Definitely felt the same! I've noticed his vulnerability towards showing raw emotion and also realizing insights on the fly, are highly correlated to rapport with the interviewer.
As a therapist, I can always sense that he soo deeply worked on himself, his character and self-awareness, which gives him so much strength and wisdom in many ways. And, it is my first time listening to Steven and he inspired me a lot. Very nice listening to both of you, guys.
By the way, I have this habit, when I'm inspired to talk. Because I know that I forget them if I don't put them out right away, and can't wait to share my thoughts😁😁🤭 But when I'm not in my environment, I can listen all day long. ive followed gary from 2010, i love gary, was so inspiring for a young man, watched him blow up on youtube around 2015, hes amazing, he started getting some haters, from losers who didnt want to work or couldnt accept they had the talent to succeed, gary kept talking about hard work, patience, kindness, empathy, this stuff is not for everyone. gary is not for everyone, his clients are big companies, influencers, athletes, musicians
The way he talks about his mum is so inspiring. Any mother would be so proud to hear her son talk this way about them. As a mother myself the end was quite emotional. What a great episode !
1:15:50 - this part literally has me crying. I lost my Mom when I was 13 and she was a single Mom. As a Dad of two beautiful children, this hits my soul. Thank you Gary and Steven for keeping this human, raw and real! Much 🧡!
I love how Gary's mother supported him when schools tried to make him out to be a failure. I wish I had, had half of that kind of support. I grew up in a university of adversity filled with several family members who did all they could to destroy me. But their cruel words have shown me my strengths and where I shine brightly!
Sometimes critique comes from a place of fear as well. Forgive them in your heart and move on. It will do wonders for you. Your drive will stay, but the pain will go away. Just my personal experience.

Gary is so vulnerable in this and that’s so powerful for so many people. We all have our down days and hearing that from someone with such a success is going to help so many.
Vulnerable?! Did we listen to the same thing? Leaving aside that the word vulnerable has been so overused and constantly mis used more accurately by gen Z as to render it essentially meaningless, this guy wouldnt know vulnerability if it bit him on the nuts. The fact that when he paused momentarily for breath in between this hour plus exhausting brag-fest to offer up some self-seving Oprah-lite moment was actually bought by you and many others here clearly attests to the fact that he's a good marketer. I'll give him that at least, I mean to me it's so obviously utterly phony and cringeworthy, but plenty of others are lapping it up it seems and it's a numbers game at the end of the day selling anything including yourself. He's just speaking his truth 🙄 after all kids right? Honestly this comments section is making me feel suicidal if this is the level society is collectively at these days. Holden Caufield would be stabbing himself in the eyes forced to listen to this asinine drivel for more than a few minutes.
I'm 44 years old and have always been a positive and happy person due to my grandparents, parents, uncles, and later in my years my RUclips mentor's teachings some of which I have never met that have had a great impact on my life. I too have immigrant parents and a lot of what Gary talks about resonates deep inside of me. Gary mentioned a story about those individuals that didn't laugh or smile and how he would try to make them laugh as a kid. I feel he was born with that gift of gab and also able to see the good in people and bring it out of them and I'm pretty sure he's helped a lot of people by being the way he is even before he was Gary Vee. On to my point, I was in a leadership class and I had a class member at the end of our 8 months session say that he taught at first my happiness and positivity were bullshit and fake but as the class went on he realized that I was genuinely a positive person and happy and I inspired him to be happier and see things in a more positive light. So don't be afraid to be a positive person even if people may think of you as being fake you never know who is watching you and who may benefit from you being you. Not everything in life will always go the way we want it so when the shit hits the fan it's best to laugh about it now because we will surely be laughing about it later. Cried at the end while watching. Felt good to witness him slower than he usually is. I understand his speed is who he is but as a viewer all I’ve seen is fast Gary. So it shows humanity to see tears and pacing that isn’t 90 to nothing. Yeah I’m subbed up to this channel for sure
I loved so much of this. Gary’s deep compassion and wisdom made me cry. Steven kept his calm when Gary interrupted. A little more listening, Gary, and letting your conversation partner finish a thought, would be the finishing touch. Both of you are sensational. Thank you! 🌟
He’s just super passionate which is a factor that I relate with. Beginning to speak you get super energetic and it’s like revving up your engine and haul assing.
I love Gary because his attitude towards hustle culture is always pointing to joy. He really wants people to do what they love and uplifts them and brings them joy, and its such a beautiful sentiment. Many many many people come out here and preach how successful they are, but he preaches how happy and satisfied he is, and its so beautiful and refreshing. Thats true wealth. As a mother, we can all only hope our babies continue to love us like this throughout our lives.
I would say I'm grateful for life giving me the lesson that I had to learn living with and surviving my mother. I'm not so grateful for her per se. But if life only gives you that which you can carry, then I know I can carry a ton and I'm grateful for that, too.
I've been around the market long enough to know that these ups and downs can still prove to be highly beneficial, time and again I've seen people use these windows of opportunities to make millions and set up for retirement, I just don't know how they did it.
You need someone with the knowledge and strategies, someone dedicated to the cryptocurrency market business, and I will strongly recommend Rheagan Max Deplonty
The way you manage to get to the core of who your guests are is incredible. That being said the nonecessant trait of Gary to jump into a conversation before a question is quite finished is exhausting. You can be passionate, but show respect and listen to the whole question or opposing thought. The ending confirmed to me Gary is a good guy, he just still needs to work on his interviewing technique.
You judge. Must be exhausting to apply strict standards in the midst of interesting offerings day in and day out. That’s him. He isn’t you. He has this mind to offer in this way.

