- STL THE MOVIE is a 2013 drama film. The director, Arturo Smith of NIYA FILMS introduces life growing up in one of America's most dangerous cities, St. Louis, MO. The movie takes place in several St. Louis areas that experience drug trafficking and gun violence. This film contains gritty, cutthroat, and heart-wrenching plot twists that keep the viewer engrossed in the story until the very end. The author and star of the movie, Clentis (J-Wha) White gives a breath taking performance portraying Jay living on the mean streets of St. Louis. The cast includes YC St. Louis, Brittany J, Bo Dean, Guddah Goon and Jessica Ivory.

Then I lived on Page between Taylor and Cora across the street from Pleasant Green when it was still a synagogue and the only places where black people could live in the county were Kinloch and Webster Groves.

Early last century, could’ve even been the 1800s, the city decided to break from the county because they didn’t like their taxes being syphoned off to the county (city was rich then) over time things switched about. Think it was something to do with white flight but I dunno. Whatever it was, the inner city in all cities is more dangerous than the suburbs, but St Louis proper doesn’t have a metropolitan area to water down the the inner city crime statistics like every other city. It’s no different than anyone else. I’m from Maryland Heights. Go Pirates.

Personally I think Fenton, Pacific and those areas are far creepier than the city on their best day.

This is a very interesting film with some really funny scenes. I mean really funny scenes. And beyond the profanity it's is enjoyable to see these kids try to make sense out of the world amid all the madness in their lives.

I really dig the streets montages, they really paint a powerful picture of our city, and the whole thing is so STL it might as well be a chunk of Provel cheese! That being said, the plot is pretty difficult to follow, and you lost my interest about a third of the way in.
