I look forward to watching all your videos and sharing them. Especially now the times were living in, God bless America and keep our 2nd. Amendment Right as is. Hi. 1)so for the 1st round, you HAVE to pull back slide back in-order to feed the 1st bullet into the chamber? Then how does the 2nd round from the mag, get fed to into the chamber? 2)Also are there pistols that can fire more than 1 type of caliber of bullet? for example shoot both .22 & 9mm? Say the chamber made 9mm, but you put in .22. Would it shoot & if so would it affect the projectile of the bullet, i.e Velocity & accuracy? 3)why is the bullet weight referred to in GRAINS? Why don't they just use GRAMS? Cheers
You are a phenomenal teacher! I've shot guns on a couple of occasions and worry about the same things as your wife. I decided it was time to stop being scared by self induced ignorance and become empowered with knowledge. I'm looking forward to learning more and appreciate your time and effort to put such a great guide together! ~Meredith
I also decided to stop being scare of firearms and shooting in particular. Tomorrow I will have a one on one class to educate myself. This video has helped a lot!
I have shot guns when I was younger, but never loaded them, or dealt with the mechanics of one. My late husband taught me a few things, always keep the gun pointed in the air, never point it at anyone for any reason, always treat it like it's loaded, keep it on an empty chamber, and to always treat it like there was one in the chamber.. The rest I know nothing about so when I didn't even know how to put the bullets in it, as the instructions don't tell you, I realized that I knew nothing about what I was doing, and would need further assistance in learning before I did Anything else! As you said it's a deadly tool, and I am the one responsible for knowing how to use it appropriately! Thank you! I at least I know a little bit more than I did. I wish more videos were for people that didn't know anything about them at all! Like a series of them so you could move up each time. A class is always good but what if you forget some of the stuff. So much to learn in such a short time. I intend on getting my CCL and will inquire there about training. I mostly got a 22 because they're fun to shoot and their bullets are cheap enough I can afford to target practice a little bit. Thank You for taking the time to educate us Les savy people
@@julicobb1680 I'm going to learn how to shoot too, I also shot a gun as a kid but that was a long time ago and I barely remember anything except don't pull the trigger unless you're ready to shoot! Wonderful and fabulous video for a housewife like me that just bought a gun. So helpful. Gun terminology is a foreign language to me. You’re a great teacher!
My husband carries (permitted) wherever he can and I want absolutely nothing to do with guns and am scared of them. More and more though, I have wanted to get to the point where I know how to handle one without being afraid. This video was so helpful!!! I know nothing about guns and bullets, etc. and the fact that you even explained the parts of a bullet... What a great video. Thank you!!!
Really appreciate this video as a new gun owner. Also appreciate how there was no BS like heavy metal guitar music. Just a serious, earnest instructional video that is not at all patronizing. Thanks.
Fantastic! I learn a ton. I took the Conceal and carry but never even touched a gun until that day. I had many questions of caliber, loading and many more and you were just on point. Thank you.
Thank you for posting this. It was extremely informative. My dad passed recently, and I will be inheriting a very nice pistol from him: a limited edition Springfield Armory V10, .45 cal. Dad was a coach for many years of a junior pistol team that went annually to the Camp Perry National Championships in Ohio. While I have been in the presence of guns my whole life, and know to never point at a person, and such, I've still never handled a firearm. So, the explanation you gave of the magazines and cartridges and everything was a big help. I have family and friends that will be able to help me, but this did put my mind at ease a bit more about the safe handling of the gun. Thanks again!
One of the most comprehensive overviews I’ve had the chance to watch and absorb crucial information before getting into firearms on a high level. Thanks
The more open-minded you are about Firearms rather than what is told to you in the media and in Hollywood, the less you'll hate guns. Guns are not only used by the bad guys. Plenty of good people own and use Firearms too. Serious firearm owners understand the type of responsibility that comes with owning firearms and safety with handling them and being around them is paramount.