@@moutaz30 I believe my comment was straight forward and i personally don’t think there was anything wrong with what he thought/stated.. other than the fact that it was factually inaccurate to tell the guy “there is no judgement in the comment. It’s a fact.” Also judgement is just an objective word/concept, it only has negative connotations if you deem so. I hope that clears up any misunderstandings
It really resonated with me when Gary said "I can sense that I am driven by love". And, my mother is a huge part of it because of that balance between parental love and not escaping from reality.

When I think back to 5 years ago and how far I have come as friend, partner, father, to the people in my life I care about, I can honestly say that Gary has helped me to become a better version of all of those things than I would have been had I not found him and his content. I met Gary when he was signing CRUSH IT at a Seattle bookstore. I told him I wanted to start my own walking tour business and as he signed he said contact me that's a great idea! I had that business 3 years, but I never contacted him, who knows now what could have changed. My point is he is still inspiring me as I start my podcast at 62, and yes he us a nice guy!

On the issue of our foundational worldview failing a person, before they change - Steve eventually gave up. But both perspectives are valid - it's after a view fails you that you're motivated to reevaluate; also regardless of foundation and diverse experiences, perspective can make a difference. The best way to start the new year is watching this! Absolutely a side of Gary that I have not seen this deep before. i've been watching Gary's videos since maybe 2017 or 18 and I could tell he was kind and had a deep sense of empathy and desire to help people but this is just awesome. People think being emotional is a weakness but it is not, is just such a tell that a person has a heart and cares.
Gary Vee is a guest I’ve waited years for on this platform and it did not disappoint. Firstly, Steven your skill and ability to actually LISTEN to your guest, dissect their answers, and counter with a thought provoking avenue for the conversation needs to be commended and you continue to refine the skill of conversation to where you really are one of the best in the world at your craft. Secondly, I’m happy to see Gary get a trusted platform and audience to be vulnerable to - consuming his content intensely you’ll know he’s a great person at the very core and the message he’s trying to share is a meaningful and profound one. In a world where people are often clipped and taken out of context Gary is someone who’s victim of that too many times. Which as he mentioned isn’t a shame for him - but the people who will miss out on the value he can provide. He’s one of the first people in my life I’ve encountered online to echo so many different emotions and belief systems I hold so dearly, none more so than when he looks back on how he was as a kid and the values and love his mother instilled in him. I even think back to my Mum telling me just the other day how I used to purposefully scrape my arms at lunch when I was 6, so I could go and sit in the doctors office and speak to all the old ladies that worked there for hours. My friends think I’m weird sometimes how passionate I’ll get about DOACEO at times if they don’t know the platform. The privilege we have to have a complete transparent look into the conversations of some of the greatest minds of our generation and in so many forms is incredible and such a blessing. Thank you Stephen for the incredible podcast and work. P.S after watching so many of these episodes one subtle detail that stood out that spoke to the person-ability and people oriented nature of Gary Vee is the fact he actually referred to him by his name on multiple occasions. Although that sounds irrelevant and a small detail I don’t remember too many guests actually doing that of late.
this episode could’ve been 12 hours long and I would still find myself hung up on every single word, it’s a crazy privilege to be able to hear these conversations that are so real and relevant for right now. The core message of people having the power to adjust their mindset to reach the level you guys have is painfully important and I already feel as though it is being taken for granted because not enough people have listened to this podcast/ watched this episode. It goes past thanks at this point Steve, the level of gratitude I have for your conversations is insurmountable.
Steven did a great job with this and completely keeps his cool when never getting to finish his questions before Gary starts speaking 😆 Its about 5 years since I last listened to anything from Gary, I think experience and lessons over the last 5 years, I've got a different interpretation and understanding of what he talks about. He's full of gold, if you can really hear and understand it.
His schtick may work for some, but I have seen Gary utter some ignorant statements. So, to one over a certain age, he can seem like a flim-flam man selling bromides-emphasis on the bro.

