Hello. I implemented your method and I think I’ve found a way to achieve the same results without having to rename each channel. I discovered that if you route, say, all your drums through a folder, associate that folder to a bus and then rename that bus, for example as ‘SUB ALL DRUMS’, you can then use this name in the filter macros and Studio One will show only the folder and it’s associated tracks. It’s easier than renaming each individual track!
Great tip! I found that as well, but there are cases where I wanted to retain the granularity as well. An example of that would be if I split a folder/bus, like I sometimes do with a Backup Vocal group. I would typically send that to the Main Out in parallel to the regular vocal folder (though I could send it to the regular vocal bus where it would be caught by this method). I'd like to be able to call these out similarly. I could do the same there and create another "group" and trigger on that name, but it has a bit less flexibility. It's also very common that I'd duplicate a track rather than creating a new one, so the name would come with it, so there is no effort in that for me. The other place that I use these names is in the color toolbar (check my newest video for that) and those names are covered by the coloring as well. Glad you were able to find a method that works for you, though, and thanks for sharing it for others who might use it as well.
Haven't used the Macro button much myself, nor really the channel editor functions a lot, but I can see how these could be useful. For example, if you had controls across a number of different Plugins mapped on a single channel (i.e. lead vocal), rather than diving into the (sometimes not so useful Plugin controls), you could access some "most used" things using the faders on the FP8. I'll have to think about a real-world use for this and lay it out and see if I can build something of a tutorial around that. Thanks for the watch and the video suggestion.
An interesting option, but why not just use the Studio One Remote app for that? Since it is made for Studio One, it seems like it would be a better fit. Is there something you are pointing out about this app that the Studio One Remote wouldn't do?
@@BladesMusic s1 remote is good but it's not very customisable. I just got touch portal and it's really powerful and customisable with a lot of screen space. Also looks great once you get your own icons on there. For example I have a page dedicated to loading plugins and one dedicated to shortcuts such as pitch up +1 and pitch up +12 and set loop and zoom and many more. I really like your idea of setting up the different track views btw. I'm definitely gonna use that! Cheers
@@richardsmithson4453 Thanks for the reply. I get what you are saying about the S1 Remote customizability. I think it's a cool app, but I have found that I just don't use it for some reason. I'll check out the option you mentioned here. Glad the track views bit was useful to you.
@@BladesMusic I guess you've got the Fader port which is really nice. Definitely worth a look at touch portal if you want to maximise your macros though. When I'm writing I can just load up instruments and FX and edit the midi without messing with the mouse too much. I was going to get a stream deck then I found the touch portal app. I bought a 100£ tablet instead of a stream deck. I want a fader port 8 but I don't have much desk space really!
Let me know how that works. I've looked at a StreamDeck for OBS, but actually opted for this exact Logitech G910 instead because it has more keys to map when considering the banks of macros keys and doubles as a nice "regular" keyboard and for a little less than half the price. But I DO like devices used for specific purposes.
@@cambuslangsteve9797 Interesting. As I showed in the video, the thing that makes it "show all" in my example is the ":" in my track/channel names. I wonder why this would be different for the StreamDeck.
Hello Blades Music I see I'm a little late on this one however I have a faderport 8 that I just got and also a Steelseries Ampex raw gaming keyboard and would love to set mine up like yours for that's the way I work if this comment finds you well please help
Thanks for the sub! and for the comment. I love workflow stuff. So much so that I spend more time coming up with workflow and incorporating it into my thought process more than I actually spend "doing stuff" - :)
I've been keeping an eye on the changes in the ColorToolbar app that I've been using, which is now in a version 2.2.something - I'm looking to incorporate this into my "system" but still have a few issues that don't work exactly to my methods and screw things up, but I've not yet tried the newest release, so I'll have to see how that works with my bus/folder setup.
Thanks. Creative way to streamline the work flow.

@@BladesMusic I see your point. Whatever works for each of us. I'm going to watch the Color Toolbar video now... Thanks!
Awesome. Hope you like it and it helps you!
I was hoping this would touch more on the macro button on the Faderport. That's one of my 5 least touched buttons that needs some love.

Fantastic
brilliant could probably do that with a gaming mouse of which I have neither, so my question is how do I do that just in the faderport.
Great video, I subscribed because of how good it is. I really like your workflow.
Awesome, thank you! It's really great to get comments like this.
Tray Touch Portal App. This iwill be a good alternative to the keyboard. More features and easy to program.

Very interesting. I think I will try this with my streamdeck...

Thanks for your reply. It works great. My only issue is that ‘show all ‘ macro does not work with shortcut, so I have to open inspector manually...

Oops... I forgot the colon;)
When I add the colon it works a treat. Thank you!
