Great video, but I had kinda hoped you would include 24 Hours to Hell and Back with it, since it is the same concept as Kitchen Nightmares. I was at the final taping of that series in Ellicott City. I was in the "on air" crowd as he made all of his announcements. He lingered for a few moments, so I wandered up hoping to get a couple seconds of his time. I managed to say, "Thank you!" to him and shake his hand. A producer rushed him off before I could clarify that the "thank you" wasn't JUST for his work in Ellicott City, but for all of the inspiration he's been to me personally over the years. That episode was filmed just before the pandemic hit, and it was actually filmed over 4 days. Ellicott City still hasn't fully recovered from those two massive floods, and I don't think it ever will. So sad. My wife and I always enjoyed going down there a few times a year.

Some of these restaurants might not be open today, but surprisingly did manage to last several years after Gordon’s visit. Most seem to have shut down within a year, probably because of the huge amount of debt they had
It won't if you can't keep up after he's gone, but to be fair, if you can't pay the debt you're in you're not going to succeed. A 30% revenue increase is nice but that doesn't mean you'll be able to keep rising and get out of the red.
the sandgate was one of my favourite episodes. if only for the fawlty towers references. bringing in a french matre d (basil fawlty would've been appalled!) least he didn't mention the war. imagine an argument between ramsey and basil; that would be hilarious.
Brian and Elaine moved from there to a place called Aldborough and opened a pub called The Ship Inn. They had until they both retired. It was a fantastic pub and both Elaine and Brian were lovely people!
14:30 As a former Babylon town resident, I can tell you the Post Office Cafe is a marked improvement to what Brian's seemed on the show. It turned out Peter was a failed mobster when he was running Peter's. 31:50 I frequented Classic American a lot when it was a better quality restaurant. It became Ala Turka Restaurant after Classic America closed but Ala Turka closed in 2018. With the high costs to run restaurants on Long Island, it's no surprise the Long Island restaurants shut down or changed hands a lot.
I actually had lunch at Campania in New Jersey shortly after it was on Kitchen Nightmares and the meatball recipe Gordon taught them was incredibly good. Sadly the owner committed suicide a few months later and it closed.
I can't remember which one it was, but there was another where Gordon was about to walk out, it was where he found a dead mouse and the owner's kept saying he and the production team planted it
3:33 wasn’t expecting to see something on the Chelmsford high street… but it’s not called Saracens anymore: I believe they closed, then opened again in 2020 as The Garrison Tavern but I think it’s still got the old Saracen’s sign on it? Been a while since I’ve actually walked past it, so… just thought I’d add onto that!
When I binge-watching all the episodes of Kitchen Nightmares, I wondered what are these restaurants fate till now and luckily this video pops out in my timeline :) Thanks for the video btw 👍🏻
I'm from New Jersey, and the best Irish pub I visited was Kelly's Tavern in Neptune. It has great fish and chips! Dusal's and Vince's Pizzaria are great, too. They are all down by the shores, though.
Watching this after recently being hooked on watching these and i think all or most ive seen have failed. Atp ill be surprised if any of these restaurants have survived. Omg almost half through the video got a restaurant that actually survived. Wow two in a row
A lot of research went into this which I appreciate But would like the same info/updates for all locations. It’s amazing that -10% of the restaurants are still open. Tough industry!
The narrator said it well: reality of the restaurant business. Many are out of business almost as fast as the next one springs up. And many fail, because the poor habits and lack of expertise existing before GR arrived often isn’t broken in a few days. Once the stress comes back and Gordon isn’t there to settle things, the old habits return.
A few of these, even though they are now closed still lasted awhile. That’s an accomplishment in the restaurant industry. The Dr who also owned a restaurant, at least she has her medical practice and some highly intelligent accomplished people just can’t run a restaurant. That’s not failure, she’s a Dr. Those who are still open, good for them surviving near closure, a pandemic, and everything else. Those who sold for a good price, instead, also a good outcome really.
Exactly... There were more successes if we count those who lasted many years after, even if they're now closed or sold. There was at least one couple who gave it a good run, but finally age encouraged them to retire. I consider that a true success.
If I counted correctly, 18 restaurants are still open today, although I would count it as 17 since one has the same name and menu but different owners. That's a LOT more than I expected.
the thing about most if not all of these restaraunts, you have to continually update your menu with what is the current trends, a lot dont do that, their menu sticks and they will not change them, if your menu isnt hitting, go around the town and see what is, then change your menu, the only places that get to keep old favs are the high end places that can charge ridiculous prices and even charge you for sitting at the table, but even they have to innovate and add new items while keeping old favs like beef welly.
After watching this I realized season 8 has the highest success rate, probably due to owners already know if they don't change they will fail. Kudos those that survived till today.

Would love to see you cover more of Costa del nightmare episodes. My favourites along with UK KN.
They are coming soon!
"D-Place is in D-Shit" is still one of my fave lines ever on this show!
I needed this video, thank you so much
Love it! Yesss updatessss❤❤❤❤
Brian and Elaine moved from there to a place called Aldborough and opened a pub called The Ship Inn. They had until they both retired. It was a fantastic pub and both Elaine and Brian were lovely people!
Excellent quality video, will be subscribing. ❤ Thanks a ton.
My pleasure and welcome aboard!
High quality as always
I can't remember which one it was, but there was another where Gordon was about to walk out, it was where he found a dead mouse and the owner's kept saying he and the production team planted it
Blackberries!
Brilliant video, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
3:33 wasn’t expecting to see something on the Chelmsford high street… but it’s not called Saracens anymore: I believe they closed, then opened again in 2020 as The Garrison Tavern but I think it’s still got the old Saracen’s sign on it? Been a while since I’ve actually walked past it, so… just thought I’d add onto that!
When I binge-watching all the episodes of Kitchen Nightmares, I wondered what are these restaurants fate till now and luckily this video pops out in my timeline :) Thanks for the video btw 👍🏻
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed!
Love your voice 🎉🎉🎉
thanks!
Rubbing my front bottom to it
Thank you so much for this video.
It's my pleasure
Thanks For Sharing!
Thanks for this!
The Oceana Grill episode really has been scrubbed from existance, huh?
A lot of research went into this which I appreciate But would like the same info/updates for all locations. It’s amazing that -10% of the restaurants are still open. Tough industry!
08:39 two headed cow
confused me when i first saw this on the show
The narrator said it well: reality of the restaurant business. Many are out of business almost as fast as the next one springs up. And many fail, because the poor habits and lack of expertise existing before GR arrived often isn’t broken in a few days. Once the stress comes back and Gordon isn’t there to settle things, the old habits return.
The Priory was truly a awesome episode.
Burger Kitchen man... I wrote an essay on it for a college English class, got an A+ lol.
Mama Cheri's Soul Food Shack has a pop-up in Brighton now.
In short, almost no restaurant survived , Good job! :D
The amount of effort and research to put this video together is underappreciated, seriously good job. Really enjoyed the update on these resturants.
Much appreciated!
After watching this I realized season 8 has the highest success rate, probably due to owners already know if they don't change they will fail. Kudos those that survived till today.
this is the video i need. thank you haha
You're welcome!
be like a 10 minute video covering the ones that stayed open :P
RIP Buddy from Finn McCools. One of my favorite episodes and he was my favorite owner.
Very interesting video.
