Katana Zero rooftop scene

- Probably one of the best scenes in the game. Kinda surprised that no one has uploaded it yet
Audio might be a bit quiet and video quality might be a little compressed(ish), so sorry if it is
If there's any problems with like copyright or anything, just contact me by PM or whatever you like
This scene carries a lot of weight; it contributes to the story and develops characters without the need for any exposition or filler content with a big reveal. It's also the first time we see the protagonist speak independently without a user input.
This is the only scene in any video game I've played that had an empathetic tone conveyed so directly through text it made me hurt a little bit.
Even though the material can deceive, the relationships we forge are real.
There are dialogue choices in other scenes where Zero will disobey the character. We might want to choose his nature, but we can't.
My poor baby Zero.He just wanted to be a hero for someone.
A katana hero
"You can't see all the muck and trash up here. Just the lights. It's pretty."
i love this game so much
Ikr! suuper excited for the dlc!!
The OST for this game is phenomenal. The music in this scene is one of the reasons it's so awesome and beautiful.
Couldn't agree more!
OKTOBERFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEST
This scene is very important as it show the growth of Zero.
Zero is a hired killer, but deep down we know he still has something good. However, there is nothing to prove that he is a good man. So Zero has to cling to the medal, a reminder of the good part in him. He even killed the homeless man to protect that medal, a brutal action proved that his good part is just nominal. And sarcastically, he earned that medal by burned many villages.
However, the little girl changed Zero. She replaced the medal and became his new reminder. All the good things inside him wasn't just vanity but the caring actions he gave for that girl. The little girl's happiness is the proof that Zero still has good parts in him, not the shiny medal.
Hence, the medal is now a worthless object and Zero threw it away.
That was really beautiful to read. Thanks for this comment.
It's even better (or sad, however you wanna see it) when you realize that Zero actually believes he did something good in the war which is why he holds on to the medal. Or at least, that's what his amnesiac mind tells him to fill in the blanks. Only us, the players, know the horrible truth behind that medal and his actions. But in a twist of fate, he finally has another reason to hold on and feel proud. Something even more meaningful and worth protecting than a piece of metal.
The smile of a little girl.
@@LaGuaridadeChaz The government gave him that medal and told him false stories about what he did and how he lost his memories. They made his handler his psychiatrist and kept giving him assassination missions and Chronos.
He starts seeing the little girl when they reduce his dosage, and she is the subtlest of his hallucinatons so he thinks she's real. He starts seeing the masked men when his withdrawal gets worse. The game's ending strongly implies that the little girl never existed, meaning that when Zero threw away his medal he was replacing one fake symbol with another.
@@brettzforeman, well, we can say that the girl is his "human" part, so technically it's not a fake symbol. He chosed between his life and his "humanity" (the only think he want/care about).
“As long as we remember a person, they're not really gone. Their thoughts, their feelings, their memories, they become a part of us.”, even if is an imaginary girl it "exist" 🤔🤔
Or at least that's my opinion haha, even if the girl isn't real for the other people, for him it is, all his emotions and human things are that girl.
I blew an entire weekend after I finished playing this gem. Just trying to find a good ending so I didn't break my promise to her.
Haha nice! The first time I played, I ended up getting the ending at Chinatown/the Golden ending.
I swear if the game get continue. I need to SAVE THE LITTLE GIRL.
I love that *this* is the scene where Zero speaks entirely out of your control. The one moment where he has development and lets his guard down to someone he trusts.
It’s so..... oddly cathartic after all the moments where you’ve spoken for him or the Chronos withdrawal screwing with your decisions.
I like how they use the sound effect to convey the characters voices, you can imagine their voices without them having any in the game
Doesn't he also talk in the cathedral hallucination? The one where he talks about fighting in the war and how eventually he'll be "back in that jungle, fighting forever."
@@nickelakon5369 That ones more ambiguous, it could be Zero, but it very easily be some other NULL who took part in the war (Headhunter, Fifteen, etc) talking to Zero (especially given the Cathedral scene ends with the individual requesting something to whoever they're talking to).
@@jtlego1 The information being revealed about Chronos withdrawal suggests pretty strongly that the speaker is requesting death. I think the church is a near-future memory of what Zero did after this interaction with Fifteen. The way I interpret it, he's seeking solace in a beautiful church but his withdrawal is looping his walk indefinitely. Basically, Fifteen is gone and he's alone in the world now, with nobody to do him the same kindness.
"... I have other reminders now."
SOBS INTO MY HANDS
T_T
I know especially after the end of the story…
"It reminds me that no matter what I'm doing, I did something good once"
Carries a lot more weight when you see what that "good thing" was
"You're bad guy
But that does not mean youre bad guy"

