Dude.. joining "any" branch other than cse or electrical/electronics should not be preferred if you are getting better branch in other tier 1 college...

Placements at top colleges are in 3 categories: IT Core Non core Your branch may matter as an eligibility criteria for IT placements while it doesn't matter for other categories of placements and u may very wellget an IT placement also through a non circuitbranch. So do a research, go thru quora, or read news articles, etc. to decide

If you want a nicer hostel, food and have fun, may be BITS is for you.NIT-T offers a much better education at a much lower price. Go to any large corporation, one of its directors will be an NITian. Cant say the same for BITS. NIRF 2020 ranks NITT at 9 and BITS-P at 30. Out of comparison.
Sriram , both of these colleges are great and placement are comparable and almost equal. Doesn't matter if you are in either of them because college is a platform where you get acquired skills.

And yeah one more thing is that it is only private college which gives a tough competition to iits .Even in bits there are the talks of iit Bombay/Delhi/ Madras only means how we develop to that level or even go beyond . Nits are not even in thoughts of bits . Don't forget many parts of MIT Boston curriculum is being followed here .

BITS and IIIT Hyderabad are equivalent to top 5 IITs so if you're getting any branch in these colleges you can very well ignore other options.
