  • Before I installed the power steering setup into my FJ40, I rebuilt the pump, I knew that it would needed a rebuild from evidence of leaking front seal, In this video I show how rebuilt the power steering pump Step by Step, 40 Channel style.
    With a full replacement of seals, clips and bearing. Plus flushed and cleaned out. Now it like new.
    The power steering pump is from a 2H Toyota motor purchased from ‪@MrLandcruiser‬
    Plus we look at Chuck's FJ story and how he has come full circle from his first FJ40 back in '1988' then moving onto a number of cars which include 1969 Corvette Convertible, Chevy Suburban, 1963 Chevy Nova SS, 1967 GTO Pontiac then finally onto his new poject a 1966 FJ45LV in Spring Green.

    I too have a 1966 FJ45LV in Spring Green. I am about half way through a major restoration. I will finish it some day. Thx for the inspiration.

    At 20:46 when you flipped the pump upside down I did not notice the indent on the vein housing you noted at 11:46. It might not matter mechanically but I think the vein housing should have been flipped. Enjoy the videos thank you for sharing.

      I just realized this also, and was scouring the comments to see if others had notice the same.

    Love your series, every thing you've done has been a big help for future reference. Wiring still gives me nightmares though. Get in touch when you're round W.A

    Hey mate do you happen to know the part number of the bearing that you installed? About to rebuild mine hoping to have it all before I whip it off.. thanks

    The flow control valve on my FJ45 power steering pump is dripping while sitting in the garage. Supposedly a new pump. I am having trouble finding the rebuild kit… might you have this part number available?

    Any differences in a 05 toyota highlander/kluger pump? I need to rebuild mine but I find no resources online to show me how. I've watched a few rebuild videos of other power steering pumps, rebuild kits are readily available but don't include a bearing. How do I find the bearing I need in preparation for doing the job? Any pointers? Thanks

    Hi there mate, I love your channel. I sit in the bush in Botswana Africa and my closes help to fix things is 500km from me, so I learn from you guys on YT. I have a 1981 Landcruiser 2H hj47 that I put exactly the same pump in. Well it is leaking now and not even Toyota here can help if they don't know from which the pump originally come, or if I can get the Toyota part nr for the kit. So I wonder if you can help me with this information.
    Freddie

    What kind of clip!!! They design to lock bearing??

    • @40ChannelCruiser
      @40ChannelCruiser  3 года назад

      I call it a "Retainer Clip" Yes holds the bearing in place on the shaft. Also called a circlip.

      Hi Geoff, check out onlineautopart.com.au for the parts, they can help you out. As for who can rebuild it any good mechanic will be able to do it, but make sure you get a price from them first.
      You could always ask on the Facebook forums if anyone is in the Melbourne area.

      Hey Geoffrey, I'm from Melbourne myself. I'm going to give it a go tomorrow. I own a HJ60 1982. It has the 6bolt pump which is slightly different to the pump in this video.
