First of all I would like to say I truly love this channel and have learned so much about skin care over the past year. Susan and her team have really helped me to start a routine and improve the appearance of my skin. With that being said, I am so glad you decided to feature a woman of color with some African decent. Often times black woman are neglected in the field of skincare as it pertains to our specific needs for sun protection, hyperpigmentation and sensitivity issues. For instance hyperpigmentation disproportionally affects us women. Overall, its important to realize than skin care is multi-factorial and ethnicity is a key player that will determine which products may/may not work on an individual. I probably learned more from this video than I have watching any of the dozen videos. I want to applaud your efforts on educating us all.
Finally, someone on the chocolate side lol. Love the video, also Susan can you review elf skin care ? I know it’s on the cheaper side for you lol but I wanted to see what a professional thought about their skin care.
Aimee Ramirez when you have oily acne prone the right cosmetic treatments with simple ingredients is the best I would just tell her to cleanse tone with spray hydrating water and hyaluronic serum or gel and a hyaluronic ampoule then slowly add in a hydration mask anything occlusive will break her out right now
Everyone drop your Susan inspired skincare routine in the comments, my skin is combo night routine: innisfree appleseed oil cleanser, krave matcha hemp cleanser, one of 3 toners depending on my mood, hado labo hyaluronic acid, purito deep sea water cream. morning: toner, Rohto mentholatum vitamin c, purito green sun cream.
Try the pore normalising toner from Paulas choice! And the ordinary niacinamide! And if you have active breakouts the azelaic acid 10% from Paulas choice is very very good as well!
Loved that this showed Asian skincare products!! There werent as many Asian skincare products represented in the other derm reviews videos so this was super refreshing and helpful❤️ Also, I would love to see a ‘top Asian skincare products’ video from you!!
I love that I’m learning so much from different people’s skincare routine and different skin conditions. I have bergamot oil in my facial oil and I am shocked that it can actually worsen my hyperpigmentation from my acne. Into the bin it goes
Linsey is gorgeous! The Ordinary has some good vitamin C serums for sensitive skin. The Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10% or Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F could work for her, as they sting very little. Mad Hippie's vitamin C is also very good.
Because not everything they do will work on someone else skin in the same way especially if they do not have the same skin type as them. They did give some good suggestions with in the video of different products and ingredients to look for. But they aren’t going to give a statement of “use this this and this” because 1. They haven’t seen her in person to truly know her skin. And 2. It’s more about what you personally like. Maybe this woman wouldn’t really like the specific products they’d recommend
Ma'am can you please suggest skin care routine for the problematic skin like mine. Am having oily, acne prone and sensitive skin altogether,, having acne scars even,, whatever I use on my skin breaks out more,, I will be highly thankful for your help.
I find it so weird that they didn’t give her a proper routine ! I just checked all the precious videos and for everyone else you did it... so why not with her susan ? 🤔🤔🤔
SOglam101 We watched all the analytics of the videos and found most people dropped off at the end when we recapped and gave the routine, so we tried to make suggestions throughout the video instead.
That's my favourite part as well and makes it clear which products you should be using for a particular skin problem, especially if you are a newbie at skincare
I've used 3 cleansing oils so far and the first one I used was that Manyo one. It felt heavy, I can't remember if it emulsified well... But I've moved on to the hada labo one and the softymo speedy cleansing oil and both are light, cleanse and emulsify well, and cheaper too. I find the softymo one emulsifies slightly faster and it's cheaper than hada labo's. But follow up with second cleanser of course. The hada labo foaming cleanser was alright but felt a tiny bit drying after finishing the second bottle. I love the curel intensive moisture care foaming wash instead.
I am oily combo & hyperpigmentation-prone. Love the Murad product (recent purchase) but I do not use it daily. If I'm getting close to my microdermabrasion appointment I'll avoid it a week before and about a week after. For me, low percentage actives, simplifying, and consistency have me seeing the biggest improvements. Still tweaking and learning but my skin is way more predictable now than ever.
