I love the superpowers. It’s very “of its time”, but it also adds some visual flair that they don’t need to justify in each MV because it’s just part of their brand. 😄
I mean they incorporate their powers all the time, so it's not like it's out of nowhere other than being a while since seeing his power in particular. It's EXO's concept, why would SM let it die? especially now with so many new(er) groups having a storyline and overall concept...? 🤨

We've been waiting for ages for his solo debut and we almost can't believe we finally have his solo album on every streaming platform!!! Minseok (xiumins real name) is seriously exos hidden gem! He can sing, he can dance, he can rap, he's a great actor and he also took part in some musicals, even during his military days!! He was my first ultimate back in 2013 and he still holds such a special place in my heart.. seeing him so happy, comfortable and appreciated by everyone is the best I could ask for. Firstly, can you imagine this guy, Xiumin, is already 32? Haha, he is truly the fake maknae in EXO. Okay, now, PD, I just want to share some infos about Umin. Actually, I rarely make a long comment but this is about Xiumin! I really love and appreciate him for a long time. - He's such an all-rounder definitely (he can sing, rap, dance, and his aura on stage is ... chef's kiss!) - I love his rap in EXO - Full Moon anyway - Acted in some dramas and even a movie, also joined some musicals. - The members said that Xiumin is such a caring, mature, considerate and talkative person. He and Suho keeps telling dad jokes, lol. - He was offered the leader position in EXO-M before his debut, but he refused. - Very talented not only in entertainment industry! (he's got a black belt in Taekwondo-Kendo, loves sports esp. soccer, practiced wushu & fencing and from what I've read in some news, he's got a PhD. His professors have noted that he was a model student who never missed any assignment and attended most of the classes. Ah, superb! (╥﹏╥)) - A neat freak (and I love that fact :D) - His solo projects so far: Young & Free (ft. Mark NCT) Shake (EXO-CBX Magic album) Beyond (I love that stage performance so much!) Xiumin is a literal vampire. He has not aged a day and still looks so cute. Im a big fan of his voice, and this song really gives me CBX vibes, Baekhyun's Candy vibes and maybe even a little bit of Zico's Artist. I thought he'd do something upbeat, but I never thought it'd be so dance focused and trendy. Either way I love it and I can't wait to see more content from him during the promotions!

this song reminded me a lot of exo-cbx and i've been waiting SO MUCH for a style like the one they have, so when i heard brand new it just felt so damn good and it matches xiumin's style perfectly!! Something i also noticed is that out of the back up dancers only two of them were girls which is an odd number for kpop performances to use (normally is half girls and half boys or smth even), and they were actually dressed the same as the boys, so i found it very refreshing and creative beacuse they could have used only male back up dancers but they didn't. Being the danceaholic i am i have no other choice than to learn such a cool choreography 😅 Thanks for your reaction pd!!!
I really love how all the exo members lean into their "superpowers" in their solos in some form or fashion- xiumin with the blond look matching the icy/frozen scenes, suho's songwriter name is sh2o and he's constantly incorporating water into his music, kai teleports in his mmmh MV, d.o. using his earth centric powers to bloom flowers, and baekhyun has consistently used light in his works. Anyway, this song is super refreshing to hear and the mv is playful and clever in general. It's nice to see him do something like this for his solo debut!
I also think that this is a perfect debut for Xiumin. He just sneaks up behind you and knocks you out with his singing, visuals and talent. His attention to his stage presence is why I find him so fun to watch performing. I also really liked his vocals on this kind of track, I’ve been dancing around to it all day. It’s really great that the members are pursuing solo music in the genres they really like so it’s an interesting mix of music when you put them all together. Like Baekhyun and Kai were talking about in another video, they are really excited to see the EXO together that has leveled up doing their solo work.

I've always been a D.O. fan but I can say when I saw EXO live the first time I absolutely fell in love with how dedicated and enthusiastic Xiumin was and I'm so glad he's getting his spotlight. I will be completely honest: I didn't know Xiumin was going to release this, nor did I know he was going to make a solo debut like this. But wow, that MV and song completely blew me away. Xiumin has a voice that is very suited for a ballad, so I thought it was going to be a ballad, but no, he completely threw me off by putting out this song that you can dance and be happy to listen to. Xiumin has always been the hidden ace in EXO. His eyes really draws you in and make you blush. Blooming Day still has the best close up prolonged shot of his beautiful eyes. The sets looked "simple" compared to other flashier MVs but your analysis makes me notice and appreciate the effort put into production for Xiumin's long awaited solo debut.
It also looks great because they have really incredible stylists. Don't forget that part! You think they're just pajamas, but they really aren't. A lot of thought goes into that part too! Our PJ's would NEVER look that good, no matter what kind production we had. Like the green and yellow color schemes..totally weird for Kpop, I agree...but there are A LOT stylists being those decisions too. I love your excitement for this. Xiumen is so amazing :)

In exo solo members works they incorporate their exo superpowers Which you’d think is cringy at first but throughout the years they have done it really well where its just part of their idol persona. Xiumin is just a great all rounder performer, and is the backbone of exo as well! Hope you like his other songs, Serenity has been a fave coz he does so well live! At any rate so glad that each member gets to do their own thing, and Xiumins first solo effort does not disappoint!
It's interesting that you say it's refreshing but familiar. Pretty much every reaction I have seen to this song/video has had a similar statement made, where it is nostalgic but fresh, or different but the same...I'm also really glad I watched your reaction to get the more videography aspects of this MV. I am surprised that SM put the budget that you are saying they put into this, into this. Typically they like to skimp on the EXO's because they know that their fanbase is solid, loyal, and active, so we will always pull up for the members even if they cut corners. So they don't promote them as much, they don't give them as much of a budget, etc. Xiumin really came in full throttle for his debut, I am super proud of what he gave us, and look forward to much more in the future.

