Johnny be the type of dude to start up a jet engine in his roof then sympathise with his neighbours, absolutely love it!
As a rotary engine enthusiast, I’m happy that there’s something that empties the fuel tank faster😅
hahahaha
I was thinking the same about my Focus ST225.
If a rotary could do 125000 rpm, it would chew fuel even faster than the jet.
Have a look at an F111 doing a dump and burn... Jet engine, thirsty enough.
Now add an after burner.
Now dump extra fuel overboard to create an even bigger flame out the back.
Try to compare the wankel with a liquid rocket engine.. It'll make your engine look very frugal and economical
Imagine having a neighbour who's doing something really loud, thinking something like "what are they doing running a jet engine?" only for it turn out that it's actually a jet engine
ruclips.net/video/z8bIXeM0RJ8/видео.html Your welcome :)
That's my neighbors
The Arfons brothers used to do this with F86 engines chained to trees outside their workshops on the jet powered Green Monsters. I got to see two iterations of the Green Monster. It ran at full military power at the starting line, then cut in the afterburner for a big blast thru the quarter mile when they were green lighted. Saw them at Kansas City International Raceway and St. Louis International Raceway about 1970.
i would not mind at all would love it jump the fence with my♿

Sweet! I spent a good part of my career working on small turbine technology at Williams International. Fascinating. Most of my career was in aerospace. I was a jet engine mechanic in the Navy. Amazing machines!
I need your help with a project I will be working on in the near future. Need some advice.
Definitely going to purchase this but I’d like to install this on my truck. Any advice?

Pretty amazing for a young person to just build one of these! Hats off to you.
Now to make an afterburner for it~!
That would be awesome. There aren’t many good model afterburners on RUclips. I remember a video of a good russian afterburner, but it’s just a demonstration, no build video :(
engines need to be made to be afterburnt, otherwise it's dumping fuel to make cool glowey things and less thrust. what'd be cool is getting 2 of these in a glider wing aft.
@@neutrallybiassed1330 Not true. Back when I was an undergraduate aerospace engineer my team's final year project was to design an afterburner with a TVC nozzle for a similar small jet engine (Olympus AMT). A fixed nozzle version of the afterburner was even manufactured and tested.
Any jet engine can be retrofitted with an afterburner. An afterburner does not affect the running of the engine's core upstream of it (unless the nozzle does not function as it should). You can see evidence for this in the T-S diagrams of any afterburning engines - conditions before the afterburner are unchanged regardless of afterburner engagement.

When you hear that in mid air, you know you're screwed...
It's fun to hear in FlightSim when you're a a quarter mile short of the runway with gear down and full flaps in a jet not built for gliding.
Toyota 2JZ : I idle at 850 RPM and I can do max 12,000 RPM with a little software update
Johnny's Turbine : That's cute
Be careful letting the engine run out of fuel. The engine needs to come down to idle for several minutes after running IRP to allow it to cool, sudden shutdown can cause thermal shock to the internal components. I was a jet mech in the Navy, and though our engines were exponentially larger, the basic concepts across all engine sizes remains the same. Some of my fondest memories in the Navy was during jet test after repairing an engine at sea. We'd stick the sucker on the fantail and run it through test, and there's nothing like seeing the sonic rings during full afterburner. Even with double hearing protection I'm as deaf as a doorknob, it's difficult to describe the raw power of one of these. To give a little substance, during a jet test the speed of the carrier is affected by the 26,000 lbs of thrust the F414-GE-400 can produce.
Very cool, thaks! You need to think over the cooling system. Active cooling after stopping the blades is a must!
Despite the practically in the function of that tiny make-shift jet engine I gotta say it looked awesome

So impressive. Was surprised at the RPM this turbojet operates at. Can someone tell me how many RPM the core of a full-sized aviation turbofan operates at on take-off (105% N1 or an EPR doesn't convey too much)? Also, it'd be interesting to know fan RPM, and whether it is completely inefficient for RC model builders to ever use a scaled down turbofan design?
30-60 is 70 to 85% of available power in a fan turbine

I died laughing when you said you tested it on your roof and the neighbors weren’t stoked!!!
You pretty much created a scaled down High Power Engine test cell . It resembles the one I've worked on on Aircraft Carriers. Very cool except you wouldn't use RPM in Turbo jet /jet engines they rotate too fast it's why engine performance is measured in percent I E max output would be 100 -95 percent. Very cool you must have a shit ton of money.
12kg is a measure of mass. Force is measured in Newton (N).
Ok, so, 12 kg of thrust means it would take merely 7 of them to have a functioning short-term jetpack....
Lot's of dry brush around, great and safe for testing.
Yes, yesss! That's for my paper plane!!!

I really wish I didnt get high quality headphones, these go up to 22khz and it hurts so damn bad
BiC MC you can hear up to 22khz?
Either you’re really young or have excellent ears.
Most people top out between 18-20khz.
Older people even struggle with 16khz.
Btw even the cheapest headphones normally are able to reproduce much higher frequencies, some up to 70khz.
Especially when they use balanced armature drivers instead dynamic drivers.
You’re just not able to hear them.
And the frequency graph definitely isn’t flat anymore at these high frequencies, nonetheless they can reproduce them.

@@alessiocarraro7778 And closer to a full size engine.
yup makes for more realism when building a scale plane .model ... you can have a preheater cart for the engines ... or you can have it use a built in Auxillary Power-up Unit and spool the engines like he did ... saving on your flight battery and it can be all electric to pre-heat and spin up since you can use a glow plug style heater which has the added advantage of actually being able to start the fuel when hot enough ... with a sensor for when the engine has taken over you can then switch the APU to charge and let it sit back for ride

Imagine how the realtime fuel consumption of a full size jet engine would be...
Well, it about 0,1-0,3 kg/s or if you prefer 0,8-0,24 liter/s (more ore less), but it's strictly depends ond the amount of air goes in the turbogas.
A pilot I used to know told me an F-14 tomcat burned $30,000 and hr worth of jet fuel, and that wasn't using afterburner that was just cruising!
A 747 Burns 5 tons of kerosene a hour 👌
I work on KC-135s. They are an aerial refueler. Standard rampload at my base is 75,000 pounds of fuel. 13,400 pounds in each wing tank which is where the engines are fed the fuel from. Jets didn’t land with the same amount of fuel everytime but typically after a 5 hour flight you could expect anywhere from 2-4,000 pounds in each wing tank. That can give you an idea. 4,000 pounds of fuel would be roughly 600 gallons and 13,400 pounds would be 2000 gallons so that’s 1400 gallons of fuel per tank in 5 hours.
@@dreaded_pegasus6578 good job on OpSec...
