- Aged White tea is a tea type which we taste regularly and finding one which meets our standards is not simple. This Sunfire Ripple aged 2011 Fuding White tea hits the spot because we exclusively blended two batches of 2011 Shou Mei to get the perfect profile.

I thought i would be the only one, who feels this kind of thrill after white tea. Every time it starts with this happy relaxed, smiling feeling, but two infusions later it turns into a drunkiness and coffein rush, but not the same as with coffein of coffee (My hands are not shaking). The last time i checked my blood pressure, but everything was fine. Heart rate at 58 - super relaxed... and i was like "wtf happens to me" xD
Two things I did righ after watching this video:
- I bought myself a cake of Sunfire Riple
- I bought some figs and made a Fig Tartar Tin

I am in love with this tea (this was also my first purchase from meileaf. Not dissapointed)
I would really love to see in the near future a Mei Leaf blend of Yue Guang Bai. Moonlight White is by far one of my favourite white teas and I think it would be a neat idea to see it pressed in a cake and blended by you.

I’ve been experimenting with aging white tea with humidity. 60-65% rh. Including sunfire ripple. I’m amazed at how much the bright copper leaves have darkened in less than a year. Taste is very similar though, perhaps slightly sweeter and more aromatic. I’m concerned the top notes may be dulling a bit. More time will tell! I don’t think sealed aging is a great idea for whites, though I would say you want very very little air exchange. I’m not sure where the notion that you want low humidity comes from, I haven’t found any good sources for this so I’m putting it to the test

The liquor of this tea has a milky note! That's the most amazing part for me.
Gongmei means another kind of tea tree, wild species. Gongmei also has different level like yinzhen, baimudan, and shoumei. It's a little weild. Fuding and Zhenghe are most famous cities in fujian to produce white tea. Yueguangbai is not a good choice to choose, but some yunnan white tea improved their quality these years, used some leaves similar to puer. Fuding has some famous white tea regions: panxi, guanyang, and tailao mountain. Glad to see so many white tea lovers.

According to the FuDing and ZhengHe tea prducers, ShouMei is a Summer pluck, while GongMei is an Autumn pluck. The look similar, but flavor and aroma profiles are quite different due to plant growth temperatures. Love you guys!

I've ordered about half a dozen times from MeiLeaf. Placed an order for sunfire ripple and some other stuff and had the fiends that are Canadian Customs "inspect my package" and rip everything open. Cut open my bamboo charcoal, opened up the gong fu story and went through every compartment. Drug swabbed all the packaging. THEN passed it through inspection and forced me to pay the taxes and inspection fees. Not happy.
Sorry that they went crazy with your package. They should not charge you any tax on tea as far as I am aware and I have no idea what right they have to charge you inspection fees at all. 🙄
Mei Leaf it’s not your fault. Seems I just won the inspection lottery. I checked the tax slips and they definitely charged me tax on the tea too, but it’s a ridiculous amount of work to go after them for that bit of taxes, not worth my time. Fortunately they didn’t damage anything except maybe some broken charcoal

tbh my favorite mei leaf tea rn :’) havent had such a wow factor w a tea since my first time trying duck shit oolong (feels like a long time ago!). will def get another cake and even debating if i should get a tong for aging because honestly this tea is such a timeless winner. also: yes!!! berry syrups!! this tea is a whole ass dessert. yes, tastes like summer BUT also like a winter holiday to me. like cabin in the woods + this cup of honey = Ultimate Peace 😌

Purchased more Sunfire Ripple, a full tong for aging. Canadian Customs ripped open the package and cut straight through and into one of the cakes. The rest seems fine but they definitely destroyed a cake. Instead of nicely opening the outer zip-loc style bag they just took a knife right through it, all the wrappers, and into the tea. Not sure what I can do about it :(
@@spiritea5640 I've ordered dozens of times and about 10% of the time Canadian customs opens the package. Even then, most of the time there is no problem, but on rare occasions, they do get reckless. Bet they feel stupid when they realize it's just tea.
@@spiritea5640 The bigger issue is customs incorrectly charging taxes. I've had to call the customs broker plenty of times to get the tax corrected but it's been better lately. *fingers crossed*

And the tea is great too. I had it twice already. Yesterday I did a session with 7grams with 100ml and brewed it really strongly. It was so good. ☺️

What is the difference between aged white teas and sheng pu'erhs?
White and PuErh are two different types of tea. White is made by controlled withering and then drying the pickings whereas PuErh is made similar to a Green tea. Both are suitable for ageing but produce very different tea.