Yes this is Xiumin's solo debut. But he has done OSTs, acting, and musical while he was in the milirary plus recently played the role of Orpheus in the Korean Broadway adaptation of HADESTOWN.

Notes about Xiumin: -EXO-CBX call themselves chipmunks. So I loved that high-pitch parts that remind me of The Chipmunks characters. -All the EXO members have a different super power. Xiu in’s power is ice. -Xiumin said in an interview that the concept is that he is both delivering a present AND being a present. It shows that he has worked so hard on his post-military debut; he really wanted to thank his fans for waiting patiently for him to return. -If you haven’t seen Xiumin’s “Beyond” performance video, I highly recommend it.
Yes that is his first official solo music since he got back from the military. This is also his debut as a soloist. Xiumin was actually in EXO's special comeback Don't Fight The Feeling last year. If i remember correctly, you were freaking out after seeing him and Kyungsoo 😂

this song reminded me a lot of exo-cbx and i've been waiting SO MUCH for a style like the one they have, so when i heard brand new it just felt so damn good and it matches xiumin's style perfectly!! Something i also noticed is that out of the back up dancers only two of them were girls which is an odd number for kpop performances to use (normally is half girls and half boys or smth even), and they were actually dressed the same as the boys, so i found it very refreshing and creative beacuse they could have used only male back up dancers but they didn't. Being the danceaholic i am i have no other choice than to learn such a cool choreography 😅 Thanks for your reaction pd!!!

I really love how all the exo members lean into their "superpowers" in their solos in some form or fashion- xiumin with the blond look matching the icy/frozen scenes, suho's songwriter name is sh2o and he's constantly incorporating water into his music, kai teleports in his mmmh MV, d.o. using his earth centric powers to bloom flowers, and baekhyun has consistently used light in his works. Anyway, this song is super refreshing to hear and the mv is playful and clever in general. It's nice to see him do something like this for his solo debut!

I also think that this is a perfect debut for Xiumin. He just sneaks up behind you and knocks you out with his singing, visuals and talent. His attention to his stage presence is why I find him so fun to watch performing. I also really liked his vocals on this kind of track, I’ve been dancing around to it all day. It’s really great that the members are pursuing solo music in the genres they really like so it’s an interesting mix of music when you put them all together. Like Baekhyun and Kai were talking about in another video, they are really excited to see the EXO together that has leveled up doing their solo work.
Xiumin first solo album is so vibe and catchy, easy listening. All songs in this Brand New album typically 90's or early 20's songs, kind of Xiumin music.

I will be completely honest: I didn't know Xiumin was going to release this, nor did I know he was going to make a solo debut like this. But wow, that MV and song completely blew me away. Xiumin has a voice that is very suited for a ballad, so I thought it was going to be a ballad, but no, he completely threw me off by putting out this song that you can dance and be happy to listen to. It wasn't what I thought it was going to be, but man, Xiumin killed it~~ I mean, we been known that Xiumin is insanely talented, but for him to put out this song and dance like crazy made it even better~

This is his first solo mini album! He did a collaboration with NCTs Mark before, he sang two ost and another with CBX. Before military service he got a SM Station called You, that song is beautiful too.

I totally agree with the sexy aura that he has, and I've seen his evolution to be this confident, at the beginning he was really shy, and didn't like to be the center. But he has gained a lot of confidence on and off stage, so it's really refreshing seeing him doing his first solo album. I'm so happy that you really enjoyed as much as elsas
Xiumin has always been the hidden ace in EXO. His eyes really draws you in and make you blush. Blooming Day still has the best close up prolonged shot of his beautiful eyes. The sets looked "simple" compared to other flashier MVs but your analysis makes me notice and appreciate the effort put into production for Xiumin's long awaited solo debut.

It also looks great because they have really incredible stylists. Don't forget that part! You think they're just pajamas, but they really aren't. A lot of thought goes into that part too! Our PJ's would NEVER look that good, no matter what kind production we had. Like the green and yellow color schemes..totally weird for Kpop, I agree...but there are A LOT stylists being those decisions too. I love your excitement for this. Xiumen is so amazing :)

You definitely got what ive been thinking but cant place into words.. he is indeed smooth and soft! In exo solo members works they incorporate their exo superpowers Which you’d think is cringy at first but throughout the years they have done it really well where its just part of their idol persona.
Xiumin is just a great all rounder performer, and is the backbone of exo as well! Hope you like his other songs, Serenity has been a fave coz he does so well live!
At any rate so glad that each member gets to do their own thing, and Xiumins first solo effort does not disappoint!
It's interesting that you say it's refreshing but familiar. Pretty much every reaction I have seen to this song/video has had a similar statement made, where it is nostalgic but fresh, or different but the same...I'm also really glad I watched your reaction to get the more videography aspects of this MV. I am surprised that SM put the budget that you are saying they put into this, into this. Typically they like to skimp on the EXO's because they know that their fanbase is solid, loyal, and active, so we will always pull up for the members even if they cut corners. So they don't promote them as much, they don't give them as much of a budget, etc. Xiumin really came in full throttle for his debut, I am super proud of what he gave us, and look forward to much more in the future.

Yes this is Xiumin's solo debut. But he has done OSTs, acting, and musical while he was in the milirary plus recently played the role of Orpheus in the Korean Broadway adaptation of HADESTOWN.

-Xiumin said in an interview that the concept is that he is both delivering a present AND being a present. It shows that he has worked so hard on his post-military debut; he really wanted to thank his fans for waiting patiently for him to return.
