Sorry but did Chrissie self-select the censorship of Precious, or was this done by the editor? This is an awesome, angry, snotty song which sets the stage for one of most diverse and glorious debut albums, and to me, the “fuck off” at the end of Precious enhances the song. Why was it removed?

I had no idea who Howard the Duck was and the lyrics were not provided in the LP sleeve so I could not understand the lyrics before "stuck in a world"
Did you know who Mr Stress was? That was the one i couldn't work out - I knew who Howard was - his tag line was 'trapped in a world that he never made'.

These are all Cleveland references, including The Shoreway. Chrissy spent a lot of time pre Pretenders in downtown Cleveland listening and learning. The rest is history.
They used to play this thru on the radio, till someone complained, then Had to censor the F@$&Off. Oh well.

Prince of bla bla bla- what a silly statement! Not a good comparison. Kurt WAS Nirvana… it was his band. The loss of James Honeyman Scott and Pete Farndon is not parallel or comparable in any way, shape, or form dear boy…and those first 2 records are my favorite. That lineup was something special. But carrying on was absolutely the right thing to doChrissy always has good players in her band! And thank goodness she got Martin back in the fold. 🇬🇧✌️
