  • The fibres I used were from:
White mohair was a trade with Cristina Perez Martin, I don’t think she sells the mohair but she does do lovely reroots! Check her out over on Instagram @Nobukoo.ooak
The Wensleydale was from Etsy from a shop called NewmoorBarn in the UK
The teeswater was from another Etsy shop called YorkshireWools also in the UK
The curly purple mohair was from Mohair house, the website is currently disabled and I’m not sure if TheMohairHouse on Etsy is the same company. I bought this several years ago
The alpaca is my own and I do not sell alpaca, please don’t DM me about selling alpaca 😅 there’s plenty available on Etsy

Your videos are very informative. Will you be doing a video to show us the method that you use to dye the fibres?

I keep meaning to, but my method is a bit trial and error. I’m really open with the type of dye I use (acid dye, usually jacquard brand) so I’m a little worried if I do a tutorial I might not be the best authority on it? There are loads of wool dyers on RUclips that can show you how to use acid dye on wool and that’s where I got my info 😊 if I do a video, it will be more of a ‘this is my method’ and not a ‘this is a best practice method’ 😂

    Здорово 👍.
Я наверное ни когда не решусь на перепрошивку головы, хоть мне очень нравится! Но это так долго и сложно на мой взгляд !

thank you very much for the video.
And how to make sure that teeswater & Wensleydale does not fall off during the reroot? this is my problem. I'm rerooting and it falls off at the roots, which is impossible to comb even, just cut it off and into the trash :(

I’m not sure what you mean by fall off, I try to reduce any hair loss by making sure my knots are low enough on the hair that it incorporates all of the section I’ve taken for the plug and make sure that I brush it first.
If all your hair is facing the same direction, it shouldn’t felt either so you shouldn’t have to cut it off, if the fibre is doubled over and you’ve done a lock and loop reroot it will felt and won’t be brushable, I’ve made that mistake before 💕

can you straighten the teeswater lock hair?? Im wanting to make a horse art doll, and I love the curly texture, but was wondering if you could brush it out and straighten it and how smooth would it get. I cant seem to find any information on it.

You can straighten it but it’s still quite frizzy from my experience. It doesn’t go as smooth as the naturally straighter fibres do.
It’s relatively cheap to buy, usually about £5 or so per oz and there are loads of great sellers on Etsy, so you could always experiment 😊

@@eleanorclancy1672 Thank you so much for replying!!!!!!! what kind of hair fiber would you recommend for an art doll - a lion with a 4-6 inch mane?? its hard for me to find fur that length to make the main. teeswater is an option I will try but if there is a straight fiber i could try thats like a fur ill try it.

How much alpaca or mohair do you need for a peteena reroot?

    • @eleanorclancy1672
      @eleanorclancy1672  3 года назад

It would depend on how long you want the hair, I did mine in alpaca and the weights are pretty similar, my own peteena has waist length hair so I used 5/8ths of an ounce (16g) after rooting, but for the one I reroot EF on RUclips she had floor length hair so I probably used closer to a full oz. you’ll lose a bit of hair when tying the knots and prepping the hair so it’s best to order more.
(I’ve just weighed her head and a blank one to try to figure out how much hair is in it 😅)
