It's cool that despite them scaring you the persecutor still was able to teach you a lesson. It just proves persecutors aren't necessarily evil. They just deal with a lot of stuff.

This nightmare you described is so fascinating to me because I had a very similar experience when I was 12 years old. After defeating the thing that I faced my night terrors stopped and I gained the ability to lucid dream. I’ve never heard anyone else describe an experience like that until now. So cool to know of someone who went through that too.

I hope this won't sound insensitive or anything but I really really appreciate your videos; not only because it's helping me learn way more about DID than I would ever have otherwise but because I'm going through trauma processing right now in my own life and even though I don't have DID I find certain things that you say very relatable just because of general trauma. Like, the way you talk about your alters teaching you lessons, or how you embrace all of your system so that you guys can all communicate and manage the body more effectively. It wasn't until I had a mental breakdown a couple years ago that I started going to truly effective therapy and doing the work to heal, and part of it has been getting more in touch with the parts of my brain that are affected by past trauma, and embracing all of it and working with it rather than ignoring it. So I can empathize with you even though I can't fully understand truly what it's like to have DID, and I really admire your strength and perseverance, and how you inspire me to keep going forward with my own recovery.

This has been my exact journey recently. I always laughed and joked about having trauma. It wasn’t until I started listening to this channel two months ago that I made a huge breakthrough in therapy. I realized the intensity and impact of how badly I was traumatized throughout my life.
When I feel lonely in my feelings I watch Dissociadid. Their strength really encourages me to keep fighting through mine.

I understand what you mean. I’ve been through traumas too and their videos really help explain the brain. Even if it’s not only being seen by others with DID, it’s helping those of us who have had other trauma responses or have had similar experiences to theirs.

Hi. I remember being asked if I remember having did when I had an "episode" in therapy. I didn't recall it at all. Even when I was reeducated on the spot, I was my youngest, scaredest one. I was not able to absorb the teachings. It was yeah yeah yeah, I get it already.
My better half saw me at my youngest a few days ago. Lots of apologizing for the "display" he never saw, I don't think, then a lot of apologizing for things that happened that "I" was at fault for during the age old trauma. I realize it didn't make any much sense to him. But I know he knows I'm a little "crazy" like that. He loves me for who I am and how much I put into the relationship, even though my youngest, does, have her... Slips of being terrorized.
When I saw some videos of did starring you, my adult moving forward person absorbed it. Saw similarities. Was able to co with the youngest who remembered the diagnosis. So my most host understands it. That's thanks to you putting it out there. I would have been scared more, for longer.
    Thank you.

I have been a long time follower, I think I've watched every single video, I don't have DID but I feel like it's something that needs to be advocated more. The brain is an amazing machine and it was so empowering hearing from someone who deals with all these experiences from their point of view and then being able to make people more aware of just how amazing the brain works. You all are very important and I really hope life starts to fall into place with you all. ❤

i'm late, but i had a dream recently, maybe a month ago, in which there was a rather dangerous situation happening
it was me at first, but at some point i started dissociating, and there was that telltale sign of.. being drawn back from the front? i'm not really sure, but someone i'd never met before switched with me, and she took care of everything for me. she was controlling the dream's flow and got us out of the danger - and the entire time i was wondering if that was me or if i was simply just losing it in my sleep 😭😭 nevertheless at some point she woke up and laughed really hard and i just KNEW that it wasn't me at all. it was a surely interesting way of meeting someone i've never seen before, even though i'm sure that she existed before this dream even occurred. i haven't really been able to get in touch with her yet and i'm not sure of how to do that, but i know my ISH has been able to briefly get in touch with her unconscious.. or something. nevertheless.. i thought it was interesting because although i've known we could share dreams / watch each other's dreams / wake up as "someone else", the title of the video caught my attention because this is how i met a protector(?) of mine as well!

I had a thought. I know you did a video where you drew yourselves, but have you ever thought of making yourselves in the sims? Its lacking in some aspects but my best friend Koos had DID and he and his system did that, then I introduced them to mods and all hell broke loose! 😂

Thank you so much for this video. After we went through a large trauma nearly two years ago I started to have lucid nightmares (I was aware I was dreaming and could control myself, but not the rules of the dream universe) every single night. There was continuity between the dreams and people and places who kept showing up night after night with their own introjected memories in the dreams and memories that seemed like they were from my childhood but I had no memory of. I've only recently started understanding that we are a system. I am not currently in a position to get any kind of diagnosis so I am hesitant to make any definitive claims, but your videos have helped me so much.