I'm also scared of firearms and have literally never even seen one held, let alone come near enough to hold one myself, but it is videos like this that help demystify and help me to understand, and therefore fear less. You talk about it in a calm, rational manner and go over everything nice and slowly, and this has already helped me feel slightly less nervous about it all. Thank you so much for this.
@@gunsaccessories8853 Same! My parents never owned guns so I was always afraid of them. While the rest of my family all owned guns and love recreational shooting. They encourage me to have one for safety. I had a boyfriend get upset that I was so afraid of being around his gun. He didn't understand my lack of knowledge and experience. I think for people like that, we need understanding and patient teachers.
Just found your channel and your videos are so thorough and well filmed. As a 67 year old woman looking to get my first gun your redundancy is a comfort. I've had too many men go through the motions with me so fast that I get intimidated. Things long time gun owners take for granted is a learning curve for me.
I am a 1st generation immigrant (LEGALLY) from South Africa, now living in California. I have been in the US for 3 years and I am now considering getting a firearm for home protection. I have seen first hand in my country what happens when citizens are stripped of their right to bear arms. I want to support the NRA and the 2nd amendment in this great country that allows individuals to protect themselves. This video was amazing. I appreciate the emphasis put on safety. I am trying to get asuch good information online and educate myself before even going for all the tests and background checks and making a decision on a firearm. I am excited to get into this but at the same time I am also disappointed at how I feel California has butchered the 2nd amendment because of fear and lack of knowledge. I feel like people out here dont bother to educate themselves and instead prefer to give in to the mock outrage from mainstream media
Best ever gun video. No unintelligible jargons and catch-words, pure and plain ENGLISH. Excellent. Truly informative. Best aspect is the functionally strong emphasis on safety.
Great for starters.I think the loud noise bothers most beginners, when I have my ears on the boom, that scares people is gone.My wife started with a co2 bb gun. When she fired my .45 she flinched,a common problem, easily fixed,as it has much to do with loud report.VERY GOOD VIDEO,BEGINNERS ARE NOT STUPID,I LIKE THAT YOU TREAT US WITH RESPECT.I WAS A PATROLMAN,I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU TO NEW PEOPLE..NOTHING IS A BAD QUESTION,WHEN YOU ARE NEW TO FIREARMS.ITS TOO IMPORTANT FOR ALL OF US.THANKS FOR SIMPLICITY,I HAVE TOLD BEGINNERS YOU ARE THE VIDEO TO START WITH.
I've shot rifles but never handguns. Heading to the range later to fire some handguns and this has been a great way to walk in without being completely clueless as to their operation and handling. Thank you, Sir!
This was just what I needed. I am a woman and I bought a firearm for protection I was given the name of someone who provided classes. I talked with him by phone and told him I was totally inexperienced he brought me in for a class where everyone else was there for a concealed carry and he became irritated with me because I knew nothing about my firearm. I am attending class this weekend which I think will be be what I want. I feel so much better after watching your video. Thank you.!!!!!!
Thanks for this video. The words "absolute Beginners" got my attention. That was exactly what I was looking for. A few weeks ago I decided (at the age of 69) that I wanted to learn about handguns. I'll follow your advice about getting personal help. I'm committed to not owning it, if I can't learn to use it safely. Thanks again.
OK I'm going to level with every one I am from England and owning a fire-arm here is super hard (At lease from what I know) but I have always been interested in guns and this is one of the best video's I've seen thus far with all the safety advice and all some of it i have not herd from other video's so awesome job man thanks.
Thanks for such an excellent tutorial for beginners. I did have a handgun years ago but, never really had any safety training. Most well explained video I have seen . Thank You.
Thank you for being very detailed and specific about a lot of these! As someone who has a lot of trouble understanding descriptions, this really laid down the ideas, again I thank you so much!
The explanation is so superb that my couple months of trial just to understand the caliber measurement hit way better in expanding knowledge. Thanks man for the demonstration.
