Many Americans don't believe it. The per capita GDP of the United States is 6 times that of China, and the per capita PPP is 3 times that of China, but the price is 7-10 times that of China. However, this is a tourist area and is inherently more expensive. If it is an ordinary place, it will be cheaper. 10-15 times. A monthly salary of US$2,000 in China is much better than US$10,000 in the United States.
I always see Americans shocked by food prices in Asia. I'm surprised America is known for having a lot of "fat people" if your food is much more expensive than ours
Real food is expensive. Processed, high calorie, and nutrient-deficient junk is what makes people fat.

KFC/McD and pizza pizza used to be fancy when they were just introduced to chinese market (that was when i was in elementary school and im now 29) we as kids went there for bday party and stuff. but now they are more just fast food type. starbucks is still kinda fancy to us (feel its overpriced even here in canada

Durian is literally the worst thing I've ever put in my mouth and I was forced to eat liver and Prairie oysters! Anything you have to plug your nose to eat, should not be eaten and it tastes awful!

I know you like to eat different foods and try different things from different but I have to ask you have you ever encountered dog or cat in the street foods that you've come across? I'm only asking because when my brother passed away the owner of the restaurant where I worked wanted me to come into work, and I've just been told he passed away and they were giving us time to set with before taking him to the morgue. I told him I couldn't but he insisted that I'll be there in the afternoon because he didn't have enough people to cover me and was even short handed that morning. On the day they cremated him which was four days later, I told nyan that I was not feeling good because of what was going to happen that day and he asked me what do you want to go watch??? A really odd answer. But then he said oh no wait and some cultures they do go watch them while they burn the body. Needless to say I thought all of it was rather odd.