Speaking from someone who did try to deny that I was dissociating so much, and just ignore these different voices and impulses, it has made it much much worse. My life has just got more and more dysfunctional until I finally got some help and realized that this really is going on within me. Now I get to start climbing out of that hole for myself. By acknowledging that I'm being pulled in multiple directions, and don't know what to do, and need help. Acknowledging the voices has been my first step towards really healing.

I've had a few lucid flying dreams in my late 20's. I'd have control for a bit, super cool, then almost like rewheeling down hill the control was lost, I'd get scared and wake up. My life, at the time was crazy out of control, as soon as I got control in my waking life, I lost control in my dream life. An interesting experience. Good vibes to you. Great video.

Dreams are wild! Whether you have DID or not, dreams are absolutely nuts. I don't have DID, I watch this channel for educational entertainment, but I am often able to pick up where I left off in a Dream if I wake up. This is reliant on me remembering enough information about my dream upon waking, but as long as I don't forget, I can get up to use the bathroom and go back to bed and start the same dream again, right around where it had stopped. I also often think in my sleep. This happens when I'm stressed, usually about a test or something, and I'll spend the entire night actively thinking through problems in my dream but in a way that makes no sense. So when I had my college final on Excel I had been studying for days and the night before the exam I went to bed and every thought I had was in the form of an excel formula. So I was trying to string my thoughts together with equal signs and commas and functions and outputs...it made no sense. I hate these times because I can feel my brain working, I am actively thinking, but I can't think outside of the constraints the dream puts on me. I end up waking up feeling like I haven't slept a single minute. I'm absolutely exhausted after this happens. But, it does usually pay off. I aced my Excel final and most of the other tests I've had strange dreams about.

Here's a lesson: careful what you read before bed. I have been reading The Wizard of Oz as I kept thinking bout reading the full story (it's 15 books long) however I didnt think the very tame descriptions of characters would give me night mares. Oh yes! Luckily i quickly realised and made it stop. Had to stop after the first book. Doh.

      Slime. Rancher.
The game about cute little blobs gave me more nightmares than actual horror games-
It was reoccurring for like, an entire week. Extremely vivid, so much so that looking back I can’t tell whether in one part I was actually awake or sleeping. Made me depressed for like… a month (not the disorder, just felt really sad/lethargic)

My dreams often are where my system shows itself more clearly or blatently. Usually we're in a car driving, whoever is at the front is behind the wheel. I often am in passenger seat but the moment I try taking front, I get shoved to the back behind that damned glass 😡
Sleep is usually when I switch more fully rather than just cocon. Its confusing for me since its OSDD partial switch. Im conscious and witnessing myself act like someone NOT me. This can be upsetting since the system imposes amnesia.

Psychology major here! It is to my understanding that I have been taught in my college psychology course that the function of dreaming is actually to store away memories. As your body rests your mind is very active, essentially “filing” away your short-term memories into your long-term memories for later use. If your altered states of consciousness are able to be experiencing the same dream, that would mean that they also have access to the same memories, which puts a little bit of a hole in the full amnesia you experience in between switches. Would you be able to elaborate a little bit more on this? Is it only your co-conscious alters that can share dreams?

If you need to communicate with your alters, even the ones you are not aware of, can you make a request in your mind by thought? … and will all the alters hear it? Hope that makes sense.

In your mind when you dissociate, and are not in the front anymore or just have a dream about your other alters, so do they look the same or does everyone have a different look or physique or certain type to them. Cause we only can identify them usin the way they speak and their accents. But since you have seen them in your system, you may know how they look? Or do they look the same?

Also, if someone stays up all night in the body and you front in the morning, will you be tired?

As for the second one- yes. Some alters are better about managing/ignoring exhaustion (at least for us) but if the body is suffering from exhaustion generally other alters will feel tired too just because the brain and body is tired.

    • @ZelphTheWebmancer

I imagine it being like your mind's eye show yourself as if in third person but you can't actually see what is behind you, only what you think is behind you. You can "see" your face, your expression and experience things like you are seeing yourself, but it's happening on your mind's eye, not your actual vision.

So, if you can share dreams with your alters, and dreams are images formed from your subconscious, does that mean that you and all of your alters share one subconscious? I know this is probably a difficult question to answer since no-one really knows the true nature of their subconscious, but it's hard to imagine that anyone would be capable of sharing a dream with someone else without also sharing a subconscious mind.