Wow. I’m a brand new 1st time gun owner. This video had been sooo informative. I learned so much in a few minutes. I bought a Ruger LCP II and I love it. I had no idea what caliber meant or the difference between different bullets. Thanks so much
i agree with a lot of the comments here - you're a great teacher! i like how you take things slow and don't use words we don't understand yet. learning about ammo and firearms is like learning a new language sometimes
Very well done! I appreciate the way you go forward the entire time. So many people who post videos make it hard to remember things because they interrupt themselves and add things in or go on a bird walk that breaks the flow of information. Nice job!
Your channel should be way more popular. Your videos are so great but RUclips is over saturated with this content. I've been getting into silencers and good honest reviews in this high quality format are rare. Maybe you could document yourself navigating the silencer process and then honest reviews on this growing accessory. Just a thought on how to get you the views you deserve. Keep up the great work!
+surp33 I really appreciate you saying that. That is a good idea. I have been thinking about going down that route recently. And also with the way things are going those type of items may be off the table soon. Thanks for watching!
Excellent lesson. Very thorough and hyper detailed. Exactly what a beginner needs to hear. Only a single point to add, and that’s to mention to the student that more accidents happen with handguns than any other firearm due to the short nature of the device. It’s very easy for beginners to become absent minded, or distracted and forget to point the firearm down the range, or in a safe direction, ALL THE TIME. So a point to be very aware of when handling such a weapon. Assault rifles may look scarier but they are much safer to handle than handguns due to the increased length giving more visual awareness of where the barrel is pointing. (Beginners on the range can become excited and high on adrenaline, and if called a student may sometimes rotate towards the person requiring their attention and swing their pistol around with them absentmindedly…..)
Thank you for this video. I survived domestic violence and have been contemplating on getting licensed. Your video gave me a better understanding before entering this world!!
Thank you so much for this video. My step dad has pushed me to get a gun for self protection. I just bought one today and want to learn and practice enough to feel comfortable to carry it on myself.
Thank you for emphasizing the finger on the trigger issue. Not enough people in the firearm community talk about this in my opinion. I'm an FFL holder and experienced shooter. I watched this video to potentially show to my non-gun friends. I want to commend you for your emphasis on safety above all else.
Thank you for your video....I have one pistol from 20 years ago and my fiance is scared of it...only because she doesnt know how to use it. This video will make her happy that you are showing her the same things that I have been talking about.....ejct the clip and pull slide 2 or even 3 times to make sure its empty. And I went over the same thing of if its empty and youput a clip in, its ready to fire. ....and did the same thing dropped the clip and pulled back the slide and showed there was a round in it. Great job on your video.
Thanks for this very informative video !!!!! I have only fired a real pistol once in my life at a Turkey Shoot (25 years ago). I am glad to hear you stress the safety issues, because mis-use can destroy your life
This is so helpful! My husband has been a hunter 45 years and I didn’t grow up around guns so being w him the last 9 years I’ve been around them more but still pretty uncomfortable touching them myself. Finally decided to join a women’s shooting club and start watching videos so that I can at least be more familiar and have more peace in my heart about not making a mistake with one. I appreciate you taking the time to go slow and demonstrate each term and function. May lots of folks be blessed just like me with your efforts. ❤
great video, im new, no fire arm currently, and looking into a carry. loading and unloading was a bit confusing to me, and this helped immensely. thank you.
this is the first video i have watched that talked about the bullets and caliber and i truly believe i've watched quite a few now in my new studies to learn how to be a proper gun owner. thanks for the basics!
I just started looking at purchasing a handgun for home security. I am a beginner and this video was very helpful learning the basics. I need way more instructional help so I'm looking forward to other videos you have on this. You definitely have a knack for instructing.
I’m not new to guns, but I will say this man did a phenomenal job, especially with a lot of big confusing words that he replaced with easier ones to understand for beginners! But I will say that in tandem to this video, there are videos of 3D computer models that go over every detail of firearms, the parts and what goes on inside, and the difference between semi automatic and fully automatic firearms, I highly recommend even experienced shooters check them out, never stop learning ya know?
