I can imagine a character willing to brave the danger of the Beastlands just to say a proper good bye to a fuzzy friend.
So dogs DO go to heaven in dnd
Domestic animals most often end up in the 7 Hevens of Mount Celestria, while wild animals tend to go to the Unspoiled Wilderness of the Beastlands.
So yes. Dogs do go to heaven.
And cats
No dogs on the moon.
They always had their own heaven
If my dog isn't in the heaven that I'm in, I don't want to go.
Maybe a beast master could go into the beast lands to recover them after they have died. That could be a fun adventure to run and would make sure they value there companion more
ultimate feels campaign, especially if the companion doesn't want to go back and would rather stay and rest.
i was just trying to picture something similar for a rogue/ranger/assassin named Won Jick, where he goes to recover his dog after some (very dumb) criminals killed it
@@dyland3r and maybe the Ranger would want to stay with them lol
I love this idea
I was actually thinking about this. The Revised Ranger (Unearthed Arcana) beast master summons their beast companion with a ritual so it would make a lot of sense if the companion came from the Beastlands. There could be an interesting quest to visit the homelands of the companion to fulfill a deeper bond etc.
In 3.5, the Beastlands were the home of the mortal Outsider race known as Wildren, which were the descendants of dwarf petitioners (yeah, that makes sense) that have become very badger-like in their time on the plane, and especially their home on Karasuthra.
Also, consider playing a talking animal from the Beastlands if you want to incorporate them! It's the perfect chance to play a Narnia-esque character!
I remember reading that Mt. Olympus is in Arborea, and that the mountain has a path to Hades, though I don't know how that would work. It would be cool if a party could only make it to Elysium, then took Oceanus to Arborea, scaled down to Hades to save a few souls before making it back home.
I'm surprised no mention of Olympus. Before Arborea was called Arborea in Planescape, it was Olympus; and even in Planescape, the Elven Pantheon still split the plane with the Greek Gods (hence the Bacchae and Satyrs and the like being there).
3rd edition though pushed the "real world" mythological pantheons out of the Great Wheel cosmology for the most part.
It's also a highly morphic and potentially non Euclidean world as well as an infinite plane. It's prime real estate for gods and I personally always imagined that there were many more pantheons so far separated by distance and obscure spatial geometries that they'd never even interact or know about one another.
After extensive research it's has come to my attention that good aligned lycanthropes stay in their hybrid form not the animal form or human form well in the Beast lands
Thanks for the comment. Where did you find this info out? I'm always curious :)
Jorphdan one of the older Forgotten Realms books talks about how specific followers of a deity I can't remember the name off hand are rewarded with that it's the reward of the hunt it's either the first or second edition God of the hunt
@@linguisticallyoversight8685 Selune is considered the Goddess of good aligned lycantropes, as well as of the moon.
linguistically oversight 86 That’s odd. There is no good aligned god of the hunt except for one Elven deity in the Realms. Solonor Thelandria. The only other god of hunting is Malar, but he is an evil beast god of hunting.
Stronmaus, Chaotic(Neutral) Good Greater God of Storm and Cloud Giants lives in the Beastlands. He is a fairly major power. Also from the Forgotten Realms deities, there is Milil, god of bards and music; trying to think off the top of my head but those are two that come to mind.
Well that is a campaign idea; leading safari tours in the beastlands
I love it!
I wish Arborea had a more iconic race. Chaotic evil Abyss? Demons! Lawful evil Hell? Devils! Lawful good Celestia? Angels! ...I mean, Archons!
Chaotic good Arborea...? Eh... Bacchae? Not versatile enough. Eladrin? They're just elves! (Sometimes fairies.) Angels? You can find those anywhere! Just seems a little imbalanced.
Perhaps they could be Divine Elves. At least the DMG states that the elves in Arborea are considered Celestials. So now we should just come up with a unique name for a divine elf, and that could be the characteristic race.
I mean, it's elf heaven and the realm of the primary elven deity. I think it might be odd if there were something else special there other than eladrin
I completely agree. However these Elves are Celestial if that helps.
