I tell my beginner microloc clients to stay away from steaming because it can losen up the locs but so many of them end up having dry locs. Now that I think about it as long as I am braiding and banding during their shampoo, steaming them should be fine. Is this true? Also does steam when you have locs require you do to use a conditioning agent or the steam alone is helpful and gets the job done?

Would the shower be doing the same thing if I took my shower cap off and just sat there in the steam from the shower ?
