True this movie isn't realistic in the slightest, but what they did here was give the employee a choice when her higher up told her "Your call". She selfishly chose to do her job to look good for her peers but denied compassion to the woman. She tried to make the woman feel like she was on her side when she was just acting like she was and blamed her boss every time she was confronted when it was her call.
True, but I see it as a test on her character. Had she stood her ground for the old woman, at least she would have been demoted or fired from the company, still much better than going to hell. Employees make an institution. Every thought and action starts from an employee.

The part they don’t show is right before this scene her and her boss are talking about a promotion, her boss tells her it’s between her and another guy because he’s “not afraid to make the tough decisions” so when he said it was her call, he was saying what she did would either give her the promotion or make her lose it.
Thing is if you're doing that well you can afford to buy a house you should pay for it IMO if you can't afford the mortgage sell it and move somewhere smaller 🤷♀️

Google Google I liked it also when I watched it in the 02 in London. The audience was screaming along with me lol. Watching it back I can see a few cheesy bits and understand why critics did not give it a good wright up. Cheese aside I still feel it has some great scenes. Especially the seance.