To help distinguish them from other Elfs when I brought this up in a Pathfinder game, I gave them the Half-Celestial Template just to put my own mind at ease.
There's the Asura, Chaotic Good celestials who serve as messangers across the upper-planes, though they're not tied to Arborea.
Seems like the Feywild really steps on the toes of these planes.
In the 3.0 / 3.5 edition of D&D, specifically in the Epic Level Handbook, there was a template called Paragon. It had a +18 level adjustment because it is so powerful. If one wanted to make stats for one of The Beast Lords, you could first scale them up one or more size categories, and then add that template to make a TRULY dangerous animal.
Thank you so much for another great video ♥ The only thing to add is probably, that the mentioned Grove of Unicorns is home to both Elhonna and Mielikki - intermediate, benevolent goddesses of nature and forest (but I guess you didn't mention them because otherwise, you'd have to name another hundred deities haha)
Good info! Thanks for sharing :)
@@Jorphdan Yes. Once did a Greyhawk module where druids and rangers held a hunt on full moon which was a portal to the Beastlands on the mid-summer full moons. Only once they stepped through the standing stones... they realized their 'guide' never said who the hunted were. Intelligent dire creatures really gives you a bad day.
Who is the author of planescape? The guy is a genius
It must be David "Zeb" Cook
Most of it is strongly inspired by various mythologies throughout history, so you can thank your ancestors (for feeding the local shaman magic mushrooms and then listening to his rants about these places).
The perfect personification of an animal? You be meaning de loa my bruda
Quorlinn God of the Kenku also has his home in the Beastlands
Stoked for Ysgard!
Yup I personally portrait the Beastlands very much as the Ideal world of Plato :)
Fantastic. I love it. Planescape (2nd edition) is also a great resource.
Just wanted to let you know Bacchae is pronounced Bock-kigh, like the composer Bach. It would be so cool to build a campaign around encounters with the Bacchae! In earth mythology (not sure about D&D!) the Bacchae were worshipers of the greek/Roman God Bacchus. While he eventually became a party god, he originated as a god of madness with strong ties to death and rebirth. Over the centuries he developed a trickster persona and was eventually fully transformed into a god of celebrations and wine by Alexander the Great. Theres a play by Euripides called "The Bacchae" that describes the worshipers in their chaotic and murder-y form. It's truly terrifying, and you should read it!
Thanks for the info! :D I'll check out "The Bacchae!"
informative! I am not much involved with the creatures so thanks for having a video such as this! Keep up the great work! :)
Glad you found it informative :D Thanks for watching.
Another great video. You're Saving me a ton of time and money.
I enjoyed this video a lot, I was wondering about the Elven gods plain.
In a weird technical way, the Vanishing tower is its own mini realm.
Why do all planes have layers? Did Gary Gygax think about onions while making the planes?
Great video, Keep it up! (:
Thanks!
All this fantasy, you should try and see how you do with narrating audio books.
+Riktus Loremaster never thought of it before. With all the editing i do I'm not so sure I'd be good at it lol
Jorphdan With the going rate of royalty payments? $50 minimum per hour from the author's pocket may not sound like a lot but with earning 30% from the publisher for each sell made. May not sound like much but it adds up the more audio books you create. Independent authors and narrators are just trying to get their names and stories out there plus build themselves a resume.
Thank you Jorphdan! I love to send these to my players.
That's great :D I hope they enjoy them too!
Great video and thanks for making these videos really helps with setting planing
Love the videos jorphdan keep them coming
Every Wed :)
I’m dreaming of various plot hooks in order to get PCs to go to all of these different planes :D
Thank you Jorphdan!
How to travel to other planes? I love the Beastlands!
This is really an amazing series I hope this really takes off I know you must put so much effort into this and I wish there was more I could do than just give you my thanks, but thank you!
+Charx Thankyou! 😀
The Cat Lord is a deity that also lives in the Beastlands. they are the god of all cats and the Tebaxi. when a Tebaxi faithful to The Cat Lord dies, the are reborn as a cat in the beastlands and hunt with The Cat Lord.