Hey Susan! I love these so much, especially Dr. Desai! I would really appreciate, though, if you would allow her a bit more room to speak. Since we don’t get to have her as much, I’d really love to hear more of what she has to say. The two of you are awesome, though.
Hi Susan, can you do a video on "classic" skincare? Like those creams that women have been using for decades that are still sold today? Such as, Revlon Eterna 27, Ponds, etc. Should we get in on those creams older women swear by?
Sounds like seborrheic dermatitis. It’s the scientific word or dandruff on the scalp. That is what happened to me. There would be dry patches around my mouth and on the bridge of my nose and on the sides of my nostrils. It would hurt as well. It tends to happen to oily skinned people as well. I went to my dermatologist and he prescribed me a sulfur face wash that literally took it all away. It was great. I am also less oily as well. I have a full skincare routine from the dermatologist. I also use the ordinary’s niacinamide serum and Generactive Retinoid 2%. I hope this helps! Best wishes.
Susaaaan! PLEASE!!!! First of all thank for these super informative videos I love spending my time looking at these. Second can you please react to Kourtney Kardashian’s skincare🙏 I think she had donde a great job. Actually, I also want to know your opinion in Dr. Barbara’s skincare because I have some thought 😅 I love you ❤️ thanks a lot
Wow she uses 500 products on her face, I‘m no expert but cleanser, exfoliant, serum and moisturizer seems a better option. Let‘s keep it simple people !
It can get out of hand yeah. I’ve been learning so much about different actives and their benefits. At one point I had too many samples for my own good & I had a time trying to decide on which concern I wanted to target 😊 My skin can be a bit combo too, so I get the urge to get products for certain areas
Could you please list specific alternate product options ? I fall under this skin type, would love to know what are some products I should be shopping for e.g what’s a good vitamin c, aha bha treatment, retinol, cleanser, cream/ lotion? Thanks for the tips: vitamin c in am and retinol at pm, no or minimize oils, no or minimize essential oils, do micellar water + wash off, do in office chemical peels. One more thing what slip agent can we use when doing guasha? Thanks!!!
When I use Vit C serum I get deep cystic acne? I stopped using it but any reason why? Same with dark spot brightening serum. I have a lighter olive skin tone. Mix of welsh, Italian, and middle eastern. Any advice ?
That ELF night cream broke me out so badly. Omg I don’t even struggle with acne and it made me get like 15 pimples over a week. I threw it out after a week. It’s awful!
I keep hearing people say that the skin isn’t that bad in the AM but I have oily skin & when I wake up in the AM it’s even greasier & oily! Should I be concerned? 🤔
I washed with just water when I had oily skin though...or use micellar water then wash off if super greasy. Using harsh cleanser may strip the skin and cause the skin to produce more sebum/oil
@@crmwlatte yeah absolutely, people dont need to be washing their faces with a cleanser in the morning. a rinse with tap water or gently wiping with micellar water is truly enough
@Yani's World not overly concerned but it means your skin was not hydrated enough while sleeping so it overcompensated. Try using 3 layers of a hydrating toner before your moisturizer.
I've been shaving my chin hair since I was a kid and the number of hairs have increased over the years. I can only guess that they have increased in number because I have been shaving them but I hear people say that is a myth.. but I know my experience. What do you think? Also HOW CAN I GET RID OF THEM??? I really wished I listened to my mom when I was younger smh
I looked up the Hada Labo Skin Plumping Gel Cream you ladies recommend, alot of reviews are saying it is a humectant and should be used with another moisturizer on top. But you all did not mention this, sooooo which is true?
Are there any products that she can use that will PERMANENTLY dry up her oily skin, to where it is always smooth and normal? Do derms ever use low-dose Accutane to stop oil production? Too risky?
Yes. Just be careful with acids like glycolic acid it can cause more hyperpigmentation in some cases. Use something light loud pixie glow tonic after patch testing.