Interesting story if anyone has any thoughts on it...
When I was between 5 and 7 I had multiple 'birds eye' nightmares, some recurring. Here are a few.
1 (5-6): I watched a little blonde boy walk through a field to a farmhouse that seemed abandoned. He met a little blonde girl who seemed frightened for him and they heard a noise and hid in this outdoor shed. They then were chased by a man with his eyes sewn shut (it didn't even look like he had eyes in the sockets). They ended by falling down a hill together and hiding in a pile of leaves. The man stood but dawn struck and he just left. Then a girl gasped and sat upright in bed telling these people about the dream. She kind of looked like me but not exactly. Then I woke up.
2 (6): I had just laid down when I felt a falling experience like the bed was tipping backward. I fell through a chute head first and landed in a wagon upright. Someone pulled me to a familiar house - where I did experience trauma - but it didn't look the same inside or around the neighborhood. Everyone took off their faces to reveal scream-like masks and it ended with witches in a garage cooking people in a giant cauldron. While running during this dream, it felt like I was a camera in front of their face trying to scream to them but couldn't.
3 (7-9) recurring but not birds eye: my grandfather owned a funeral home I frequented. I had a little office at the end with my own typewriter where I'd write stories sometimes. In the dream, I went to my office but there was a man with red skin and long finger nails surrounded by smoke. I ran away when he called to me and saw my family tied to the dining room table, with one of my cousins hanging from the ceiling in what looked like a placenta. A man with a cowboy hat and guns instead of hands came in and I hid in the living room behind a chair. Sometimes two friends were with me, sometimes two teenage girls I found unfamiliar. One always ended up dead right in front of me.
4 (not nightmares but perplexing and I've never figured these two instances out) (4-6): I remember as a complete memory. One day my mom whispered to me to come to her and told me not to say anything that meant hot. I asked like lighter. I remember being chased around the house screaming in fear, sometimes of being thrown onto the counter, and running into the garage where my grandpa was. I opened the door and she threw a knife before I closed it again. No one remembers this but me, but I was awake and my grandpa remembers me running into the garage terrified.
Another one was when I was between those ages and had an 'imaginaru friend's. He visited me in the shower. He'd pull me through the wall and I'd fall down a tube of images - sometimes scary. He was a giant that I was teaching to read. He always gave me a bathrobe and treated me kindly. At the end, he put me back through the tube which was always terrifying and I always woke up on the bathroom floor outside of the shower. My mom always says I took excessively long showers as a kid. Maybe that's why?
My mom's paranoid schizophrenic and my dad has munchausen by proxy with depression so I'm always worried about if my mental state isn't actually right even though it's normal for me.. I went to counseling for a year - court ordered at 9 but she lost my respect and trust quickly. Again at 17, but they were too quick to drug me with no diagnosis or tests. Haven't been anywhere since... I'm 27.
Any insight or thoughts are appreciated and thank you so much for reading if you did 💓

@@cancelthis3891 For the two of 4, that sounds like a dream-like episode occurring while you were partially conscious, which could be a lot of things. I had a cousin who had a period of sleep-walking, but it sounds like it might be something more severe than that for you? (I'm not qualified to take diagnostic guesses though). You mentioned trauma. For the second instance, being naked in a shower is a vulnerable position, possibly it was triggering for you. The falling perhaps might be tied to the trauma trigger, but your brain can't process it and needs to block/repress it. Perhaps the kind giant then was a creation to soothe you and create a feeling of safety, that you weren't in danger, you were with a protector of sorts, who gave you a robe so you weren't naked; to get through the distress and block away the trauma.
Aside from that, general themes of danger to self and others, danger tied to family/familiarity, a dangerous man with obviously inhumane and/or frightening features.
Take all of that lightly though, since I'm not a therapist or trained in this. I would encourage looking for a therapist, though I get having those shitty previous experiences would make it seem unappealing (and it is also just hard to find a good therapist with the skills you need). But to start out you might try out just shopping for one, look for what their specialties are and maybe just think through what kind of therapist might be useful to you. Ex, it sounds like you might want one who is trained in diagnosis. And then if you do try one out, think of the first few sessions as a trial run, and you can absolutely discontinue if the therapist seems like a dud or problematic.

It's nice to get some thoughtful outside perspective. Two of said counselors really just brushed this stuff off as childhood imagination and never even tried to dive deeper so it was a passing mention in therapy after that.
Sometimes it's the random people who are the most kind and insightful. You are definitely one of those. I sincerely appreciate your time reading through everything and actually thinking through your reply. I respect the fact that you also pointed out several times that you aren't a therapist or anything of that nature.