Thank you for all your knowledge. I'm a single mom and I just purchased a taurus 22 today. I've never even seen a gun in person and was extremely overwhelmed and emotional at the thought of even buying a gun but I think every woman should have some kind of protection. I can't wait to go to the range so I won't be so scared because right now I'm terrified just having it in my home
You should be a gun safety instructor!!! You are very gifted & educated! Your childhood was im assuming a blessing & you shoulf TEACH! I would personally take your class if you ever had or have one!!!🙌 the information you gave was literally what beginners need to know without a doubt!
thank you so much for this! My parents refuse to teach me anything about guns ( theyre the people that are afraid of them) but this has helped me a lot! You're the best! :D
LOL those are mostly my sisters as this is a shared account, but I can confirm that a lot of them are a bit strange! (our music taste is off the walls) cheers!
As A 22 year Firearm Instructor, I want to commend you on this type of video! :) Each Class of Students has it's unique set of needs and what they need to learn, be cognisant of that. As MS Catthebeatyhunter commented, there are more and more Women taking Firearm Courses. I asked them why....most answered that they are scared (Government, protesters, preditors) and need to protect themselves. Lastly, find out what they can shoot proficiently...5 shot in center mass in a panic situation. THAT is what counts. NOT caliber. Rock On !!! Shoot straight!!!!!
Technically, it does remain [as it doesn't travel down the barrel, as seen in some anti-gun vids] UNTIL it is removed/ejected. Granted, that is a millisecond in autos, but much longer in a wheel gun or side by side shotgun, where it remains until you, the operator, removes it. Sure, it could have used a few seconds/words for clarity, but its not incorrect.
Very helpful I'm very thankful that you made this video. There are no classes going on now because of the virus. I tried to get classes before we went to stay at home but they were limited 10 people in the store so they didn't do classes because they couldn't get any other customers and if it's only 10 people so I'm grateful for people putting videos up. So that I can get some basic knowledge. I will watch this several times because I truly learned a lot thank you.
I'm new ish to handguns and the number one thing I've come to realize is that guns are tools. A tool on its own is not dangerous. Gun saftey is a big thing for me. I appreciate these types of videos.
Thank you for publishing this video! I just recently bought my first pistol (GLOCK 19) and have no shooters in my family (or know anyone personally), so I went in completely clueless. This was very helpful and informational.
Ruby Martinez you made a wise choice with the glock 19. Very good reliable firearm. 9mm is a very good standard round and will never leave you wishing for more. Can't say enough about glocks. I wish you well and happy shooting.
The husband and I just took our gun safety class yesterday and fired our first live rounds in class it was very eye opening and admittedly FUN!! I’m now going to get us signed up for more classes and we will be going to a range where you can rent guns while waiting for our licenses. Your video was wonderful, we learned some of this stuff in class but you filled in the blanks (so to speak….😉). 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you brother, this is a great video. I'm brand new to guns so I didn't have really any knowledge bout any of this UNTIL NOW. So thank you it's truly appreciated 👍
Excellent tutorial! I haven't handled a pistol for over 25 years. I decided to get one but thought of checking a 101 tutorial as an absolute beginner. Found you. Thanks for an A+ tutorial/demo. You got yourself a sub! I will 'study' this vid before I actually move on and looking forward to learning more from you.
Fit in the hand is the first consideration. Second, if you are hear, you visit you tube. Enter the name of the gun you are researching (like glock) then add "problems" and read what others have posted about the problems they have had with that pistol.
Great video. Very informative and useful. But if I may express my opinion; since the video is designed for beginners, I think you should have mentioned the most important gun-safety rules. 1. Treat every weapon as if it is loaded. 2. Never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot. 3. Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until ready to fire. (mentioned) 4. Keep the safe lock until ready to fire. Beginners need to know these essentials. Other than that, great work in this video!
Airline pilots training for the next level go back to very basic instruction. It rarely hurts to go over, "This is a gun, it will do anything you tell it to, be very careful with it", then an Olympic marksman listens to the basic instruction, just in case the y need reminding of some long forgotten detail. Never assume someone knows something, just because they say they do. you made that point very clear in your presentation, thank you.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. I realize this video is aimed at absolute novices, but just to share something myself, calibre actually refers to what the gun itself is chambered in. I understand it’s a nit pick but I thought I would just mention it in case someone cares.