And harnessing a rough early childhood can amplify how you walk on this earth years later (challenging the status quo). I took a lot more from this discussion than the one on Sir Richard simply because the answers he gave were ones I heard before on other interviews (still enjoying seeing that interview though). This Human Gary hasn't forgotten the very fabric of the cosmos that has made him who he is...his mother and father and I think this is an important facet to have when one is successful.
This is the most Steve has spoken in any episode (that I have watched) - you can actually tell these guys like each other, like a couple of mates rather than interviewer and interviewee... the mutual respect is awesome!!!

I love Gary and props to this interviewer for this great piece so far, but by 54:18 I’m really cringing (for once, out of all the Gary content I’ve seen) at how much Gary is interrupting this very fascinating thought of the host. I know Gary’s not trying to interrupt but he’s basically cut off every attempt for the guy to finish his point to then be able to answer, and it’s seems that his assumption of what that question is, is wrong. Props to the host!! That’s difficult haha

Self worth is truly a self navigated journey. I know that I value myself for reasons that might not make sense to others. The external metrics are cool but I look at how kind I am to my kid and I know I am crushing it. I look at how something that used to trigger me, doesn’t now and I smile.
The single most impactful statement I would give anything to say to my mom, who passed two years ago, is said at 1:15:30. Thank you Gary for your transparency. I've never burst into tears during a podcast, but it happened right when you said "You Did It"... Such powerful words!
I often have no idea who your guests are and I come from a completely different background. I’m 70 years old. My family have been in public service not private enterprise. Mr Vee is right that being close to people at significant times in your life is crucial. His childhood was with his parents and when he was old enough he dedicated his talent and skill to his parents in return. When my mother ( growing up in Manchester in 1940s) got her first salary she bought a dinner service for her parents. They were a very poor family. He has continued to maintain decent values underlying his life’s work - just the view of a little old lady with white hair. I like him
I now remember why I stopped listening to Gary. He says so much, but so little. And goes around in circles “I don’t give advice…. What people should do is…..”. Steve is a brilliant interviewer and handled the Gary Vee ego well.
I played pickup with Gary and experienced the exact same scenario he describes towards the end. And we won the second game - not because we were more talented but because he convinced us that our will was stronger than theirs. He’s not making this up. It’s how he lives

For someone who has followed Gary for many years, this video (especially mentioning his mother and what she instilled in him) and the answer to the final question puts a lot more context behind the person we know and love. It's something we rarely see, maybe never see from Gary, and it helps to explain his feelings and emotions when he often discusses his early family and friends years. It's a fantastic podcast, which I think showed a more human element to Gary which we don't often get to see.
Steve... It's been a long time, my old friend. It's incredible to watch you grow, and to see where you've taken your career. I just want to say, this has got to be, hands down, the most inspiring episode of ANY podcast I've ever watched or listened to. The 3 of us are VERY similar to one another, and listening to the two of you talk about these things has really been a mind blowing eye opener. I guess I just want to say thank you. Gary is so vulnerable in this and that’s so powerful for so many people. We all have our down days and hearing that from someone with such a success is going to help so many.