I don’t think the amount of products she’s using is exactly the issue although to a certain degree yes. She’s using a lot of normal to dry skin products.
Would be great if something like that existed 😂 Maybe it isn’t a job for a cream though? I’ve had undereye creases my whole life, got used to them. Would stick with spf & a retinol proactively then eventually get a little filler down the road. Maybe they could do a video to breakdown attainable expectations for skincare products vs. treatments bc I’ve listened to some say that the capacity of anti-aging products to visibly reverse fine lines & creases is marginal at the most. I’d love to know which products will be effective if given time vs those that 💵🚽
Linsey is using too many products. I have oily, acne prone skin and Im around the same age. I use an oil cleanser (only at night), a foaming ish cleanser, toner, Vitamin C , very LITTLE moisturizer as-needed and then sunscreen. If I use too much stuff, my skin gets worse.
Hey Susan! My dermatologist told me to not wash my face anymore and to stop using any product on my skin because she says that our natural sebum and our natural bacteria are the best ingredients to sooth and regenerate our skin. What do you think, should I follow her advice? (I have mild hormonal acne and hyperpigmentation)
She has talked before about using gentle cleansers (that’s why oil cleansing helps) I’ve been opting for AM cleanser that’s less “soapy” I’m not on board with the 100% natural/paleo, hands off school of thought. Hopefully she directed you to good diet that can help with inflammation & hormonal acne
Update: my skin looks great right now, I didn't wear make-up and only washed my face with water, other than that I only used a gel moisturiser with niacinamide, spf and sometimes raw honey as a mask ... it's working great!
Okay let me debunk the sunscreen myth, doesn’t matter the formula of any kind of sunscreen on the market. It will rub off, DO NOT use spf mists/sunscreen powders. As your reapplication they don’t provide enough coverage/protection. You can use the powders to cast the shine from sunscreens. Use an actual sunscreen uva/uvb protection reapply at least 3 times a day !
MaskedJoeeey as great as that sounds it’s just impractical for anyone who wears makeup haha. No one will ever remove their makeup, re apply sunscreen and re-do their makeup 3 times a day lol
why would one alternate sunscreens? lmao, just go through one at a time....man, all the people in these vids just have SO. MANY. PRODUCTS. that they're using at one time...like, slow down, lolz....and yea, as a lot of people have already mentioned, for some reason they didn't give her a routine
SuJu_Mimi different sunscreens have different levels/types of protection but it can be too irritating to use daily. I alternate between a chemical and a mineral sunscreen. My chemical one isn’t enough for daily use but my mineral one clogs my pores and causes cystic acne which is painful. Thats a VERY common issue with sunscreens.

Susan should do a skin care give away for the holidays
love these videos!
PLEASE do Anncy Twinkle or Alexandra Beth from Alexandrasgirlytalk! 🤧♥️
Well they need to email their videos to Mixed Make up.
Oh, so she's not doing those celebrity/RUclipsr reactions anymore? Pity :(
This is my favourite series 👏👏👏
This doctor reminded me Sharpay Evans lol
What's the difference between hyperpigmentation and freckles?
Please make a review for Zo skin health products
tranexamic acid is great for menstrual cramps btw
LOVE this series ❤️✨
Could you please list specific alternate product options ? I fall under this skin type, would love to know what are some products I should be shopping for e.g what’s a good vitamin c, aha bha treatment, retinol, cleanser, cream/ lotion? Thanks for the tips: vitamin c in am and retinol at pm, no or minimize oils, no or minimize essential oils, do micellar water + wash off, do in office chemical peels. One more thing what slip agent can we use when doing guasha? Thanks!!!
If there is several steps in the routine, how long should be kept between application of each product? (serum/treatment/moisturizer/spf)
Love your advice ❤️❤️❤️
Yessss a video for me ‼️‼️‼️
Another great video! ❤️
You do need to wear sunscreen it doesn’t matter if you have darker skin and if your trying to fight hypertension you need to use it
Take the day of balm from clinique is bomb. No perfume. Follow up with Miccelair water
Also, more information about collagen supplements, oral and topical as well. Thanks
Love both of them 💕☺
Skin care routine for indian skin, if possible.
