  • Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day! Today’s off to a good start since I requested an ASL interpreter for my dentist appointments for the first time ever and one arrived! She was lovely to have and the dentist appointment in general was lovely… despite the fact that I left with 3 cavities and they’re expensive to fill so I have to work on finding better insurance before I get that done.
Let’s celebrate the day today! What’s your favorite accessibility tool? Let me know in the comments!
    Video Description:
Makeupless Rikki (white woman in her early 30s) with her brown wavy hair down. She is wearing a Pink Floyd graphic tee. She is using American Sign Language (ASL) with a VoiceOver.
    Transcript:
Hello! Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day! So for the first time ever since moving to Nebraska, I went to the dentist. It was also my first time ever using an ASL interpreter. And yes, I was worried that the interpreter wasn’t going to show up, but she did. She was really nice. Everyone was really nice. And yeah, I was just laid back, looking up, but the interpreter was interpreting everything that was being said. It was a good time. Yeah. And in the future, I would definitely keep on using an interpreter, the same interpreter. So again, Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day. A long name. And let me know what your favorite accessibility tool is.

My favorite accessibility feature that I don’t see often enough is braille labels on products in the store. One of my besties is blind and taught me braille and it really should be more commonplace. 😊

For, me being deaf Blind I love InnoCaption period because I can make it as big as I need to and change the color of the text on a phone call to make it accessible for me as a blind person

Hi Rikki, I was thinking about a signing challenge, everyone signs a very common experience, like recently the soda fountain was toooo fizzzzy, and surely everyone has slightly different experiences with that, and different signing styles, so we could learn about ASL, many ways of signing about something.

I like Live Transcribe: the paid version, but a real live interpreter is the best!