@@JAndre-gb3dm Maybe "Anti-hero"?
@@JAndre-gb3dm yeah, Zero is kinda like an anti hero. Specifically, he is the "Unscrupulous Hero" (one of 5 types of anti-hero), which is willing to kill anyone to achieve their goal. But still, we can see something good in him.
You can also see that Zero has similarities with John Wick (John Wick) or Cha Tae Sik (The man from nowhere).
Neighbor Girl is so precious.
It's a good thing I chose to die for her first. When I got to this part, I was FeelsGoodMan, but then I got to the end and I was FeelsShitMan
I honestly don't think I've ever experienced a scene this beautiful not just in gaming, but in any media I've ever seen before. I really hope Akiisoft goes on to be as big as they deserve to be
Ikr, everything about this game is great
@@RoninRei90 aye! Hello brother, any news on the DLC?
@@cellP8 honestly, not quite sure myself, but the from what I've heard, it's supposed to release later this year or sometime early 2022. You can also check out the Katana zero and Akiisoft twitter, usually the Akiisoft one has little snips n stuff of the dlc stuff they're working on

What a great Scene. when they reveal the whole city and the sound of the fresh wind in the night. The thought of all these people trying to live and survive in this war torn society. I too wonder whats beyond the mountains. This game is a masterpiece.
The piano sound just literally touched my heart T.T
fr, the OST be cherry on top :P
*"I'm sorry little one."*
Beautiful scene, but that ending really gets me.
Spoiler(idk why you would watch these scene without having played the game but still):
I know there is the part that she may not be real and so on,but if something happens to the child i will be really upset.I really like how snarky she is but turns into that little kid you just love and want to protect.I believe that she's real and that tragedy and comedy? idr the other name just did some mumbo jumbo to make that she "doesn't exist".
Same, we'll just have to see when the free dlc comes out ^^
@@RoninRei90 yeah, i'm super stoked for it. I really hope it comes out this year but i don't believe it. One of my favorite Indies.
@@karurosu4121 well we got the speedrun at least for now :p
I think the publishers mentioned that she is real and in fact your choices did affect her. They also conviniently mentioned there WILL be a sequel. Take that how you will 🥺😭 I just hope we don't play as a broken her...
"i have other reminders now..."
Sound the fuccin feels alarm!!!
PROTECC AT ALL COST!!!
my heart couldnt handle this scene, so much powerful emotions, yet everything flows with a certain serenity and an awesome soundtrack
Katana zero is a 10/10
This scene. This scene and the cathedral scene. No words.
Must protect any cost.
Panoramic Feelings is the best way to describe this scene without spoilering the plot of KZ. With that name and arrangement, LudoWic made something, that will make tears drop and men cry, even w/o knowing the context behind. Also, that word "Panoramic" is good choice in particular. When we see this scene in one screenshot without dialogue, it shows us a beatiful night city with it's full neon-ey colors and blue clody sky. When we know, how Zero FEELS right now, we now know him better, we know him, as if we looked at a PANORAMIC photo of his personality.
Edt: nice "Read More" mark, YT, really prevents all spoilers (no jk).
Like @dugan goether said "this is the only time zero speaks without the players input" and i think that's BRILLIANT as zero is trully being free in that moment, not receiving orders nor following directives, and acting all for himself trying to be a real hero for once
I love how the music swells perfectly in tune with the conversation
This scene and the cathedral one gave me so much chills and moved me, I can't believe I didn't find this game sooner
This shit made seeing what Zero did in the war devastating.
I was sold on this game since the first trailer. The rooftop scene solidified it for me as one if the best indies ever.
Watching zero talk felt surreal
After nearly an entire game of choosing what he says........ its oddly cathartic to hear him speak without any input on the player's part. It really goes to show how relaxed he is when around the Girl's influence.
@@jtlego1 Well you don't need to watch what you say around someone who knows what you're thinking, right? Zero probably didn't actually say a single thing in this scene.
Yes!! I was looking for this!
People who upload exactly what you're looking for, you have a special place in heaven
Beautiful scene btw, it was one of the few times I cried in a videogame, thank you for uploading it!
Yeah, I was surprised when I saw no uploads of this scene. Also same, I did cry at this scene too :p
I am the only one who finds this scene somewhat emotional and sad, I say here Zero promises the girl that they will escape together from the city even though it costs Zero his life and practically Zero promised the girl to protect her even and in the ending where Zero lives she is kidnapped by the masks and she in the later scenes where she is being watched is maybe crying because he friend broke his promise
that's basically how I got the golden ending first; I didn't want anything bad to happen to the girl
Well, he promised that no one will do anything to her. She is kidnapped, put they haven't done nothing to her yet, so he keeps that promise, who knows if Zero will be able to fight them.
that scene really gave me emotions 😢
-I don't want men is masks come again.
-I won't let anyone hurt you.
-You promise?
-...okay
*she gets killed because of them*
Me: eternal screech and cri
I swear if she turns out to be not real Imma lose it.
same...