When I use Vit C serum I get deep cystic acne? I stopped using it but any reason why? Same with dark spot brightening serum. I have a lighter olive skin tone. Mix of welsh, Italian, and middle eastern. Any advice ?
What happened to the videos with Sharzard? It's been so long since I've seen a new video ☹️
do a rection to kourtneys skincare😍
Hi Susan would love to see a review on A313 Vitamin A Pommade... thank you xoxo
I love this videos!
Yani’s World
Mine does the same thing!
Anyone know what happened to the SASS? I loved those videos!!
What do you think of Neutrogena Hidroboost gel moisturizer for her?
I've been shaving my chin hair since I was a kid and the number of hairs have increased over the years. I can only guess that they have increased in number because I have been shaving them but I hear people say that is a myth.. but I know my experience. What do you think? Also HOW CAN I GET RID OF THEM??? I really wished I listened to my mom when I was younger smh
Hello, love your channel! I was wondering if you heard about the skincare line by bambu earth and what your thoughts are about their products?
I looked up the Hada Labo Skin Plumping Gel Cream you ladies recommend, alot of reviews are saying it is a humectant and should be used with another moisturizer on top. But you all did not mention this, sooooo which is true?
Omg...I think iI'll stop using witch hazel
I would love a two month or so follow up for all these videos.
Are there any products that she can use that will PERMANENTLY dry up her oily skin, to where it is always smooth and normal? Do derms ever use low-dose Accutane to stop oil production? Too risky?
Can black people use niacinamide?
Yes. Just be careful with acids like glycolic acid it can cause more hyperpigmentation in some cases. Use something light loud pixie glow tonic after patch testing.
Yes! It aids in lightening hyperpigmentation! I use it at night with my retinoids and anti-aging peptides!
@@lo_2710 pixi glow tonic has A TON of fragrance i wouldnt put it on my face
Vee P thanks I was nervous I would have some sort of discoloration from the hault of melanin production
Vee P I am pretty sure you are not supposed to mix retinoids with aha
I don’t think the amount of products she’s using is exactly the issue although to a certain degree yes. She’s using a lot of normal to dry skin products.
Linsey, girl if you ever find that eye cream that actually takes away fine lines...CALL ME.
Neutrogena has new eye cream with retinol ,very light and efficient. Costs not a lot
I was thinking abt sending a vid but I remembered that the reason my skin sucks is that I'm broke
Analetta your derm wants to sabotage you😂😂😂😂
She has talked before about using gentle cleansers (that’s why oil cleansing helps)
I’ve been opting for AM cleanser that’s less “soapy”
I’m not on board with the 100% natural/paleo, hands off school of thought. Hopefully she directed you to good diet that can help with inflammation & hormonal acne
From the Bella Thorne rxn video, idt she would support no skincare for skin that’s in need
Did she say that because your skin has been acting crazy lately? Sometimes you just need a reset from all the things we do to our skin
I've heard an actual dermatologist say this you are 100% right
@@aarondoherty8762 if you decide to use a spray, you have to use A LOT of it. and it's probably chemical sunscreen so it degrades rather quickly.
Aaron Doherty exactly, therefor your only hope is sprays with poor filters.
Hanan TK yes, especially when u wear tons of cosmetics, this is why I tell everyone to apply a good layer of spf before applying any cosmetics.
Wow, I cant believe she’s 37yo!
why would one alternate sunscreens? lmao, just go through one at a time....man, all the people in these vids just have SO. MANY. PRODUCTS. that they're using at one time...like, slow down, lolz....and yea, as a lot of people have already mentioned, for some reason they didn't give her a routine
I struggle with spf. I’m black but I want mineral sunscreen. Klairs has a good reputation but might be a bit pricey while bioré is drugstore
What do you think of zo skin health??
What about clay mask with ACV?
