Hiya Danny. Great work covering the shower and window mate 👍🏻 🤞🏻it will save some electric on the air source heat punp. And as for the feeder prehaps some PVC pipe over the feeder hole and poked into the polycarb will stop the birds.
Thanks buddy. It's definitely made a big difference to the heating costs. More than I thought it would. I'll give that try with the PVC pipe. Will only keep the feeder on for another week or so then I'm going to start dropping the temps and give the fish a bit of a winter
Hi Dan, running my heater at 15 at moment, haven't insulated shower, can't find poly sheet anywhere at reasonable cost, so I've turned it right down to less than a trickle, just so it keeps the media damp, bulk of the water returning to pond via underwater returns, roll on spring.
The cost of polycarb is an absolute joke. Makes sense turning it down. I wouldn't have bothered if I didn't already have it. Hopefully this winter isn't as cold as last one 🤞
Nice update Danny! How about a 1.5 inch rubber elbow attached to your FishMate then a piece of 1.5 inch tube to go straight through the hole of the poly sheet and the food goes straight in the pond :-)
Nice video Danny considering you haven't uploaded in a while buddy don't matter what the covers look like as long as they do the job thanks for sharing all the very best Martyn 👍
Cheers buddy. All helps with insulation and made use of some old bits so no more money spent. Just been catching up on your build. Your doing a cracking job. Keep up the good work. I know how hard it is in weather like this. Will be all worth it in the end 👍
@@dannycurrie1 I know you build your pond around this time of the year buddy I have watched your build videos were your fingers numb mine were today 🤣 all the best Martyn 👍
@@martynskoipondandgarden4581 it was awful mate. The mud was the worst part for me 😂 all worth it in the end though. Doing the build in the winter means you get to enjoy it all summer so it's not all bad
Thanks for the update. I'm down to 7 degrees, wish I was heated, poor fish lol. How come you have gone back to that feeder rather than the superfish one. Cheers.
The heating definitely makes a massive difference. But costs alot obviously. Hopefully this winter will be a quick one. Swapped back to the fishmate one because the portion size on the superfish is too big for this time of year. I'll use it again next year. Doing 3 smaller feeders with the fish mate one rather than 1 or 2 big ones. With what I'm hand feeding there still getting about 150g a day for now
Pond, fish and covers all looking good👍😊. ASHP’s are worth their weight in gold, never heated before and now wondering why☹️. Window cover should help with the heat conservation 🤞. Keep up the good work👍🐟🈲😊

Hi Dan i to spoke AES about error code guy said they had loads of calls from concerned ponders .This is my first winter with remora i12 have noticed it has been running for many hours to get to 15deg that i have it set to therefor costing more in electricity 🤦🏻♂️received a message from Kevin from koi enthusiast he run his at 17deg he has used a logger to track his costs which this last week has been 71p wow .How do you find your running costs mine is fibreglassed pipes lagged drum is in garage 25mm polycarbonate covers don’t under stand why it is running so long to get to sired temp it was achieving 15 from start up until this last week or so .thanks
Thanks for commenting buddy. I don't have a data logger on mine anymore but going off the smart meter it's been costing 50-70p a day most days. Last 2 have been over £1 with it being in minus temps. In regards to how long it's on. That's how there supposed to work. The inverter technology allows them to run at a slower speed (using less power) to bring the temperature up slowly. So they are on for longer than a standard on/off heat pump but don't run at max power. Mine usually draws between 400-600w while running but can run at up to 1.8kw if necessary. And standard on/off heat pump would use the full 1.8kw while running, heat up much quicker then turn off. Supposedly the way the inverters run is more energy efficient
hi mate, just out of curiosity, how much does the remora cost to heat at 15c when the air temp is zero or below for the day. been thinking about getting the 15kw model but cant find many people that have used them to get a rough idea, thanks
I don't have a data logger on it at the moment so it's hard to tell. But based off the smart meter it had been costing around 50-60p a day when it was milder, cost has definitely shot up the last couple of days. Had -4 2 nights in a row not getting above zero in the day. I'd say both days have been more like £1-1.30 ish. But you don't get many days a year when it's that cold in the UK
Hello I have a request if you have any spare screws left over after you have installed you kockney koi skimmer. Would you be willing to sell them to me as I have lost a few and the seller said he does not know where to get them from. They seem to be unique screws not easily found. If you can send me some let me know thanks. I will be asking a few pond owners many thanks.
All looking good dan 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers buddy 👍
looks nice and definitely works good i bet! koi are looking good.
Thanks mate. Hopefully saves a few £ on the heating 🤞

All looking good fish looking brilliant good job on the shower need to cover my shower before next spell of bad weather Happy Christmas 🎄🤶🤶🎄
Nice update Danny, maybe use a leftover piece of 3 or 4 inch pipe to stop the birds. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Stay safe and well 👍🏻
Thanks. I'll have a look through my Soares box and see what I can find
Covers look great and will save you some money
I certainly hope so 🤞

Love it Danny mate a man after my own heart in the use of copious amounts of duck tape 😂😂😂💯💯💯👌👍👍👍
Ducktape can fix anything, it's a proven fact 😂
Thanks for watching mate. Roll on the spring now
Hi m8 thanks for the update
I do like the moss growing on the shower 👍
Yes it has grown really well over the summer. Not sure if covering it up is going to kill it or not. We will find out in the spring 🤞

Welcome back 👍 fish are looking great, and nice job on your insulation that should work a treat
Thanks mate. Pleased with how it's turned out. How you getting on with your build. I know your a few videos behind still

Good idea on the covers for the window and shower..

Totally agree. Wouldn't be without one now. In the grand scheme ok koi keeping, heating isn't really that expensive
Nice job on the shower, I think it's important as we lose heat in this very cold weather. Keep em coming mate.
Thanks. Hopefully it saves a bit on the heating bill. Can't hurt anyway :)

Thanks for the update Danny. Watched this over breakfast and quite enjoyed it. Every little thing helps doesn't it in terms of insulation.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching. Hopefully it makes a difference. Made good use of the old polycarb I had anyway :)
Hi Danny, enjoy latest update on pond, just bought a remora heat pump how easy is it to setup after install is it just plug and go
Really simple mate. Just connect up your pipework and turn in on and away it go's. Worth every penny 👍
