You know we actually get to hear a elite acknowledge a ODST in respect by calling him that in halo 2, he says "You are a either brave, or stupid IMP!", you can hear this by chance on the mission with ODSTS
That's not why he was "THE demon" at first. At the beginning they just didn't understand that there were several Spartans. They thought it was the same individual being supposedly dying and returning, chief just happened to be the one that was around most often. Then he became "THE demon" because he was the one most recognized by the arbiter and he was most often visible on the front lines, not known for sneaking or range
@@AshenAlpha it's actually because he was the one who destroyed Installation 04. When the members of the Covenant say The Demon, they are referring to the one that destroyed the ring.
I played through ODST over the weekend and heard the line only once. They definitely said it, but it clearly isn't as common as hearing them call Chief The Demon.
When I played through odst, my game had a glitch where I was immortal to enemy damage besides physics/ prop damage or getting run over...so...I just breezed through it

@HaloN00bie Actually they call Osiris "Demons" and the Banished called the spartans on red team (especially Jerome) "demon" and "little demon" the phrasing actually wasnt born from Master chief himself, rather another Spartan 2 that actually engaged the Arbiter when he was a Supreme Commander which lead to him screaming "HERETIC UNHOLY SCUMM, DEMON" as this was VERY early in the war and began the hoax that spartans were undead humans who came back stronger and more deadly and unholy due to their body armor covering their bodies(yk bc they can SHREAD through covenant where say a marine or odst would die) Thats why Atriox's introduction was so metal, after he knocked off Douglas's helmet he said "As i suspected.. nothing more than a "man". Nope "Demon" was synonymous to Spartan in the Covenant. Master Chief was simply THE Demon. If you read the novels this has been definitive lore for ages now.
Imagine training for years and surviving several suicide missions just to have your job taken by a child in fancy armor. 😅
The first halo book actually illustrates that quite well when Master Chief meets ODSTs for the first time post-augmentation
Imagine not knowing that most ODST turned into Spartan IVs. Lol.

The elites called them “the ones who arrive in their own coffins” but that’s lot as catchy XD
Goes hard
This is one of my favorite specific pieces of lore, I tell everyone who plays halo about it if they hadn’t heard already
It's such a cool piece of lore.
I honestly never knew this bit of lore, and today I learned.

I never knew this. Thanks for that!
Anytime friend
The Covies also call the marines “nishum” which essentially means tapeworm
a real pain in the ass
so that's what those grunts were saying in halo reach?
primitive worm i think
Its pretty awesome that chief is called THE DEMON meaning the covenant believe he is the strongest

The flood call ODSTs “armoured caskets”
ODST’s are called imps!? You should probably make a video of the covenant saying that line of dialogue because I never heard of it before!
I played through ODST over the weekend and heard the line only once. They definitely said it, but it clearly isn't as common as hearing them call Chief The Demon.
Am i the only one who encountered being frequently called "assassin" by the covenant when playing as Buck?
I like that name! Imps, it has a nice ring to it!
Was that a joke
Me wish me could sleep with both eyes open *naps*
Liking because you credited :)
Also I appreciate the fact Bungie recorded new lines for the AI characters in ODST.
We’re happy Buck and the other young and/or surviving ODSTs (rip Rookie) gone S4 augmentation
So based off this hell and demons are known throughout the galaxy meaning doom guy is in the same universe.
That's adorable.

And the marines are called chihuahuas
When did they start “calling all Spartans, demon”? I always thought Chief only had that nickname due to the fear he evoked on the Covenant
nah they call all the spartans u play as demons, it was never just chief

Makes me wonder what they called marines. What would be lower than an Imp?
ive herd the line in halo 2 but not odst what do they call a marine?
Probably just human
Did Marines have any nicknames too?
vermin
"nishum" meaning tapeworm
Odst is the imposter
What's IMPS mean?
Imp is a small demon
mythical creature basically a small demon
ODST would've been contender for best halo game if it weren't lazily slapped together with halo 3 assets
I thought it was great regardless.