You're gonna laugh
my favorite scene in the game
This makes me cry every time
For me, the hardest-hitting scene in the game is this:
On not-your-first-playthrough, you reach the night before Judgment (the last day of the game's main plot). Our protagonist, an amnesiac war veteran who has committed horrible war crimes as a child, comes home from work and decides to go up on a roof and see a great view of the city. He imagines a moving conversation with an innocent kid, who he promises he'll protect.
Noting how dirty the medal is, our protagonist explains to nobody that he hasn't taken it off in seven years because it's a reminder that he did something good in the past. The man throws his medal off of the roof and explains, again to nobody, that he has other reminders now.
When you rewatch Zero's scenes with the girl and remember that he is by himself, the reasoning is incredibly sad and moving. Zero notices how filthy his home is, so after he starts hallucinating the girl he eventually cleans his apartment. To make it more suitable. For his imaginary friend. When the only food in his refrigerator is disgusting and barely edible, he imagines a conversation in which he explains to a kid that they need to eat something. The kid is an extension of Zero, the side that is being destroyed by his violent life. When he promises to protect her, he is clinging to his dwindling humanity.
the girl is real though, the masked men mention her several times
@@DumbNub_ are you sure? Zero is the only other character to interact with the girl, the men in masks, Zero, and the girl all live in their own bubble, and Zero is the only one who goes out. Even when the girl is in the presence of another person like when Zero goes to rent the movie and the girl asks to grab a cartoon, the guy pays no attention to her.
And while the men in masks are indeed acknowledged by the SWAT team that surrounded Zero during Chinatown, does it not then strike you as incredibly suspicious that in this one instance where a masked man acknowledges them, they also died less than a second later (in what would be considered real time)? The only other person to mention the masks is who we believe to be the Psychiatrist at the beginning and what we assume to be the exact same person when Zero is hallucinating ("So tell me again about the men in masks...")
However, this is how I think we can tell the receptionist absolutely is real. If you stayed true to your lie and snuck right out the front, the SWAT officer survived and talked to the receptionist, acknowledging her existence, whereas killing the SWAT members would cause the psychiatrist to mention his disappointment with your work and how they had to take care of her. However what they talk about might not be quite as we see either though. For example, the receptionist might not have had a crush on Zero like his recollection of the events describe and she was instead rather professional. Like instead of
"Ooh we should watch anime together ;)"
"Anime is a path I walk alone."
It was more like
"Would you wanna watch it with me?"
"Sir this is a Wendy's..."
but Zero still remembers it that way because that's how he would've wanted it to go and the outcome of them not doing it stayed true. Maybe a few days down the line, his recollection might be that they actually did hang out but they weren't right for each other, or something wilder.
1:32 the noise of his text scroll fit perfectly with the music here. I love it
This is the most Beautiful game ive ever seen, i hope katana zero 2 comes early
The free DLC is in the works, apparently it's gonna be triple the size of the original game. I just hope it can give me the strong feels like this one did haha
0 dislikes as all things should be. This scene is the fucking best man, so beautiful and heart warming
where men cried.
I was 18 years old, a senior in high school, and preparing for the college entrance exam. My father had stage 4 colon cancer, and after 8 years, he and I started a successful business again. If there is anything important in life, you must promote yourself and always have a dream in your mind. I spent the last of my teenage years sleeping in a chair on the rooftop of a university hospital, and now I am the CEO of a business.
*sadness a entered the chat*

There goes my happy ending...
Thanks for uploading this scene :')
man.
Thank you for reminding me how terrible I am 😭
Got the golden ending on my first playthru, she's too precious 😤
How does the little girl know about the men in masks
Good question, unfortunately only time will tell... Tho good news is the dlc is still in the works! At least from the news I heard
The little girl is a hallucination that Zero starts experiencing a couple months after he was put on a reduced Chronos dosage. He starts seeing the masked men after he misses a dose. None of them are real, so they know what he knows.
@@brettzforemancomedy is seen reading a newspaper in murdower hotel
@@DumbNub_and acknowledged by nobody, right? The girl was taken to the movie rental place and the clerk didn't mention or acknowledge her existence once.
In fact, the only four people to ackoledge the men in masks being real are Zero, the SWAT officer who dies less than one second after seeing him, which means that was probably a hallucination from Zero to not a real interaction, the psychiatrist who acknowledged them more as a hallucination he had i.e. "Tell me again about the men in masks...", and the girl, who we established has only been acknowledged by three people, Comedy, Tragedy, and Zero.
if the developers will k7ll her in the sequel/dlc, i'll just cry
Oh don't worry she probably isn't even real in the first place...
