really cool , I have a few aniline pieces and know the problems well - one question - is the final finish wax based or oil? or silicone based or something else? will it dry out or crack , or need reapplying?
This is fine if your aniline leather sofa is too oil stained or damaged in other ways to repair back to its original aniline state but this one could have been.
this way you transform the pricey leather to a vinyl look top coated leather. try to restore the leather without loosing the natural properties of it. sofa with aniline leather will cost 6-10 k top coated/finished leather will cost 2k
They have used "PIGMENT" and finished it with "POLYURETHANE TOP COAT " so the "ANILINE" sofa is now a "PIGMENTED" LEATHER and "WILL" have a TOTALLY DIFFERENT FEEL to it and will feel nothing like the original !!! HOW DO KNOW ?? I've been in the leather business for over 50 years ! very naughty to call this video an aniline restoration !
Totally agree with you. An aniline leather can be dyed but never painted or clear coated A semi aniline can have a painted surface and clear lacquer but minimal amounts, no more than 20 micron thick. It is not as soft as a full aniline but has a degree of uniformity and protection that aniline does not have but is still softer than the standard clear coated leathers
