I feel like this video has given me the push to finally take this off my bedside table and actually read it! For some reason every time I go to read it, I get scared and put it down. I want to love it so much, it makes me nervous. Great video as always!

So pleased and pleasantly surprised that The Haunted Queen ranked number one on your list. It's arguably my favourite in the series too, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Anything Jane Seymour related rarely makes it to number one in many peoples eyes as they think she's boring or a scheming minx.
Like Anna of Kleve, Jane is a hard figure to write about as we know so little and doesn't come across as a big personality but Weir managed to craft a decent sized book about her life and pov. My interest was held throughout and Jane did come across quite fair and favourably.
Totally agree! I went in thinking it would be my least favourite but Weir was able to infuse so much personality into the character that I throughly enjoyed it!

I remember learning about the tudors in Primary school and being obsessed, then they never came up in secondary school which was a shame! I’ve so far read the first two and just started on Jane Seymour. I’m not 100% sold yet on the series, I think they have both been too long so far and I struggled a bit during Anne Boleyn that it was (for a large part of the middle) the same story as Katherine of Aragon told from the other side. I liked the back story of Anne and her ending but the middle dragged for me, not helped by the audiobook narrator who I couldn’t get to grips with. I read Katherine physically. So far I’m loving the audio of Jane, and I’m looking forward to the other queens whose lives I know almost nothing about! Very much enjoyed hearing your thoughts and ranking. Catherine Howard sounds really interesting. 👸
I’m glad the audio is better for Jane and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series ☺️ I think the Katherine of Aragon/Anne Boleyn story is so well known (if you’ve been taught about the wives!) that there wasn’t really much for her to add? She definitely uses more creative license from Jane onwards! Thanks for watching ☺️💛

Have you read Margaret George's Henry the 8th? It was the first Tudor book I read (in 2000) and it was excellent. I am just starting book 4 in this series (have read P. Gregory's) in the readalong, hope it is not the worst for me! ;)

I’m quite resentful that we did hardly any Tudor history at my school- just a couple of weeks in Year 8. Our main historic period we came back to again and again was the World Wars. This is probably why I can’t get enough of Tudor content while everyone else seems to get sick of it! 😂
I think I lucked out with a history teacher who was Tudor obsessed! 😂👌 I’m still fascinated by them now though! ☺️💛
I am a huge Tudor nerd as well. I saw a documentary probably 15 years ago, and I was hooked. I am in the US and literally ordered all these books from the Book Depository before they closed for these stunning covers. I could not find these covers with any US book seller. They were all selling the ugly cover ones. I believe those might have been with a US publisher? The pretty cover ones were definitely a UK publisher. I will be honest though, I've had to order several books with beautiful covers from the UK. The American versions are usually not as attractive. I love Alison Weir's writing so much. She's a fantastic writer. I hope she continues to write many more series of this time period.

I also grew up in Scotland and didn't do anything about Henry VIII or the Tudors. There was a wee bit of Mary Queen of Scots and a LOT on the Jacobite rebellions. I guess we didn't look at the Tudors because the countries were still separate at the time.
Yeah, I guess I hadn’t really thought about but I find all the differences so interesting! ☺️
So thankful to Weir for creating this series, I loved it as I knew I would. A whole book devoted to each Queen, no easy task. I was sad that it had to end in a way.
I think Weir did a great job overall. Weir stuck to fact as best she could and obviously filled in the blank spaces with fiction. Some of her creative choices are questionable in places and did anger and disappoint some but I didn't personally mind.

I loved Katherine Howard. She wasn't some flossy. She was a teenager who was taken advantage of and out into a horrible situation. I also enjoyed Anne Boleyn. I'm not an AB fan, but her story was enjoyable up until she sort of mean girls my Katherine of Aragon

I have a question. See I've recently bought "the six wives of Henry viii" and Katherine of Aragon: the true queen". I don't know which one to read first. Based on Google the Katherine books is the 1st one to read but there isn't any mention of when to read "the six wives of Henry viii". I neeeeeeeeed help pls before I start reading and then I get confused by the timeline. I did once started reading the Anne Boleyn book and got confused not knowing who Henry is and his previous wife
Hi! ‘The Six Wives of Henry VIII’ is Weir’s non fiction book that looks at all the wives together. ‘Katherine of Aragon; The True Queen’ is a fictionalised version of those events. So it depends if you want fiction or non-fiction ☺️ if you’re going to read the fiction series, definitely start with Katherine of Aragon first as that will set the scene for you. I hope you enjoy them! ☺️💛

I had sort of stopped looking because I thought you had taken down the wish list and was accepting donations for MIND. I’m sure it’s me that’s mistaken x. I notice on the wish list 3 little cat nip mice. I’ve had those for my cats and they aren’t very good but……. If your kitties like cat nip, have you tried the STINKIES range? They have a few different products but the cat nip sardines are totally amazing. It’s definitely true because my cat Ginger told me so😉please have a look at this range and if you add the stinkie sardines to your wish list I would really really like your fur babies to try them. Please could I also say that I suffer with my mental health, badly at times but better recently. I need to take anti depressants and anti psychotic meds. For a long time I felt very ashamed of my mental health issues but I’m getting better at sharing my condition and don’t hide it any longer. I lost all my friends when I hit rock bottom and live a reclusive lifestyle. I do shop and if I have appointments I do attend and I always do what’s necessary but take no joy from socialising. It sounds awful but it’s how I’ve become. I’m so sorry for rambling but please if I may continue……. I heard you describe a feeling of detachment on one of your videos and I think it’s the same feelings I have but I describe it as having lost the feeling of ‘looking forward.’ All that said, I get so much pleasure listening to your voice and watching your videos. When I see you have a new video I’m there for it immediately. Thankyou for sharing your life with us all. I really appreciate you xxx
I am struggling to remember where I learnt about the tudors. I don't think it was school... I think it was a combination of Blackadder, my royalty-obsessed mother, and,erm, Philippa Gregory.