I'm 44 years old and have always been a positive and happy person due to my grandparents, parents, uncles, and later in my years my RUclips mentor's teachings some of which I have never met that have had a great impact on my life. I too have immigrant parents and a lot of what Gary talks about resonates deep inside of me. Gary mentioned a story about those individuals that didn't laugh or smile and how he would try to make them laugh as a kid. I feel he was born with that gift of gab and also able to see the good in people and bring it out of them and I'm pretty sure he's helped a lot of people by being the way he is even before he was Gary Vee.
On to my point, I was in a leadership class and I had a class member at the end of our 8 months session say that he taught at first my happiness and positivity were bullshit and fake but as the class went on he realized that I was genuinely a positive person and happy and I inspired him to be happier and see things in a more positive light. So don't be afraid to be a positive person even if people may think of you as being fake you never know who is watching you and who may benefit from you being you.

Cried at the end while watching. Felt good to witness him slower than he usually is. I understand his speed is who he is but as a viewer all I’ve seen is fast Gary. So it shows humanity to see tears and pacing that isn’t 90 to nothing. Yeah I’m subbed up to this channel for sure

I would say I'm grateful for life giving me the lesson that I had to learn living with and surviving my mother. I'm not so grateful for her per se. But if life only gives you that which you can carry, then I know I can carry a ton and I'm grateful for that, too.
I've been around the market long enough to know that these ups and downs can still prove to be highly beneficial, time and again I've seen people use these windows of opportunities to make millions and set up for retirement, I just don't know how they did it.
The common mistake we newbies make is without help and legit guidance from a professional.

The way you manage to get to the core of who your guests are is incredible. That being said the nonecessant trait of Gary to jump into a conversation before a question is quite finished is exhausting. You can be passionate, but show respect and listen to the whole question or opposing thought. The ending confirmed to me Gary is a good guy, he just still needs to work on his interviewing technique.
You judge. Must be exhausting to apply strict standards in the midst of interesting offerings day in and day out. That’s him. He isn’t you. He has this mind to offer in this way.

It really resonated with me when Gary said "I can sense that I am driven by love". And, my mother is a huge part of it because of that balance between parental love and not escaping from reality.

I met Gary when he was signing CRUSH IT at a Seattle bookstore. I told him I wanted to start my own walking tour business and as he signed he said contact me that's a great idea! I had that business 3 years, but I never contacted him, who knows now what could have changed. My point is he is still inspiring me as I start my podcast at 62, and yes he us a nice guy!

OMG, the energy between Gary and Steven is 🔥. Gary's so pumped up Steve's struggling to get a word in edgewise sometimes. On the issue of our foundational worldview failing a person, before they change - Steve eventually gave up. But both perspectives are valid - it's after a view fails you that you're motivated to reevaluate; also regardless of foundation and diverse experiences, perspective can make a difference.

The best way to start the new year is watching this! Absolutely a side of Gary that I have not seen this deep before. i've been watching Gary's videos since maybe 2017 or 18 and I could tell he was kind and had a deep sense of empathy and desire to help people but this is just awesome. People think being emotional is a weakness but it is not, is just such a tell that a person has a heart and cares.