In the beast lands I wonder what happens if a abyssal acurshin happens?
Malar lives in the Beastlands his one of the Gods of Fury ⚡️
1:15 SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT! I WANT TO SE WHAT YOU GOT!
Time to get Schwifty
Arborea also has the realm of Mount Olympus. This is where the Greek gods love, also, same layer as the Elven pantheon. When was it changed to Elysium?
I have always homebrew/ assumed that lycanthropes went to the beast lands after they die it always seemed fitting to me
Skerrit the Forest *Walker* (@1:47)
Thanks.
Hi. Where can I get info on the "Morti" (spelling?) aka faces in the clouds? Trying to dig up a Patron from the Beastlands for my Tabaxi Warlock. Need strong backstory for role playing in upcoming campaign. I like the idea of my Tabaxi looking to the clouds for signs from his Patron.
Manual of the Planes 1st edition page 92! Or check out the Forgotten Realms Wiki!
forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Beastlands_(plane)
Great job with the videos, I was wondering would there be anyway to do a video on the Moonshae isles? I have looked everywhere and can find very little information on them.
I'll add it to my list and see what I can come up with.
If I die I want to live in the beastlands
Bachi is probably pronounced back I because Bachus is the greek god of indulgence in drink food and making merry.
Mitharder could be the original home of the Leshay.... titans in their own right.
i'm working on a character that has received a vision of the elven heaven and is seeking out adventure before the meloncholy memory of a former eternity in heaven takes his motivation with age.
Love these videos. Any suggestions for running a Planescape campaign using 5e? I was looking at campaigns such as the Great Modron March, Tales From the Infinite Staircase and Dead Gods. I've found quite a few resources online but could always use more!
I personally haven't run a planescape game, I love the lore though. I'm getting loads of info from the 2nd edition and 3.5 Manual of the Planes. Probably a good place to start for general knowledge. The Great Modron March is a classic, can't go wrong there :)
Was the fountain the one in front of the Rivera in lake Geneva?
unicorns break the mold in two ways. they are also celestials, so perhaps not even beasts.
Guardinals? They're from the Beaslands in 2e. They are BA!
Wait I'm confused, didn't the elven God ban every elf from their afterlife? Isn't that why they reincarnate and have those visions.
Hey could you do a video on the geography of the planet, so list off the continents and the countries and a bit about them :)
I'm planning on exploring specific regions and eventually a more indepth look at Kara-Tur and Zakhara. Eventually! So much to cover so little time :)
Jorphdan That would be awesome!
had some jerkish nobles attempting to planar anchor Evergold, to profit off selling the waters.
Beastlands is the home of the patron of my party's rat cultist. He worships "Rat God" a demi-god who is the embodiment of all that is rat
Edit: Also, I added non-sentient animals to the Beastlands in my campaign in an attempt to avoid having things go "Beastars" dystopia regarding the food chain...
can you make a d&d lore of Icewind dale
dog heaven is real
WHAT ARE PRIME MATERIAL ANIMALS I MUST KNOW, also, would a kitsune fit in here? i'm asking for personal reasons
Dinosaurs seem like they would unbalance the Beastlands unless they were confined to a particular area or there were giant versions of normal animals such as in Princess Mononoke. Also, would be awkward speaking to a talking T-Rex since all animals talk in the Beastlands. It would be best if they were on their own isle somewhere in Brux.
They're on their own special plateue that no one should be going to
Ultimently, if your the DM, do what you want with it.
Is it possible to go there as a Druid?
Would a phoenix be in beastland or aborea
I think it's considered an elemental, so the plane of fire maybe?
Is this the realm that turns people to animals if you stay there lone enught
That sounds more likely to be the Beastlands. A land populated only by sentient animals.
If all elvish souls are re-incarnated when they die how and why is there an elven heaven?
So, Mithardir = 4e Shom.
Couldn't both of these be part of the feywild?
The Beastlands the plane of furries
Beastlands: The Neutral Furry Plain
It's pronounced "Bock•eye"