I’ve been carrying for 26 years and I’ve fired many different firearms and various calibers and personally I think the Taurus TX might be the best beginners gun. I’m very experienced and have owned many guns and it might be one of my top 3 favorite handguns to shoot for target practice.
OMg, Thank you for this video. I shot m-16's in the Army and Air Force and to this day I never visualized what the picture was to clear your fire arm by looking down the barrel site until you should 'what it looks like to see a bullet in the barrell. " My daughter wants to shoot a gun and I will take all you said to heart and pass it on. You are a very good teacher. Thank you.
When I was an "absolute beginner" 3 years ago, the Phoenix Arms HP 22 A was the best learning tool and I still think it is. Not because it's only $120 but because it will help you learn about actions, blowback/floating, most of all safeties, takedown/maintenance, as well as help you identify preferences for weight, bore axis, tail, trigger weight, snag points, sites etc.
Great thorough video, you do a great job of explaining these basics that every gun user should know. I saved this in my video bank. Again an A+ is my grade for you, thanks.
I know all this stuff but I had to watch the whole video. You give a brief education in handling a weapon. I’m definitely going to share this video and I have a thumbs up. This is excellent.
Man this is a great video. I'm a newbie. Just completed my CCW permit class and will be getting lessons as I know NOTHING about guns. But I am arming myself with knowledge and training before I just go carrying a gun. Great job on this video so informative! New subbie!
This was good, pretty much perfect for beginners. But never make someone ride the slide. It is not good for the gun, they are made to receive some force when loading the next round, so just let it slide.
THANKS A TON FOR THE HANDGUN 101!!!! I don't even know what in the world caliber means before HAHAHA but thanks to ur teaching i know even more now!! It is awesome to know the physics behind firearms and how it works.
Thank you! I am a new gun owner and I’ve had private instruction on handling, safety, and firing at a gun range, but no 101 (I have a pistol). I want to learn as much as I can to become a responsible gun owner.

this is the best video ever.. how come I can't find any video who gets into detail like this guy. Jesus he needs to make more videos.

You talk about it in a calm, rational manner and go over everything nice and slowly, and this has already helped me feel slightly less nervous about it all. Thank you so much for this.
Thank you!
Welcome home
Thank you for this video. You go at a pace I can keep up with and understand. (never used a handgun yet)!
As a small girl who wants to be able to protect herself I appreciate this man!
Thanks for watching!
surp33 suppressor* not silencer
This was sooo helpful! I like how you went over the terminology.
Myself and 10 family members are going to the range this week , all novices . I’m definitely sharing this knowledge, thanks.
Great job on your video.
man that "round in the chamber part" really made me feel more comfortable. Thank you!

Thanks for this very informative video !!!!! I have only fired a real pistol once in my life at a Turkey Shoot (25 years ago). I am glad to hear you stress the safety issues, because mis-use can destroy your life
Really informative video! Love how clear and concise you are when explaining everything.
Can you do a video demonstrating how to use a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range, please.
He only has what you see here buddy!
Should ask him about the Uzi Nein Millimeeduh ;)
Hey just what you see pal
Love my 45 long shliyde wid layyzer siding
shane moon *WRONG*
Basic gun enthusiest here - I shot firearms when I was much younger. Needed a refresher - this is a really good video!!!
Thanks! Just what I was looking for. I am an "absolute" beginner and you answered all my questions.
As a beginner, I’m lucky and really grateful to come across your video. Thank you sir
great video, im new, no fire arm currently, and looking into a carry. loading and unloading was a bit confusing to me, and this helped immensely. thank you.
this is the first video i have watched that talked about the bullets and caliber and i truly believe i've watched quite a few now in my new studies to learn how to be a proper gun owner. thanks for the basics!
Great instructional video. Teaching is definitely your gifting.
+God, Guns & Gears Thank you sir. Have a good weekend.
Absolutely you have a knack for teaching. Thank you sir.