Gary Vee is a guest I’ve waited years for on this platform and it did not disappoint.
Firstly, Steven your skill and ability to actually LISTEN to your guest, dissect their answers, and counter with a thought provoking avenue for the conversation needs to be commended and you continue to refine the skill of conversation to where you really are one of the best in the world at your craft.
Secondly, I’m happy to see Gary get a trusted platform and audience to be vulnerable to - consuming his content intensely you’ll know he’s a great person at the very core and the message he’s trying to share is a meaningful and profound one. In a world where people are often clipped and taken out of context Gary is someone who’s victim of that too many times. Which as he mentioned isn’t a shame for him - but the people who will miss out on the value he can provide. He’s one of the first people in my life I’ve encountered online to echo so many different emotions and belief systems I hold so dearly, none more so than when he looks back on how he was as a kid and the values and love his mother instilled in him.
I even think back to my Mum telling me just the other day how I used to purposefully scrape my arms at lunch when I was 6, so I could go and sit in the doctors office and speak to all the old ladies that worked there for hours.
My friends think I’m weird sometimes how passionate I’ll get about DOACEO at times if they don’t know the platform. The privilege we have to have a complete transparent look into the conversations of some of the greatest minds of our generation and in so many forms is incredible and such a blessing. Thank you Stephen for the incredible podcast and work.
P.S after watching so many of these episodes one subtle detail that stood out that spoke to the person-ability and people oriented nature of Gary Vee is the fact he actually referred to him by his name on multiple occasions. Although that sounds irrelevant and a small detail I don’t remember too many guests actually doing that of late.
this episode could’ve been 12 hours long and I would still find myself hung up on every single word, it’s a crazy privilege to be able to hear these conversations that are so real and relevant for right now. The core message of people having the power to adjust their mindset to reach the level you guys have is painfully important and I already feel as though it is being taken for granted because not enough people have listened to this podcast/ watched this episode. It goes past thanks at this point Steve, the level of gratitude I have for your conversations is insurmountable.

Steven did a great job with this and completely keeps his cool when never getting to finish his questions before Gary starts speaking 😆 Its about 5 years since I last listened to anything from Gary, I think experience and lessons over the last 5 years, I've got a different interpretation and understanding of what he talks about. He's full of gold, if you can really hear and understand it.
His schtick may work for some, but I have seen Gary utter some ignorant statements. So, to one over a certain age, he can seem like a flim-flam man selling bromides-emphasis on the bro.

@@TheDiaryOfACEO I thought this discussion was a lot more in depth with Gary then other discussions. I like the part where he loves to loose. And harnessing a rough early childhood can amplify how you walk on this earth years later (challenging the status quo). I took a lot more from this discussion than the one on Sir Richard simply because the answers he gave were ones I heard before on other interviews (still enjoying seeing that interview though). This Human Gary hasn't forgotten the very fabric of the cosmos that has made him who he is...his mother and father and I think this is an important facet to have when one is successful.
This is the most Steve has spoken in any episode (that I have watched) - you can actually tell these guys like each other, like a couple of mates rather than interviewer and interviewee... the mutual respect is awesome!!!

I love Gary and props to this interviewer for this great piece so far, but by 54:18 I’m really cringing (for once, out of all the Gary content I’ve seen) at how much Gary is interrupting this very fascinating thought of the host. I know Gary’s not trying to interrupt but he’s basically cut off every attempt for the guy to finish his point to then be able to answer, and it’s seems that his assumption of what that question is, is wrong. Props to the host!! That’s difficult haha

Self worth is truly a self navigated journey. I know that I value myself for reasons that might not make sense to others. The external metrics are cool but I look at how kind I am to my kid and I know I am crushing it. I look at how something that used to trigger me, doesn’t now and I smile.

I often have no idea who your guests are and I come from a completely different background. I’m 70 years old. My family have been in public service not private enterprise. Mr Vee is right that being close to people at significant times in your life is crucial. His childhood was with his parents and when he was old enough he dedicated his talent and skill to his parents in return. When my mother ( growing up in Manchester in 1940s) got her first salary she bought a dinner service for her parents. They were a very poor family. He has continued to maintain decent values underlying his life’s work - just the view of a little old lady with white hair. I like him

I now remember why I stopped listening to Gary. He says so much, but so little. And goes around in circles “I don’t give advice…. What people should do is…..”. Steve is a brilliant interviewer and handled the Gary Vee ego well.

For someone who has followed Gary for many years, this video (especially mentioning his mother and what she instilled in him) and the answer to the final question puts a lot more context behind the person we know and love.
It's something we rarely see, maybe never see from Gary, and it helps to explain his feelings and emotions when he often discusses his early family and friends years.
It's a fantastic podcast, which I think showed a more human element to Gary which we don't often get to see.
