    Some things to add quickly...
    I mentioned the Devinah launch happening in a few hours but it’s actually a few minutes (2pm est) This video took forever to upload so I’m sorry about the timing.
    Secondly I thought about asking y’all if you wanted me to review the Killer Queen palette just for the heck of it to see if it truly is special but they have vegan friendly on their IG and are selling mink lashes so I’m going to pass.
    Hope you’re all having a lovely Saturday 💙

      Ps, don’t spend your hard earned $$120 on a not handmade palette that wasn’t sent out in PR it doesn’t seem to anyone.. if they want to charge that much, they need to let us see what real folks think of it! I’d love to see you get the itsbel? Palette that Annettes makeup reviewed recently.. I can’t think of the name at the moment.. I’m more than sure the newest collab with Sydney Grace will be stunning! @leahmiranda8359 4 года назад +21

      A Go Fund Me???? And then overcharge the people who contributed??? Sounds like a serious lack of integrity here. Especially if it turns out that these are private label.(Kara C mentioned that these shades were taken from small plastic compacts and glued into palettes). I don't know if that is true or not, but the whole thing is shady.

      I like supporting indie brands and small businesses, but not ones that seem sketchy or like that lack business ethics. Also, personally I wouldn't donate to any brand to help them stay open unless maybe it was my friend's or family's brand, but that's just me.

  • @vidatalab8301
    @vidatalab8301 4 года назад +81

    At first I thought it was justifiable for the palette to be $120 because of how many multichromes there are, but I’ve read from other comments that the shadows aren’t handmade, and that was it for me. You can’t compare yourself to a brand like Clionadh and say it’s the same thing.

    In my opinion, these small indie brands should first of all, offer smaller pans of their special more expensive eyeshdows for sale, and also instead of only releasing a 12 pan eyeshadow palette also release the separate eyeshadow pans...
    I feel like they would get so many people to try their formula because the price would not scare them away and then more people would also end up buying bundles or more expensive palettes...

    • @kristentrep5038
      @kristentrep5038 4 года назад +11

      People are def scared off by that price tag! I am! I’d purchase a couple of singles maybe.. and if they had a lot of faith in their formula, they would’ve sent out some in PR before the release date.. I think it’s a little sneaky not having anyone test it out before the release

    • @AmyLovesMakeup
      @AmyLovesMakeup  4 года назад +15

      Notoriously Morbid does sell their multi-chromes in singles and I believe they have different sizes. They also carry other palettes without the multi-chromes, but with duo-chromes and metallics for much cheaper and the formula is really good.

    Killer Queens did confirm that their eyeshadows are not handmade. The way they mentioned a Clionadh and TOG in that comment back to someone, it came off as “these other brands are charging this much for eyeshadows and we want to charge this much too”.

    • @kristentrep5038
      @kristentrep5038 4 года назад +18

      Yeah, in my opinion I wouldn’t spend $120 on that palette. If these were handmade like clionadh, Terra moons, Devinah, Glaminatrix, etc... maybe?? If they wanted to charge this much, they should’ve sold them in singles.

    Hi! Russian person here. About Sigil's new palette - it is inpired by sphynx cat and the colour story transmits just that. That is for artistic part of the deal.
    As for inclusivity... You have to realise that the brand doesn't target western market. First and foremost it is for Russian and other post-Soviet market and we have our own specifics and unique features. The fact that ppl from over the world can buy their product is just an option for those who may wish to do that but it is not the main focus for the brand.
    What you have here is the demand for ppl from other culture background to bend towards your ideological demand. That's not something you can expect from people of other cultures who may not value inqlusivity the same way you westerners do.

    Notoriously morbid also sold a multichrome palette at 120 bucks. Even if you break down the cost, it's still more expensive than buying singles, of course depending on the brand. They are also a pretty problematic brand, the owner is very much into victimization and vaguebooking.
    To anyone who feels like it's a pain to try to get the Aurorae flares, try Tammy Tanuka. Her multichromes (Chromatic series) are pretty vibrant, and a fraction of the price. She has 1ml (approximatively 1gr) at 10 bucks.Even 0.5 ml is a good size, if you just want to try them out.

  • @SuperStarr817
    @SuperStarr817 4 года назад +6

    Idk about that Killer Queens thing, the way they justified the price seems offputting.
    At least with singles, you can choose to buy 2 shades or 20 shades. Plus palettes are traditionally cheaper in terms of cost/gram or cost/shade. Not to mention that Cliondah is handmade and they have different types of multichromes at different price points.
    The packaging is also pretty basic, so it doesn't give a luxury justification either. The mirror etching could've been skipped easily for the sake of price. Idk. I'm not buying it, lol.

