Good on ya- I watched your video and immediately replaced both of mine in less than 15 minutes. I recommend wearing safety glasses for all work, and disposable gloves because by the time they need replacing they're FILTHY. Your hood prop rods worked nicely but I felt better with a human helper using both hands to ensure I didn't get slammed under the hood. Best wishes to all.
Yeah I would have preferred a person helping...full disclosure I actually tried it before making the video and also tested if it seemed to be staying up so I had a bit of confidence and knew what to expect before starting the camera. A safety observer never hurts though!
Nice, i have a 2012 legacy 2.5i and i followed your instructions to fixed both struts. Thank you and hopefully you post more of the solutions about your cars👍🏾
Knock on wood I haven't had many problems to solve. Another great source for info is the forums at www.subaruoutback.org which has helped me with a number of things from a leaky 3rd brake light to installing a trailer hitch. Glad you got your issue fixed!
@@Gatester95 sorry just saw this. I went thru the Subaru dealership parts department to get the right one. Even if you decide to wait they can look up the OEM part number and give it to you based on your make model and trim level.
I think so (different part number probably though)...mine isn't holding the hatch quite all the way up by an inch or two but I haven't yet got around to ordering replacements. When I did the hood I examined the new ones closely before attempting to remove the old ones to better understand what I needed to look for. If I get to doing the rear I will try and remember to do another video.

Thanks so much for the demo! So easy and so inexpensive. Can't imagine what the dealer would charge to replace this!
Hi, I followed your instructions step by step, took me 5 min, passenger side only ! Thanks !
Thanks. Very well demonstrated.

Matthew Miller will do thank you so much
Happy to report still going strong...driver side one never has failed yet...
Could you post a link to the strut you ordered? I can't seem to find one that works without having to buy extra hardware.

Wonder if the rear hatch has similar struts? Mine needs replacing. Hopefully it’s this easy.
