked out, though the way Ramsey was acting towards her really took the situation from a 3 to a full 10.
That one commenter who sympathized with Wendy is also incorrect. Hot water doesn't even freeze faster than cold water. Did everyone fail science class? How is hot water suppose to freeze faster if water freezes at 32 degrees F.
If you have to get to 32, what is closer, a colder temperature like 45, or a warm temperature like 90?? Same thing the other way.
The reason Wendy made this mistake was probably because of a joke "Life Hacks" post stating that cold water boils faster than hot water. It was a post made to waste peoples time and prank people, ya know? I guess she fell for it, despite it not being logical.

And that's the end result. You ppl should watch the french version of top chef to see real talent on display

I think you need some amount of cooking knowledge. I've seen home chefs on there, but they still know how to make food. I don't think you can just walk in with zero knowledge of how cooking works though
At the very beginning, like the first two seasons it was anyone. They changed it to you had to have some kind of cooking experience or background
The last one was a Karen scorned. You don't go up to a pass at any restaurant. There is a waiter/waitress and the Maitre D. If you have a problem talk to them, if you are so unhappy - leave.