    I really want to try that Anti-Valentine's palette but it is just too expensive. And they are selling them as singles but when i add in the shipping for the 3 shades I want - I would rather just hold off and put that money towards another order from a well established Indie brand. It is beautiful. If it was an $80 palette I would have gotten it. I just got the Alien Cosmetics $86 all duo-chrome palette. 20 Duochromes. And I know I love their formula and the brand is intriguing to me. I would love to see you get that Alien Cosmetics palette and review it. I am loving their matte shades - pigmented, blends easily and just really interesting colors. Plus their special shadows are so good. And priced so reasonably

    I’ve stated this elsewhere but..$120 for an unknown brand who used OTHER reputable brands pricing as justification is just a real quick way for me to dump $120 on those other REPUTABLE brands. 🤔
    Edited to say: this is only my opinion and I use this across the board as a standard outlook from brands in general. I mean no disrespect but I can’t spend $120 on the attitude and outlook I personally saw from them. Keeping it kind, I’ll just say “no, thank you”.

    I’m glad you talked about the Killer Queen brand and pointed out how their price justifications were wrong/misleading. I think a brand comparing their shadows to another brand’s rather than a third, less biased party, is just not classy. Especially when they don’t actually stack up, and spreading misinformation is just not acceptable to me. I definitely support you if you want your channel to be a place where you can talk about controversial releases/topics, intending to inform others accurately. I also hope you feel less nervous about it in the future! 👏👏👏

    My take on Sigil Inspired... They've been on my radar for a couple of years through etsy and I have just never pulled the trigger on giving them a try because I've honestly been a bit iffy about the brand. They are a Russian brand, the viewpoint on social justice and inclusivity in Russia is culturally very different than ours. They've never had swatches on deeper skin tones on etsy or their website. I've always kind of suspected that if they grew more outside of Russia that this would eventually become a topic of conversation. I'm just not surprised to see a palette that light by them and I'm not surprised by the brand owners response suggesting you just pull deeper shades from elsewhere if you need them. I will happily pull lighter shades from other brands as well as the deeper shades and they can keep their palette.

      Kind of ironic to read those comments from foreign consumers because the owner of a brand and another girl called Morty who've been doing swatches for the site and instagram, have darker skin tone then most of us russians and they've been constantly receiving comments in their social media like "wow you girls are so tanned, can we get color representation on a paler skin" 😅 We are just really pale here and getting tanned is unpopular because of heath issues, We don't have many people of darker tones from other cultures like in America, like less than 0,5 percent, so don't blame them, it was originally designed for the inner market but now they have over 600 colors in their collection for every skin color.

      @@bellami86 Nothing you said changes anything about what I said. Kaleidos is a Chinese brand and they make inclusivity a priority even though the Chinese market is largely fair/light. I mentioned the culture in Russia, you must have missed that part. That's not an excuse for me as an American consumer in the US. I didnt say they need to change, I didnt say they needed to do anything. I said I noticed some things and I'm not comfortable purchasing.

      I'm glad you brought this up! I've only seen a few European/Russian brands but they lack diversity in their products and that makes me just not want to spend my money with them. There's plenty of deserving indies elsewhere to support.

      I just don't see why every single brand should be obliged to make everything suitable for everyone. If a brand would come out p.e. with foundations exclusively for deeper skin tones - totally fine with me. The other way around? Totally fine with me too. Reminds me a bit of the discussion that brands should avoid the term "whitening" on certain skin cremes (made actually for that very purpose). Btw, I think the palette is very pretty and I ordered it.

    The KQ brands whole tactic of name dropping doesn’t make me want to rank them along side those brands, it just makes me think they’ve now set the bar ridiculously high for themselves naming such high profile luxury and indie brands. they’ve made it easier for people to tap out and keep their money. They’ve kinda set themselves up for a fall

    Thank you! I said the same things you said about the expensive palette! Their claims about Clionadh shadow prices weren't even correct, and that was their first justification and they couldn't even say something that was true? I've just lost a lot of respect because it feels... overall greedy and like there was no integrity. They compared their items to their (highest, probably) competition's prices and matched them without even taking into consideration Why their competition's prices were as high as they were. It just overall feels like a joke.