Facts
I just started looking at purchasing a handgun for home security. I am a beginner and this video was very helpful learning the basics. I need way more instructional help so I'm looking forward to other videos you have on this. You definitely have a knack for instructing.
As a new gun owner,.and knowing very little, I appreciate this video. Thank you!
You made a wise decision. Just be educated, try to be confident.
My God you have weird playlists
Correction: After the gun is fired, the spent casing does not stay in the gun unless you're shooting a revolver. The casing is ejected.
klstrat996 , yeah. Bothered me when he said that.
Facts... I have a burn scar on my breast from where a hot one landed. They are surely ejected lol
Sure, it could have used a few seconds/words for clarity, but its not incorrect.
a short description on how to use the safety would have been a great 2 minute addition to the video!
This video is great. Yesterday, I bought my first gun... I learned a lot with this video. Thank you👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
brendathebusybee So jelly, lol. How’s your gun?
brendathebusybee I bought my first one today I’m still a lil nervous were you the same way
Telisha Cull I’m genuinely curious. Why did you buy your gun?
its 2019 did you shoot someone yet ???
Fucking Americans with there guns..
I'm new ish to handguns and the number one thing I've come to realize is that guns are tools. A tool on its own is not dangerous. Gun saftey is a big thing for me. I appreciate these types of videos.
Thank you for breaking things down into understandable pieces! Loved this video!
Watching this for zombie apocalypse
Same 😂
The husband and I just took our gun safety class yesterday and fired our first live rounds in class it was very eye opening and admittedly FUN!! I’m now going to get us signed up for more classes and we will be going to a range where you can rent guns while waiting for our licenses. Your video was wonderful, we learned some of this stuff in class but you filled in the blanks (so to speak….😉). 👍🏻👍🏻
couldn't emphasize or instruct anything better thanks
Thank you brother, this is a great video. I'm brand new to guns so I didn't have really any knowledge bout any of this UNTIL NOW. So thank you it's truly appreciated 👍
great video man, glad you got into magazines vs clips. Hopefully a lot of people watch this.
How is your comment related to what he's presenting?
Excellent presentation. Direct to the point, clear and precise, and the terms used are easy to understand and diction and delivery is very clear
(mentioned)
I would like to Thank you, for making this video. It was very informative. This video was also very helpful to me as well. Thanks.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. I realize this video is aimed at absolute novices, but just to share something myself, calibre actually refers to what the gun itself is chambered in. I understand it’s a nit pick but I thought I would just mention it in case someone cares.
Omg finally!! Awesome awesome awesome this is the exact video I've been looking for thanks man! This video helped a lot
I’ve been carrying for 26 years and I’ve fired many different firearms and various calibers and personally I think the Taurus TX might be the best beginners gun. I’m very experienced and have owned many guns and it might be one of my top 3 favorite handguns to shoot for target practice.
Thank you so much for these🙏🏼🌈Im pretty new and thought it best to learn via RUclips while I can’t be helped by someone in person.
Thank you.
ty for the vid I learned so much. loveee guns but am a total noob. thanks again, subbed.
Thank you!
I like how he avoids saying kill for that ad revenue😂
Man this is a great video. I'm a newbie. Just completed my CCW permit class and will be getting lessons as I know NOTHING about guns. But I am arming myself with knowledge and training before I just go carrying a gun. Great job on this video so informative! New subbie!
This was good, pretty much perfect for beginners.
But never make someone ride the slide. It is not good for the gun, they are made to receive some force when loading the next round, so just let it slide.
Thanks for the video. Been wanting to buy some guns and learn to shoot and just absolutely embarrassed with how little I know
Amazing video thank you very much I really learned alot just from watching your video 👍
Excellent tutorials for beginners especially on safety. Really appreciate it
Terrific video! Everyone contemplating firearms ownership and carry should watch your video!
Wow thanks so much man. I’m looking to get into fire arms and you made it seem so simple by the way you explained things thank you.
Instructions unclear, I accidentally shot my foot with a Desert Eagle
Lol
Andratos95 ... Maybe for some people to learn is to shoot them self first .......Lol
