    Thanks. I just installed a whole house fan, and this is just what I need to control it via the home thermostat that has "fan" or "heat" options.

    If the relay has a N.O & N.C contact w/ a common it is a SPDT switch.

    I just started doing HVAC controls. We hook them up before our exhaust and supply fans.
    I know logically how it works but I can't draw a picture. I need to fully understand controls wiring drawings to be as good as I need to be.

    Thank you, that helped. Freaking out about adding two of these to control two separate lights and a common fan in a bathroom. I have an idea now how to make it work. The 6 wires threw me, both now i know its voltage.

    I am trying to use an RIB01BDC to control my fireplace with a TP-Link smart switch on the other side of. I have my 120v going from wall to smart switch, then to RIB. Neutrals are connected.
    With nothing else connected, I get no LED indicator on the RIB.
    My hope was to use the yellow and orange wires on the RIB to switch the low voltage wires for the fireplace. The fireplace was on a switch before and worked fine.
    Not sure where I am going wrong. Smart switch is working perfectly. RIB has 7 wires, black, white, blue, yellow, orange, white/red, white/blue.
    Any thoughts? 😥

      did you figure it out? I'm running into the same problem with my fireplace

    • @porterdna1101

      The Coil is NOT enough load for your "Smart Switch" to operate.

    • @wingerrrrrrrrr
      @wingerrrrrrrrr 4 года назад

      @@porterdna1101
      The smart switch doesn't need a load to operate though, it just switches 120V to its socket.
      If it works with a lamp it should be able to drive the 120V relay coil, which is white/yellow and white/black. If it was connected to white/blue it may have damaged the relay.

    • @u2ooberboober
      @u2ooberboober 4 года назад

      Sounds like you need to use wht/yellow and wht/black for coil in series with your smart sw if using 120v...

  • @petercohen2284

    Hmmm... Can I use this type of relay with a 24vdc motion sensor (PIR-8) to create a control system to switch on/off a 120VAC circuit?
    Hope this makes sense.