    Spring in the northern hemisphere starts the early 20s of March and runs through the early 20s in June but I know a lot of people that think of seasons more based on holidays so Easter to Memorial Day. Like in the US Memorial weekend is the summer kick off and Labor weekend is the last hurrah of summer even though that doesn’t align with the actual solstices/equinoxes.

    I have to agree with everyone else commenting on the expensive palette . The glaring difference was the fact that this is not hand pressed. She talked about how long it takes her to put a palette together, YET brands like clionadh , devinah and terra Moons makes every shadow by hand. They mix it... by hand, they press it... by hand, that process by itself is worth more , to me . Also, they buy their own materials and mix is at home, so.... also, the attitude was a big turn off and lastly, they didn't look like true multichromes that we've seen . They do look more on the side of the glitter multichromes that tend to cost less across the board from other indies. With that said, I do hope they do well and the formula is out of this world but I'll pass . I have Plain Jane coming in from Adept and you get more pans for half the cost and tbh they look similar.

    Oh man, that KB palette really pissed me off, especially when they’re promoting it as cruelty free when they sell real mink lashes. And that’s an ABSURD amount to spend on one palette. I tried to politely let them know that I don’t think this is going to fly and left them this comment, lol: “I love that this is a vegan and cruelty free palette, but it’s extremely confusing to have that promoted while you’re selling real mink lashes. This does not make sense to me. If you don’t want your brand to be fully cruelty free or vegan, that’s your right, but promoting the palette that way gives an impression that this is an important issue to you, and if you’re selling mink lashes, that means it’s not. Also, I fully understand that multichromes are more expensive, that’s a known fact. However the comparisons you’re to justify the costs don’t make sense. Clionadh’s most expensive multichromes are actually just about $19 when you convert it to US currency... and even if you don’t, they’re still only $25 a piece. And hand made, which you have confirmed yours are not. I applaud you for doing something interesting, different and very lovely (and I can tell the three “white” shades are all different, I love those kind of shades!) but this whole release feels sketchy to me and has put a bad taste in my mouth for your brand. If you want to attract the cruelty free/vegan customers, you REALLY need to get rid of mink lashes. They are not cruelty free, they are collected as they’re dropped off the animals on their way to slaughter. I cannot support a brand which supports that kind of animal abuse. It’s a beautiful palette and you have every right to charge whatever you want for it. But honesty with your customers and having all your facts straight will go a long way towards building the kind of trust you need, especially as a newer indie brand in a very saturated market. And even if I fully got behind everything about your brand, that is far more than I could spend on any one palette, no matter how beautiful it is. I would give some serious thought to what you want your brand to be, who you want to attract and either fully embrace the cruelty free people or abandon it. It’s a free country, no one is being forced to purchase this, but I think you’re putting off a lot of potential customers with the issues I mentioned. That said, I wish you all the best and success as you go forward!” I will DEFINITELY not be purchasing anything from them without some serious revamping. And much, much lower prices, haha! Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Amy! I always appreciate these videos and the research you do!

It leaves a bad taste in my mouth with you compare yourself to Clionadh and other (handmade) indies like that, esp exaggerating their competitors pricing. I use water activated liners. They will run or bleed if you get water on them. If your eyes are just watery though, you can usually fix it by just wiping away where it's bleeding down and it doesn't look bad. Honestly, it acts a lot like my regular eyeliner but it's a bit more durable because it's thicker. Then again, my regular eyeliner might just suck in general 😅. I use a Maybelline one

    Still hyped to receive my pre-order restock of the Aurorae Flares bundle! They've shipped! Xploders have been my HG favs for more than a year. 😅 I doubt that will change, after receiving these, but it'll be nice to have something more metallic and less micro-glittery, so I don't have to use glitter glue on lazy days. 😋
    I've also been using some of the Clionadh metallics and duochromes from the older bundles.
    I haven't tried anything from Killer Queen... But if they think they can charge around Clionadh prices, they'd better be Clionadh quality or higher. And... I've never found anything better than Clionadh. The prices are a bit high, but they are the shiniest, glittery-ist, shiftiest eyeshadows on the market. There is nothing better, IMO. As far as I've seen, anyway.
    I think their mattes are better now, too. At least, I have no problems with the like, 7, that I own. Mostly purples, blues, and greens. They're softly pressed (but haven't cracked or anything, for me), kick up quite a bit, and are quite pigmented. Kind of like the mattes in the Sweet Shoppe palettes, but pressed even softer.
